I had the exact same saddleback leather one in a lighter color until I lost it last year. Would definitely recommend over basically all the mr porter options in the same price range.

It's the kind of thing I couldn't justify buying myself & it pleases me to take it out of my pocket. I think it'll age well.

years ago i had a brief fling with this girl whose dad owned some luxe handbag company, and she gave me a wallet for my birthday, presumably she got it for free. it was like beautiful brown leather, amazing. shortly after that ended i was in a more long-term relationship and my gf at the time really hated the fact that that was my wallet, i guess cos she didn't like the person who gave it to me. in the end with a heavy heart i stopped using it, but only after stubbornly defending the quality of the wallet for some time. dunno where it is now, somewhere in my parents' house but probably lost.

It darkened over the years, evenly, but that's supposed to happen. With full grain leather you can use saddle soap and a little water to get rid of any discoloration and smells.

i fold my bills once with the fold of the wallet, they unfold as i unfold the wallet. we aren't post-cash yet though, i totally agree. cash is better for splitting bills with friends or for when i want to just leave a restaurant quickly after they've brought the bill - most restaurants end up leaving some slack at the point of payment, not the best ones but the rest, ime.

i'm sure i can think of other examples where cash is better too, if i try.

My spouse is an odd bird. Dude rolls out of the house in tailored Hugh and Crye shirts, perfectly tailored pants from either Epaulet or Sid Mashburn, Alden shoes, a gorgeous and cozy black Burberry trench (I borrow it sometimes even though it is too big on me). . . and a velcro wallet that cost less than a buck.

His running gear is in line with the velcro wallet. It is a strange mash-up of stuff from Kohl's, all of which he complains cost too much.

i'm with your husband q, i can be convinced to spend money on a lot of things but i have a 10 dollar cardholder/clip thing from the wilson's leather outlet. wallets are purely functional items to me.

My favorite wallet was a velcro one that I got from Busch Gardens that said "I survived the Loch Ness Monster".

i'm in the wallet = functional team. my mum got me a fairly nice wallet for christmas one year and it fell apart after a few weeks. got another one from family bargains of all places and it's lasted me years...

i was at a staff meeting the other day, about 20-25 people present, and i looked around and noticed that every male in the room except one had a beard or some type of facial hair. in my workplace department as a whole only 3 men shave. i work in academia so i suppose the standards are different but we are a good 10 years into beards "coming back" and now they've basically reached ubiquity

apparently they've been on the way out for a while now, but i still wear a beard. seeing photos of me clean-shaven from a few years back looks weird. p sure i look better with than without.

i agree. that's prob the main reason i have a beard, my facial hair is extremely thick and it would take me about 45 minutes to shave in a way that minimized irritation. way easier to just use hair clippers with a 1/8" guard every few weeks

i like the way they look too though

i shave my beard off fully every 7/8 weeks just to feel my face again and maybe moisturise it a bit. i also like the changing feeling of it growing back from zero.

Anyone on here wear/know about A Kind of Guise? They have some very lovely looking things, but alas no stockists in North America. A new(ish) line from German designers based in Munich (or Berlin?).

I'm thinking about ordering some stuff online from them as they have some nice sales of their winter line. Not many reviews or anything online, though.
