lol it is a ~limited edition~ slim cotton one (not fat & silky like his other ones) and looks more like a screen-print design than a watercolor one

but yes, all good ^__^

that's a p nice Jerry Garcia tie, better than most. The real problem with most Garcia ties is that they were worn by portly boomers and paired with conservative suits that they didn't fit with at all.

apparently the kind of hat I was thinking of is called an "envoy" or "ambassador" hat. I only like the ones that are leather or other material on top with fur lining/sides, not the all fur ones though. And I can't decide whether it would look ridiculous on me. http://www.hartfordyork.com/product/982?utm_medium=AffLink&utm_content=PJX&utm_campaign=PJX&source=pjn&subid=41543

i used to mess around wearing one of those handed down from my grandfather

gr8080, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 18:14 (ten years ago)

It looks a lot like a traditional Afghan hat which it turns out is called a karakul?

i really like that tie although the colors are kind of brutal for shirt selection purposes

any winter hat that does not cover your ears is some bullshit imo

marcos, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 20:17 (ten years ago)

yeah that guy came up in my gis, definitely in the "against" column. I think the ones that are not all-fur might look a little less dumb on a young guy though.

http://i.imgur.com/Yp8JBYR.jpg

gr8080, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 20:28 (ten years ago)

yea those hats are really really warm, there are fleece ones available that look less ridiculous than fur imo

marcos, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 20:29 (ten years ago)

the inca-style knit hat with the ear flaps are also pretty warm

this year i just have a regular knit hat but it slightly longer than usual so it covers my ears

http://www.rei.com/media/e1c00491-b00b-417a-a41c-beb9f808f308

the little button thing comes off so it is just a simple grey hat. may be a womens hat i think but it doesn't matter

marcos, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 20:36 (ten years ago)

maybe boring af but just a regular super tight-knit acrylic tuque is my go-to these days, maximum warmth and if i lose it they're a dime a dozen. right now i have a "fancy" one that is $20 regular but got half off, if i should lose it i will go to the dollarama to replace

love the karzai hat

flopson, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 21:11 (ten years ago)

I buy cheap as hell navy acrylic toques from army and navy and lose 3 or 4 a winter

Cuombas (jim in glasgow), Tuesday, 12 January 2016 21:12 (ten years ago)

Yeah I have a cheapo brown faux-fur lined aviator earflap hat that I wear on cold days, p warm just because of the amount of coverage it gives you in spite of the cheapness. It looks just slightly silly, but endearingly so imo.

It doesn't even have a brand, I think it was from a Chinatown table or something.

I never know what to call them! I always use either "beanie" or "toboggan" but neither sounds just right.

from wikipedia:

Other names for a knit cap include: sock hat, knit hat, knit cap, "bonnet", sock cap, stocking cap, tossel cap, ski hat, toboggan (Southern American English), burglar beanie, watch cap (American English), woolly hat, snookie, sugan, or chook.

Pancho and Left Eye (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 12 January 2016 21:38 (ten years ago)

yea i call them "knit hat", "winter hat", "beanie"

marcos, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 21:39 (ten years ago)

cap i always think is a baseball cap

marcos, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 21:39 (ten years ago)

I have a blaze orange acrylic beanie that I really like until I washed it, now it looks dull and pilly. Fuck washing a hat is real.

i would be v surprised if i had ever paid more than like 30 bucks for a hoodie but ihta i kind of want this stupid $89 hoodie. in charcoal.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 14 January 2016 14:21 (ten years ago)

is it a leap of faith to think that a crowdfunded "hoodie company" will be around in 2040 to happily refund your purchase price?

rip van wanko, Thursday, 14 January 2016 14:31 (ten years ago)

I have to admit it's a fairly nice looking hoodie.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 14 January 2016 14:32 (ten years ago)

i want to lol at a 25-year hoodie but the hoodie i am wearing right now is 10 and going strong.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 14 January 2016 14:34 (ten years ago)

just buy like a carhartt hoodie that will last you as long for half the price

marcos, Thursday, 14 January 2016 16:19 (ten years ago)

P much. Most stuff designed to be workwear will last. I mean even my shitty-ass offbrand hoodie I bought 12 years ago is still wearable, a little faded and the shape is flabbier but it's not too bad. My champion hoodie IDK how old it even is but it still looks pretty good.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 14 January 2016 16:29 (ten years ago)

my uniqlo hoodie got holes in the elbows in a few years but tbh i put my elbows on a LOT of stuff
