lonely pant just thinking bout things

ogmor, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 13:52 (ten years ago)

Good pant. I went pants shopping at Macy's yesterday and found many that I liked from the 50 to 75 dollar range, but nothing in my size. Annoying. I'm not a huge fan of buying pants online, the fit can vary so much.

Jeff, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:09 (ten years ago)

yeah insane to me that people buy jeans pants etc online. "well you can just send it back" ok great lookin forward to that

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:35 (ten years ago)

i buy pants online, buying pants online rules.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:35 (ten years ago)

lol i love it, feels decadent

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:39 (ten years ago)

and upon my exit i wave my hand - "take these, i have no use for them"

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:39 (ten years ago)

no buying clothes online is the worst! You can't interact with them or see how the fabric feels or see how it hangs on your body, goodness!! How much stuff looks great on a hanger and awful when you try it on?

the only stuff I'll buy online are different colors or patterns of shirts that I already have and know fit well

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:44 (ten years ago)

well you buy online with the expectation that you're going to send some/most of it back. it's a pain, but shops are awful places too.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:49 (ten years ago)

and EVEN THEN remember the perilous admonition of that t-shirt size variability chart

xpost are they? they are places of wonder and possibility and ok admittedly rows of XL, S, XS and nothing else half the time it seems like

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:51 (ten years ago)

I'd buy online if I had a brand and style that I knew consistently fit, but I haven't found that yet. Like I'll buy unique shirts online because I know the smells fit me every time.

Jeff, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:37 (ten years ago)

trippy

stanley krubrick (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:44 (ten years ago)

i hate buying clothes in general, either way it sucks. dressing rooms are horrible cramped spaces with shitty lighting and are always super warm. buying online sucks b/c so many things look good in a photo but look/feel like garbage when they come in the mail, then you have to deal with shipping things back and filling out return forms and printing shipping labels, fuck that

marcos, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:48 (ten years ago)

this is a major dilemma b/c i need new clothes here and there obv

marcos, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:49 (ten years ago)

Hmm uniqlo smells. SMALLS. Xpost

Jeff, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:49 (ten years ago)

you just smell that shirt and you know it's for you

marcos, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:50 (ten years ago)

i like b&m shopping too but given the number of great web-only brands, the accessibility of smaller and/or international brands on the web, and the deals you can find, it's kind of silly to like reject online clothes shopping.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 18:08 (ten years ago)

my needs are not that rarified, plus i live in one of the world's great metropolises = it is incredibly easy to not even be aware of 'web-only brands'. but frankly if i were stuck in, i dunno, bumblefuck i'd probably dress bumblefucky? unless the opp presented itself? you know how there's locavores, i'm a locahabille

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 20:37 (ten years ago)

plus the instant gratification! my god!! recall my one-day odyssey to purchase the short-sleeved red gingham shirt of my dreams! it was over and done with in a matter of hours. if i'd bought online, first of all who knows how it would have fit and REALLY looked - you should have seen me hemming and hawing between near-identical shirts along oxford street - but also i'd have had the chance to think better of it. no second-guessing!

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 20:41 (ten years ago)

lol yeah if i lived in a place with infinite consumer choice i might not concern myself with web brands, maybe it turns out i live in bumblefuck but like nice things, idk

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 20:59 (ten years ago)

i walked into a restaurant a couple of months ago wearing my velcro new balance hospitalcore shoes and some crust punk looking guy looked at my shoes and said "are those old man shoes? aw yeah!" and gave me a high five

Anyone have any experience with Apolis? They seem to have decent-looking basics, prices are a little high but they use a "flash sale" model and the real (flash sale) prices don't seem ridiculous. Also have a slightly corny social entrepreneurship thing going, like a lot of these companies. Somehow I got on their mailing list.

Apolis (a–pΓΆl–is) means β€œglobal citizen.”

human life won't become a cat (man alive), Friday, 25 March 2016 16:41 (ten years ago)

oh, hahaha just saw what you were referring to

human life won't become a cat (man alive), Friday, 25 March 2016 16:42 (ten years ago)

apolis stuff is too slim fitted for my taste

the late great, Friday, 25 March 2016 16:45 (ten years ago)

also i don't think quality is quite up to par with price

the late great, Friday, 25 March 2016 16:45 (ten years ago)

it's not "bad" stuff but at that price point you can get way better shit

the late great, Friday, 25 March 2016 16:48 (ten years ago)

I can't believe I've never checked this thread out before.

never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Monday, 28 March 2016 03:23 (ten years ago)

Guys I'm on the hunt for a long-sleeved linen shirt for the summer, something very unstructured ... to be worn untucked, maybe half unbuttoned, sleeves rolled up, on the hottest days. would love to find something in a deep, intense indigo, but other colors might work too (maybe grey, or cream). I was at uniqlo the other day but found their linen shirts sort of meh. of course they were only 40 bucks too. I'd be willing to pay twice that (maybe even more) for something really special by way of texture and color. So if anyone has any ideas re online sources (or b&m in the northeast usa), pls let me know.

enough with the monk strap shoes

chinavision!, Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:32 (ten years ago)

they seem to be a thing among extremely uncool software engineers right now (that's not me btw)

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:39 (ten years ago)

i don't see anyone wearing them really - tho i don't see anyone dressing partic formally.

i think they're fine for a very formal occasion where you're wearing a suit, but they don't translate to casual at all.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:43 (ten years ago)

knew a lame dude who waxed rhapsodic about double strap monk strap shoes

龜, Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:45 (ten years ago)

they seem like the kind of thing a dressy RNC intern would wear

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:49 (ten years ago)

or possibly a nazi

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:55 (ten years ago)

I think I saw an uncool software engineer wearing them on the train this morning

chinavision!, Thursday, 7 April 2016 12:56 (ten years ago)

I used to see double monks a bit more a year or two ago. Had been thinking/hoping they'd peaked - I've never been taken with them and they feel past the point where they're in the formal-but-interesting spot.

woof, Thursday, 7 April 2016 13:00 (ten years ago)

caek if you work with uncool software engineers, please report if one of them showed up in monk strap shoes today

chinavision!, Thursday, 7 April 2016 13:02 (ten years ago)

I'm going to have a check around here right now

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Thursday, 7 April 2016 13:19 (ten years ago)

lol

woof, Thursday, 7 April 2016 13:20 (ten years ago)

nothing wrong with double monks but they're best for occasional use only.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 7 April 2016 13:25 (ten years ago)

yeah, two occasions - 1 when you're alone and 2 when nobody can see you, heyo

other people systems as applicable (El Tomboto), Thursday, 7 April 2016 13:52 (ten years ago)

quadruple monks or gtfo
