white is less attention-seeking than other colours imo. like why another colour?

i bought those ones lagoon posted in the last pic a few months back but the order got lost in delivery.

Has Nike cleaned up their act at all in regards to child labor, running sweatshops, etc? I've never once seen this issue addressed here which is really weird considering ILX's general wokeness.

anyway yeah its my understanding that sweatshops and child labor while not unheard of are generally passe what you have now is more workers facing vast hypermodern faceless air conditioned corporate dystopia

Dwyane Wade Nikes look like something my four-year-old would wear except with a pic of princess jasmine

Anyone ever get a pair of these?

Yeah I had a pair of black leather hi-tops. Loved them but they are gone now.

wanderly braggin' (seandalai), Wednesday, 7 December 2016 22:11 (seven years ago) link

one month passes...

I got a new wardrobe from IKEA with the customizable sliding thingamajiggers and now I have room for 36 pairs of sneakers and affiliated nonsense. I do not have that many yet. And I need to give probably a couple of these pairs a good funeral soon.

i must admit that with the exception of the bottom left rack yr kicks are not to my taste (though i used to wear those yellow joints in 3rd grade) but i bow down to your shelving system

the late great, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 02:27 (seven years ago) link

Yes, they are not for everyone. if there had been a str8 fire beautiful shelves thread I would have posted it there

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 02:37 (seven years ago) link

just out of curiosity what's the name of that shelving system

the late great, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 03:00 (seven years ago) link

oh yeah duh that would be helpful

it's the PAX wardrobe system and those shelves are the KOMPLEMENT pull-out shoe shelves - USA IKEA page is here http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00257463/

Are those Chuck IIs in hi top white? If so, how do u like 'em?

rip van wanko, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 04:27 (seven years ago) link

no, I am a chucks fundamentalist

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 04:56 (seven years ago) link

my fellow enthusiast who went in on some IIs said they felt like sneakers, not chucks, and are not as good for his electric guitarism, because you lose feeling in the pedals

i just bought my first pair of converse in a looong while. my stan smiths were on their last leg and then got trashed walking around brooklyn on a massively rainy afternoon and i literally needed a new pair of shoes (and socks) right then so finally found a shop on n. 7th that sold these:

http://nord.imgix.net/Zoom/14/_10099034.jpg

which are all leather/rubber and have a cork insole, which i've never seen before. they're less mod than i tend to go for these days but i have come to like their casualness (and fuck a canvas sneaker when you live in northern europe tbh)

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Tuesday, 24 January 2017 11:08 (seven years ago) link

i wear a lotta standard beat up low top canvas chucks. it's hard to rly explain why they suit my vibe altho currently they work with my hairdo in a paranoid vietnam vet style I SUPPOSE. chucks are v much another ils topic where you'll find me mumbling about not fucking with their essence man

r|t|c, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 11:11 (seven years ago) link

one time i thought an outfit needed a little more menswear zhuzh so i switched the laces for string to create the illusion of wabi sabi artisanalism. pro tip

r|t|c, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 11:18 (seven years ago) link

tho that sounds commendable, I would suggest that 'wabi sabi chuck taylors' is mb stretching it

otoh I have ordered some veja's (ta ilx) with the rationale behind my preferred pair being that they remind me of the exceptionally lint-covered floor of my oldest friend's childhood home

calstars, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 12:34 (seven years ago) link

some of these vejas are cute but i might weary of explaining the brand identity displayed proudly on the heel

these are so disappointing!! fake nike footscape wovens actually made from bits of bark and carpet and bottle tops would be p admirable

speaking of hard to clean, I like these new Converse but suede and the Irish climate don't really go together in my experience
