ils thread for general menswear and men's clothing ish

I just don't know how to wear them with anything other than a dinner suit - the cuffs always feel weirdly thick and why do I want to look like I have thick wrists

I was never previously a fan, but this is probably the nicest dress shirt I've ever had and I want to wear it at some point.

what's happening in eyewear these day? i feel like I've been seeing some cool glasses lately, lots of roundish shapes in interesting colors

round has been the thing to go with these days. it has reached its peak. i anticipate a return to form for men, in steel and metals perhaps.

lol i know - it really is at odds with the clothes they make. what does "public school" mean to americans? it's an nyc label i think.

it means the opposite of what it means in the uk

public school, written like that, probably is intended to evoke a sense of the unadorned or unfussy, probably streetwear, universal and approachable. its still incredibly stupid maybe actually stupider than the british usage for a company making four-figure waxed-cotton parkas but who cares. excited for the s/s 16 line of my new post-workwear label UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE

Yeah I think Public School is probably meant to evoke a certain kind of casualness, childhood nostalgia, and maybe slight toughness? But it's also very much in line with lots of American stuff in the last ten years or so that uses a "cheap" sounding name for relatively high pricetag goods/services -- being too cool to unironically act rich, etc.

And yeah, public school in America = govt school, not what it is in UK.

some quilted bubble coats are better than others. there is definitely a shiny black bubble coat I've been seeing over the past few years that looks like a goddamned trash bag

yeah caek's "italiian tourist" comment is how i normally think of them, but i have seen some nice ones of late. like maybe not as shiny and not so much "puffa jackets".

in the 90s i remember a lot of girls had these huge full length puffa jackets, they were like sleeping bags - or yeah trash bags, i wonder have they made a comeback.

i would enjoy it if they did. my first gf had one, along with short hair and big fuck off cyberdog boots. tank girl vibes. she's now a chartered surveyor and could pass for my mum

i guess a lot of 90s stuff has kinda crept back in - i mean some of the trainers are actually just reissues. let's hope acupuncture trainers don't return, at 17 i thought they were the coolest thing. seriously ugly.

I passed the Buffalo shop the other day and was surprised that it's still there - now it just looks like a boring almost-tasteful shoe shop though.
