$45 t-shirts, okay people

El Tomboto, Thursday, 18 August 2016 17:41 (nine years ago)

this jcrew slim garment dyed t-shirt is so nice https://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/polostees/slimshop/PRD~C2724/C2724.jsp

fabric is soft and the slim fit is a perfect size

it has a slightly worn-out look, which i just thought about and most of my casual wear is like that

yea i have been buying the basic jcrew "broken-in" pocket tee for about 10 years now, i've had some other shirts over the years but i really love these as long as i can find a color a like in a given year https://www.jcrew.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441760044&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302084418&nav_type=PRMNAV&bmUID=lqmYfT5

marcos, Thursday, 18 August 2016 17:49 (nine years ago)

Gap sells a "lived in" tee very similar to that j crew, but priced @ $25, and I just wait for the very frequent 40% off sales and pick 'em up for $15. Fit and feel great.

yea the jcrew broken in one is usually only $25, you can find a sale for them at $17 or so

the jcrew garment dyed one is nice but $45 for a tshirt is too much for me

marcos, Thursday, 18 August 2016 17:55 (nine years ago)

i'm about to buy like every single colour of the one i posted

not generally a fan of the jcrew style but i like these garment dyed tshirts

i have a pair of their macalister desert boots and they're pretty nice too

i sometimes buy from the gap too, but a lot of the times the fit is way off for me

F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 18 August 2016 17:56 (nine years ago)

though i have in my mind like "reasonable price" expectations for particular articles of clothing and i think they have not changed since i was a kid and i should propably update them

gap fit for hoodies and tshirts has always been off for me. button-downs and oxfords okay though, though i could ALWAYS go for shorter sleeve lengths. that's the case for me anywhere though

marcos, Thursday, 18 August 2016 17:57 (nine years ago)

i honestly just go for the fit. if gap tshirts fit better and i found one i liked i would nab a bunch of them

F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 18 August 2016 17:59 (nine years ago)

please be sure to study this website before making any tshirt decisions http://www.threadbase.com/unravelled

I really like my j crew V-neck shirts, and they're p much always doing sales upon sales upon sales, so I think I got them for around $15 each.

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Thursday, 18 August 2016 18:08 (nine years ago)

xp

that's neat

i tried it and it recommended jcrew, everlane, and mack weldon (didn't know the last two)

if they added more styles that'd be great

F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 18 August 2016 18:13 (nine years ago)

i was just kidding although i do have an ongoing complaint about short t shirts so i have actually checked it unironically in the past

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 18 August 2016 18:16 (nine years ago)

had never heard of it til now haha

F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 18 August 2016 18:18 (nine years ago)

Only just recently realized Century 21 sells online now. They're sort of a mixed bag but they can be great for certain kinds of thing, like dress shirts. Tempted to buy a couple of Dunhill shirts for $70 each.

Mack Weldon is always sponsoring podcasts I listen to.

jcrew t-shirts are fine, YMC tends to be better quality but more expensive so

ǂbait (seandalai), Thursday, 18 August 2016 21:50 (nine years ago)

and that's most of the t-shirts I own

ǂbait (seandalai), Thursday, 18 August 2016 21:54 (nine years ago)

so my roommate gave me three hermés dress shirts that don't fit him. i have no occasion to wear them though. ebay?

bagging area (map), Thursday, 18 August 2016 21:57 (nine years ago)

rich father-in-law apparently

bagging area (map), Thursday, 18 August 2016 21:57 (nine years ago)

that would do better on styleforum imo, but a bit more work to sell as you're expected to provide detailed measurements and handle paypal etc. by hand

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 18 August 2016 21:58 (nine years ago)

hm ok. i'll probably hold onto them tbh.

i had never heard of them. is this their site? http://www.youmustcreate.com

because i couldn't find any t-shirts on there

F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 18 August 2016 22:13 (nine years ago)

o 'jersey'

they're london-based

makes sense

F♯ A♯ (∞), Thursday, 18 August 2016 22:13 (nine years ago)

old ymc red-label basic tees were my go-tos but they fucked up the new ones. thinner cheaper material and vaguely swaggier looser/longer fit/cut. think ppl may have cottoned on as ebay prices seem to have risen since i was hoovering them up

read somewhere once that gildan g64000s were p decent classic fits but i never got round to finding out

r|t|c, Thursday, 18 August 2016 22:31 (nine years ago)

l.l. bean t-shirts are really nice.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Friday, 19 August 2016 01:44 (nine years ago)

quite like this coat, in spite or because of its ron atkinson in east berlin vibe:

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 19 August 2016 14:54 (nine years ago)

those looks are cool as shit although I could never rock any of them. Also I predicted recently that the flattop was going to come in style.

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:02 (nine years ago)

yeah i prob couldn't rock them in full either, i think the coat would be fine tho.

thought this was p cool too: http://webshop.hankjobenhavn.com/eu/apparel/3357-pack-jacket-grey.html

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:05 (nine years ago)

i like the coat. the rest of that stuff not so much. i-went-to-berghain hangover.

bagging area (map), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:08 (nine years ago)

true to form I raised my eyebrow at the sunglasses

mh, Friday, 19 August 2016 15:20 (nine years ago)

tbf most of that stuff would be totally lost on u.s. places that aren't new york or l.a. it seems very euro-centric?

bagging area (map), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:23 (nine years ago)

lost as in people wouldn't recognize it as a particular stripe of fashion?

mh, Friday, 19 August 2016 15:25 (nine years ago)

feel that's prob true for many things

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:26 (nine years ago)

as someone who lives outside of a fashion capital, yeah

mh, Friday, 19 August 2016 15:27 (nine years ago)

just that it wouldn't really be appreciated. *talks about lovingly repurposed rave breaks to EDM fan*. but yes point taken. if it appeals and you have the chutzpah. i couldn't do it.

bagging area (map), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:28 (nine years ago)

Even in NYC I think "I-went-to-berghain hangover" would be lost on a lot of people, even relatively style-conscious people. I think there's a more generic "berlin is cool" sentiment.

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:29 (nine years ago)

"i went to berghain hangover" p much sums up my adult to middle-aged life.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:30 (nine years ago)

elmo mentioned something like this on twitter but it's one of those situations where you really come into a look or adopt something that's fashion-forward and have mixed feelings when it becomes _a thing_ some time later

mh, Friday, 19 August 2016 15:31 (nine years ago)

i like the diagonal colorblock sweater.

bagging area (map), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:34 (nine years ago)

referee turtleneck not so much

bagging area (map), Friday, 19 August 2016 15:35 (nine years ago)

those links are reverting to the main site, not the actual product

F♯ A♯ (∞), Friday, 19 August 2016 18:36 (nine years ago)

Feel like I'm ready for the shirt buttoned to the top look to be done already, although I doubt it's run its course

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Friday, 19 August 2016 19:26 (nine years ago)

The Ron Atkinson look makes me feel like people who pull of the casual look: yes but you're dressed like a racist.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Friday, 19 August 2016 20:18 (nine years ago)

haha

map, Friday, 19 August 2016 20:20 (nine years ago)

The Ron Atkinson look makes me feel like people who pull of the casual look: yes but you're dressed like a racist.

nobody pulls off the casual look in this sense.

not sure that coat is entirely ron, or even marginally.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 20 August 2016 00:18 (nine years ago)

maybe ron as bankrupt used car dealer, approximating shearling with repurposed trabant carpet interior

the dark green version with the faux fur drama is much more pure unsubverted ron, shadily enriched soviet border captain

fun piece. would like to see it with the collar up

english non-weather has rly ground down my spirit though, i just look at that and sadly know it as only appropriate for five days in a decade
