started watching the americans last night and thought his tucked in polo was p dapper, crappy photo aside. prob wouldn't do it myself but i never wear polo shirts anyway.

i assume you guys wear untucked shirts when not wearing a blazer/sportscoat, right? again, i seldom wear formal jackets these days apart from formal occasions, but quite often wear oxfords untucked with jeans or whatever.

i generally tuck in button down shirts which i hardly ever wear unless its something super casual like a flannel or w/e, do not tuck in a polo unless its w a jacket but am willing to give it a try tbh

I tend to favour button down generally, even for quite casual shirts.

i wear button-down shirts a lot both for work and casually and tuck in more often than not. most of my shirts are too long to wear untucked though for the summer i have some casual button down shirts that are shorter and untucked is def preferable when it's hot it.

but in other seasons jeans/chinos plus tucked-in button down is basically my look.

yea that's the problem, i'm short too so it is hard to find a shirt that looks good untucked, i definitely have a few but it is hard to find them

i actually just got a nice red/white/blue gingham from proper cloth and i hoped i had ordered it short enough to be wearable untucked but it's actually still a little too long.

xp that guy kind of looks like me and that's p much how I wear a tucked polo -- close-fitting but not too tight, contrasting slacks or chinos.

and never shiny/smooth/golf polos

yeah id wear a pair of tapered 501s for sure. basically any high-end/expensive jeans i buy wear out in less than 2 years so im going to go more in a 501s direction in future

also i p much always tuck in button down shirts

i like those tapered 501s. tried on a bunch of levis at a jeans depot in my neighborhood the other day and ended up buying a pair of blk 522s, wasn't perfectly satisfied but i needed dark jeans. may get a 501 tapes in dark blue

there are a lot of examples of people doing it really badly but that's basically true of everything in style

1. if the shirt tail is even close to peeking out under the back of the jacket, NO
2. if the shirt is one of those formaldehyde-soaked "wrinkle-free" pieces of shit, NO and also throw the shirt away, who bought that for you
3. probably (definitely) best if the shirt has a pinpoint collar
4. unless it's a polo, obv

not really sure why pinpoint collar would be the collar of choice for untucked shirts with blazers. Nor do I agree with the conventional wisdom on wrinkle-free shirts -- they vary widely in quality and I have some that look great. That said, don't wear untucked button down shirts with jackets.

i don't think jeans + untucked buttown down + jacket is a bad look necessarily. i kind of think of it as the look of people who are like 'can't be arsed with business attire' giving the bare minimum of compliance (it's what my frumpy academic dad wears to funerals), and will totally sail under everyone's radar.

not on restaurant managers so much as... humanities students, I think

blazer wearing is usually just a concession to aging no, like maybe if i put this over my normal clothes everything will be ok

feel like ppl cld get more milage out of not just wearing jeans everyday, there are all sorts of great pants out there folks!

let jeans be the casual clothes they are imho dont try to dress them up
