check out end 65.

plan on getting whatever you end up with tailored to the slimness you desire. also a good wool herringbone will be thick and durable af.

call all destroyer, Monday, 22 February 2016 21:13 (ten years ago)

damn those are great but are just as expensive as suiting pants, it's v difficult for me to drp $175 (or even $100) on pants

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 22 February 2016 21:17 (ten years ago)

yeah i hear ya, not sure where the inexpensive herringbone trousers are at tbh. i did check lands end as they occasionally do slim fit with interesting fabrics, but nothing at the moment.

call all destroyer, Monday, 22 February 2016 21:21 (ten years ago)

Would recommend Cos, I have mad skinny legs also and their stuff works fine dressed up or down.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Monday, 22 February 2016 21:22 (ten years ago)

you could definitely straight up check the racks at macys etc. but i worry that anything you find will not be slim enough to suit you, even after tailoring.

call all destroyer, Monday, 22 February 2016 21:23 (ten years ago)

cos is a good call but they don't seem to have anything that fits the bill right now

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 22 February 2016 21:46 (ten years ago)

most of the brands i like seem to be doing nothing be leisurewear stuff rn tbh

i have a couple of pairs of norse projects wool trousers that fit quite slim and have proved very durable. unfort they no longer seem to make them :/

$ (Lamp), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:20 (ten years ago)

topman would defo have skinny fits - quality (and all other elements) can vary but might be worth a look, esp if you want herringbone.

i had a pair from there a few years ago that are almost exactly like the pic.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:22 (ten years ago)

I posted in the JEANS thread but I am like extra wary re: durability rn bcz the UNIQLO jeans I bought developed a hole in the rear back pocket where my wallet is in less than a year (they were "stretch selvedge" that was 2% spandex, though, which is maybe why).

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:23 (ten years ago)

the fast fashion stuff i find to be awful quality and a waste of time is more shirts/t-shirts etc. jeans and trousers can be fine ime, even for a few years.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:25 (ten years ago)

this is a niche goal, so i think you need to either need to make your peace with fast fashion, or spend more

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:25 (ten years ago)

caek is right here

marcos, Monday, 22 February 2016 22:28 (ten years ago)

dunno if it's even possible to get v skinny trousers at high end, unless you get a tailor or something.

apart from like a few brands, acne studios for definite, not sure what else.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:30 (ten years ago)

they don't have to be VERY skinny, just generally on the slimmer side

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:33 (ten years ago)

I want slim-fit herringbone wool pants that can successfully be worn casually (with like a t-shirt or untucked buttondown I guess). Thicker wool is fine (preferred even) but they gotta be slim cut bcz my legs are too tiny for words. I'm fine w/ buying like suit pants for this but a) they tend to be so thin which makes me worry abt durability; i am used to jeans 24/7 b) so expensive!! c) will suit pants look strange if worn totally casual?

J. Crew is perfect for stuff like this, in fact I bought a pair of thick herringbone trousers pretty much like you're describing. I bought the "Bowery" line which is relatively slim, but I think Ludlow is slimmer. I'm actually wearing my other thick wool J. Crew trousers at the moment -- they're sort of a brownish birdseye.

hmm actually looks like they're not in stock anymore. maybe look for them on ebay?

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 22 February 2016 22:37 (ten years ago)

Jcrew is like one up from from h&m in durability for 3 times the price in my experience

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 22 February 2016 23:00 (ten years ago)

eef! yeah I mean tbqh I don't mind fast fashion if it doesn't look junky! Like if I pay $30 for jeans that last a year vs $150 for jeans that last 5 years idgaf! But idk if you can get, like, cheap fast fashion herringbone wool trousers

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 22 February 2016 23:57 (ten years ago)

Not their suiting stuff. And in the sales you can get stuff for more like 1.5x price.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 00:03 (ten years ago)

The WSJ actually did an article a couple years ago where they had a bunch of tailors test out all of the inexpensive suiting lines out there for quality and J. Crew got the highest marks.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 00:04 (ten years ago)

i don't own any suits but most suit pants i've tried on are quite thin -- is jcrew stuff thicker?

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 00:47 (ten years ago)

I mean they make suits in a variety of materials and thicknesses. The pants I'm talking about are relatively thick and wooly.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 02:05 (ten years ago)

I think you have to shell out at least 100 of your American dollars for herringbone pants that don't look cheap and won't fall apart within a few months, esp if you ever want to out stuff in the pockets. I also have faith that you can find them on sale somewhere!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 02:50 (ten years ago)

well this is the pant I bought, fwiw, if you search j.crew bowery herringbone you may find it in your size:

are pants called "pant" now? "nice pant"

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 11:56 (ten years ago)

love that pant

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 13:35 (ten years ago)

lonely pant just thinking bout things

ogmor, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 13:52 (ten years ago)

Good pant. I went pants shopping at Macy's yesterday and found many that I liked from the 50 to 75 dollar range, but nothing in my size. Annoying. I'm not a huge fan of buying pants online, the fit can vary so much.

Jeff, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:09 (ten years ago)

yeah insane to me that people buy jeans pants etc online. "well you can just send it back" ok great lookin forward to that

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:35 (ten years ago)

i buy pants online, buying pants online rules.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:35 (ten years ago)

trying trousers on in a shop, ok great lookin forward to that

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:36 (ten years ago)

lol i love it, feels decadent

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:39 (ten years ago)

and upon my exit i wave my hand - "take these, i have no use for them"

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:39 (ten years ago)

no buying clothes online is the worst! You can't interact with them or see how the fabric feels or see how it hangs on your body, goodness!! How much stuff looks great on a hanger and awful when you try it on?

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:44 (ten years ago)

the only stuff I'll buy online are different colors or patterns of shirts that I already have and know fit well

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:44 (ten years ago)

well you buy online with the expectation that you're going to send some/most of it back. it's a pain, but shops are awful places too.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:49 (ten years ago)

and EVEN THEN remember the perilous admonition of that t-shirt size variability chart

xpost are they? they are places of wonder and possibility and ok admittedly rows of XL, S, XS and nothing else half the time it seems like

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 14:51 (ten years ago)

I'd buy online if I had a brand and style that I knew consistently fit, but I haven't found that yet. Like I'll buy unique shirts online because I know the smells fit me every time.

Jeff, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:37 (ten years ago)

trippy

stanley krubrick (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:44 (ten years ago)

i hate buying clothes in general, either way it sucks. dressing rooms are horrible cramped spaces with shitty lighting and are always super warm. buying online sucks b/c so many things look good in a photo but look/feel like garbage when they come in the mail, then you have to deal with shipping things back and filling out return forms and printing shipping labels, fuck that

marcos, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:48 (ten years ago)

this is a major dilemma b/c i need new clothes here and there obv

marcos, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:49 (ten years ago)

Hmm uniqlo smells. SMALLS. Xpost

Jeff, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:49 (ten years ago)

you just smell that shirt and you know it's for you

marcos, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 15:50 (ten years ago)

i like b&m shopping too but given the number of great web-only brands, the accessibility of smaller and/or international brands on the web, and the deals you can find, it's kind of silly to like reject online clothes shopping.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 18:08 (ten years ago)

my needs are not that rarified, plus i live in one of the world's great metropolises = it is incredibly easy to not even be aware of 'web-only brands'. but frankly if i were stuck in, i dunno, bumblefuck i'd probably dress bumblefucky? unless the opp presented itself? you know how there's locavores, i'm a locahabille

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 20:37 (ten years ago)

plus the instant gratification! my god!! recall my one-day odyssey to purchase the short-sleeved red gingham shirt of my dreams! it was over and done with in a matter of hours. if i'd bought online, first of all who knows how it would have fit and REALLY looked - you should have seen me hemming and hawing between near-identical shirts along oxford street - but also i'd have had the chance to think better of it. no second-guessing!

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 23 February 2016 20:41 (ten years ago)

lol yeah if i lived in a place with infinite consumer choice i might not concern myself with web brands, maybe it turns out i live in bumblefuck but like nice things, idk

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 February 2016 20:59 (ten years ago)

i walked into a restaurant a couple of months ago wearing my velcro new balance hospitalcore shoes and some crust punk looking guy looked at my shoes and said "are those old man shoes? aw yeah!" and gave me a high five

, Tuesday, 8 March 2016 17:34 (ten years ago)

i thought you avoided brooklyn?
