I guess I don't really mean biz caj, I just mean some timbs that don't look like the classic work boots but are still usable as snow boots.

i wear black Blundstones to work in a bizcaj office, sometimes i even forget to take them off and no one's ever mentioned it. wear thick socks and put cow goo on them to protect the leather. going into second Québec winter looking good as new

yah a chelsea boot works pretty well

I wanted some non-insulated higher boots last year and just grabbed some of the matte doc martens

mh 😏, Monday, 19 December 2016 03:36 (nine years ago)

love boots. winter fashion generally is so much more fun - i realised this year that in the summer i just feel like tintin for the duration, shorts and sneakers and a t-shirt or whatever, comfortable but almost impossible to feel you're actually dressed well in any sense. whereas stomping out of the house in boots, coat, scarf and a big knit just feels so much better.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 19 December 2016 08:56 (nine years ago)

I love boots. They're my default & I've got enough variants on the brown boot to cover everything short of high summer.
Sometimes wish I could justify lined boots. I see Loake Wolfs with a third to a half off now and again, but I know I sit in an office and my feet would get far too hot.

woof, Monday, 19 December 2016 11:16 (nine years ago)

Also I don't think the English winter is cold enough. But I might hunt for a nice pair of heavy, veldtschoen-welted boots in the sales.

woof, Monday, 19 December 2016 11:23 (nine years ago)

haven't worn boots in a long time. my default winter shows are some Nike Air Force Ones that are actually quite bulky but manage to keep the wet out while still being bouncy enough to chip around in quite comfortably. I find footwear the hardest thing to shop for. wouldn't mind getting some boots though.

ive been tossing around the idea of getting some modern military boots this winter, something along the lines of these:

http://i.imgur.com/zsZxQhx.jpg

sometimes i think they look cool as hell, sometimes i think they look too "tech". any thoughts?

I can't believe what you can get away with in uniform now

xp I think the word you're looking for is "tactical."

those are awesomely hideous, you can see why the moisture would want to stay away from them

unfortunately nike acgs fall apart ime, and not like on a normal "oh well my boots fell apart" schedule

iirc they rebooted "acg" as a brand so it's not even the same product line

surm, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 15:48 (nine years ago)

Have been stubbornly anti-puffer-coat for some reason, but my winter coat ripped and I got this off ebay in pretty close to new condition for $48. It rules. I love wearing a sleeping bag around and I feel silly for ever knocking it.

Yeah I mean specifically bubble coats though. I think i was put off them by all of the bad shiny ones I had seen in the last few years.

im not sure if any of this is facts and prob usage varies but im just gonna offer my understanding:

puffer coats = those new ultra light down coats that can be smooched up into a tiny ball but are oddly warm, the wale (just gonna call the puffy sections of the coat in between the seams that its prob not the right word) is much thinner than yr standard down coat

parka: a big warm jacket with a hood that extends down to mid thigh, doesnt have to be a down coat but often is, a down parka is usually just called "a down parka"

bubble jacket: a down coat where the wale is particularly raised and rounded, it generally refers to a coat that stops at the waist and has no hood

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 17:51 (nine years ago)

in conclusion the jacket u got can be most accurately described as a down parka (assuming it has a snap on hood not sure what to make of the thigh length jackets with no hood), its old school def not a high tech weightless thin wale puffer coat, and i feel like its not a bubble jacket either as its wale is pretty flat and not bubbly

i own a black down parka btw too its nice

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 17:56 (nine years ago)

yeah I guess I am just referring to the quiltedness of it. Also the item description called it a puffer, but now when I'm looking at similar VC items they call it a quilted parka.

FWIW it's actually not black it's charcoal with a very light cross-hatch print. I felt sort of weird about having a cross-hatch print on it at first but it has a good visual effect overall and only bothers me when I put my face right up to it.

cant trust those ebay descriptions lol nike adidas jordan basketball air force one sneaker shoe mens free shipping

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 18:25 (nine years ago)

lagoon ur descriptions seem right esp re "parka" and "down park" but ive seen puffer coat/puffer jacket/bubble jacket used mostly interchangeably. well then thin "wale" coats are not called bubble coats but anything down i see nowadays is often called puffer

marcos, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 18:26 (nine years ago)

ppl trying to hop on the puffer bandwagon with their regular down coats smh

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 18:31 (nine years ago)

I got this jacket on deep discount a couple years ago, it's pretty good

mh 😏, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 18:34 (nine years ago)

also parka imo doesn't require a hood? or does it? parka to me requires the length that goes down to mid thigh and has those big pockets

marcos, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 18:34 (nine years ago)

that sounds about right

mh 😏, Wednesday, 21 December 2016 18:35 (nine years ago)
