man alive

that looks like this down coat from uniqlo: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/men-seamless-down-coat-172993.html

who cares about the precise names for these things

yeah, this is a nice coat. Mine looks more different in person than you might think but I see the similarity. I think my co-worker has the uniqlo one and it's v nice, I initially thought it was a fancier/more expensive coat.

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 21 December 2016 20:43 (nine years ago)

the late great, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 20:59 (nine years ago)

yeah pretty good quality at a decent price. probably not as warm as a canada goose but more than enough for my needs

just another (diamonddave85), Wednesday, 21 December 2016 21:03 (nine years ago)

military style arctic parka is a mega classic design imo

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 21:03 (nine years ago)

maroon/orange there is speaking to me

r|t|c, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 21:03 (nine years ago)

tbh i was torn between navy, maroon, black with black fur, black with brown fur, and sage. ended up going with the classic sage though

I don't know if I've posted this before, but I've considered this:

nice

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 21:45 (nine years ago)

If I wasn't way too big for it, I would be tempted to wear my grandfather's actual WW2 bomber jacket once or twice. The outer layer hasn't aged well but I tried it on once and it's super thick

ideal for co-piloting a poorly insulated aircraft thousands of feet over europe

i went jeansless for about a year and a half, it was good, would like to get back to that tbh

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 24 December 2016 14:59 (nine years ago)

im not a fan of stretch jeans, feels unnatural to me in a pair of jeans

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 16:33 (nine years ago)

been sporting cords lately and this chick was like omg ive not seen anyone wear cords in forever

but im a jeans guy
just trying to spice it up a bit

F♯ A♯ (∞), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 17:47 (nine years ago)

man i used to wear cords all the time, those were the days

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 19:47 (nine years ago)

I've been moving into cords.
I got some burgundy needlecords last year. But my wife said 'they are a bit Tory', so I am too ashamed to wear them.
Now I've got some navy cords. I'm optimistic about this pair.
And I think I can move back into the red cords if I dress them down a bit.

woof, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 19:54 (nine years ago)

I thought I was safe because jumbo cord is more tory than needlecord, but I was wrong, the red trouser problem prevailed.

woof, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:00 (nine years ago)

i could use a new pair of cords

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:19 (nine years ago)

i just bought this woolrich shirt at sam's outdoor outfitters in brattleboro, VT, one of the best stores http://www.woolrich.com/woolrich/details/men-s-oxbow-bend-plaid-flannel-shirt/_/R-6111?skuId=728175479093

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:25 (nine years ago)

nice shirt

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:31 (nine years ago)

ya i only wear needlecords cos my dad used to wear jumbo cords when i was a kid so i associate jumbo cords with grandad-wear

F♯ A♯ (∞), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:35 (nine years ago)

i've mentioned this before but my friend had a pair of like double jumbo JNCO cords that i thought were the coolest pants i had ever seen when i was 14, he let me borrow them a few times. the cord lines were like half an inch thick

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:36 (nine years ago)

JNCO CORDUROYS

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:37 (nine years ago)

The width of the cord is commonly referred to as the size of the "wale" (i.e. the number of ridges per inch).[4] The lower the "wale" number, the thicker the width of the wale (e.g., 4-wale is much thicker than 11-wale). Corduroy’s wale count per inch can vary from 1.5 to 21, although the traditional standard falls somewhere between 10 and 12. Wide wale is more commonly used in trousers and furniture upholstery (primarily couches); medium, narrow, and fine wale fabrics are usually found in garments worn above the waist.

the late great, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:40 (nine years ago)

fine jnco couch cords

mh 😏, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:42 (nine years ago)

there's the grandad connection

F♯ A♯ (∞), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:44 (nine years ago)

i like narrower cords as part of a stuffy wasp look with oxfords and big sweaters.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:47 (nine years ago)

F♯ A♯ (∞), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:48 (nine years ago)

F♯ A♯ (∞), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:49 (nine years ago)

lag∞n, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:56 (nine years ago)

xp nice, it's a good look

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:58 (nine years ago)

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 21:00 (nine years ago)

F♯ A♯ (∞), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 21:04 (nine years ago)

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 21:44 (nine years ago)

those are nice. for pants i like a thin wale

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 21:54 (nine years ago)

btw i ordered a bunch of new levis today, good sales, most were like $40 and a pair of selvedge for about $70

marcos, Tuesday, 3 January 2017 22:35 (nine years ago)

IMO cords have to be straight leg or relaxed. Slim / tapered cords make you look uncomfortable.

I have some bright BRIGHT blue Levi's cords that are sooo comfortable

I also have two corduroy blazers because I am Wes Anderson

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 23:33 (nine years ago)

it's true, i googled up a picture of you once and thought "wow this is one wes anderson-looking information security motherfucker"
