Wear them without stockings + after you've been standing in them for an hour or so the leather will heat up and form to your foot more and stick to your now slightly moist skin. Literally that's the only fix I have for this problem. I have it all the time.

Oh actually it might be a problem since that platform isn't going to flex where you need it to, across the toe break. Your foot bends, the shoe doesn't...voila.

Yeah and I gotta wear pantyhose. I ordered a couple things off Amazon that might help, fingers crossed

the long gel heel pads that wrap around the sides (for reg shoes) work much better than the short ones

in my experience anyway

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 18 December 2015 00:05 (ten years ago)

one month passes...

i discovered a great solution to this! you can get these little silicone toe slippers that ballerinas use, for just a few bucks, and they hold your feet in place in the shoes.

i also got some lamb's wool padding but haven't tried it yet.

just1n3, Sunday, 14 February 2016 06:04 (ten years ago)

none of the 3 different gel pads i tried for either the heel or ball of foot worked btw

just1n3, Sunday, 14 February 2016 06:05 (ten years ago)

have you tried tongue pads? i have heard they can work for heel slippage

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 14 February 2016 06:10 (ten years ago)

no - the silicone things were great, and totally invisible inside my shoes. i'm gonna try the lamb's wool next time i have to wear heels tho, bc the silicone pads did make the toe box a little too tight at the sides.

just1n3, Sunday, 14 February 2016 06:29 (ten years ago)

I have a wide forefoot/narrow heel problemo and have tried bunches of heel grips; these are by far the best I've ever used:

I've picked up my shoe game this year, no lady office pumps that are only good if you don't have to walk anywhere, I go for purely mobile style now.

And these, slightly less mobile but I couldn't resist.

And something very similar to these, which I've been kicking the shit out of since last fall (not Frye's, though--my pockets aren't that deep).

http://a2.zassets.com/images/z/3/3/9/2/1/6/3392162-p-MULTIVIEW.jpg

Basically what I'm saying is my wardrobe is full of peasant skirts and black leggings now, no pretensions to any kind of adult style except comfort. My shoes are all I have left.

Shoe fraternal twins!

Loving your mobile style, L!

I have no rad new shoes to share, though I did buy a cute pair of tiny-polkadot canvas keds for $20 to wear indoors at friends' houses or whatever in winter. might wear outdoors in summer though my walking ways just destroy this kind of shoe/slipper...

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 19 February 2016 18:46 (ten years ago)

i bought some of these

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 19 February 2016 19:22 (ten years ago)

i like those first sneaks, laurel, and the boots are fly too!

i'm on the lookout for the perfect pair of boots - preferably biker style - and these are the current contenders:

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/76561262393719001/ (maybe a little toooo chunky)

my new comfort look is mid thigh tunics, preferably loose and flowy, underneath a knee length cardigan, with bare legs or tights and badass boots.

just1n3, Friday, 19 February 2016 20:24 (ten years ago)

I tried various iterations (several NOT CHEAP) of not-comfortable-looking-but-comfortable women's shoes and have fucking given up.

I bought (NOT CHEAP but yet CHEAP) two pairs of men's wingtips--the high-end kind--and am not looking back.

I get tons of compliments, my feet are happy, and these shoes are gonna last 10x longer then these crappy velcro shit stuff I wasted time on.

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Saturday, 20 February 2016 05:28 (ten years ago)

justine i like the "dressy" boots - a tiny bit steampunk but in a good way?? - and the last ones, which are pretty unfuckable with

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 20 February 2016 19:06 (ten years ago)

yeah i really like them too, but i already have two pairs of really cool witchy/steampunk (also in good way) boots. i also have a pair of very simply black mid calf boots, but the have a very thin sole, so i feel like what's missing is pair of slightly chunky, more badass boots??

just1n3, Sunday, 21 February 2016 05:01 (ten years ago)

resole with maximum chunk!

one month passes...

Loooove those Abba shoes.

Was "flatform" a typo or is that a thing?

“I hate my wife. She doesn’t even have a dick” (sunny successor), Monday, 18 April 2016 13:59 (ten years ago)

one year passes...

I'm tired of wearing Docs everyday someone suggest me men's shoes that are slick and not sloppy

kurt schwitterz, Tuesday, 8 August 2017 02:38 (eight years ago)

red wing oxfords

red wing oxfords look just like docs!

kurt schwitterz, Tuesday, 8 August 2017 22:48 (eight years ago)

northwest pass-agg (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 10 August 2017 03:07 (eight years ago)

Trickers, Alden, something like that? Chunky brogues seem like a close cousin to docs.

vcrash, Thursday, 10 August 2017 03:24 (eight years ago)

I meant the red wing heritage line, not the main line

the late great, Thursday, 10 August 2017 04:19 (eight years ago)

i have two pairs of alden bluchers and they're great but i'm kind of afraid to wear them out

the late great, Thursday, 10 August 2017 04:29 (eight years ago)

if I was into shoes that weren't Converse I'd go Adidas

Trying to find the right kind of nice leather shoes is a fool's errand, if you like Docs, stick to the plan, just get some different looking Docs

El Tomboto, Thursday, 10 August 2017 04:37 (eight years ago)

Does ilx like nike huraches?

For a long time my signature shoes were clarks desert boots, then two different kinds of red wings, but now I'm wearing these. Part of me thinks they're incongruous with the rest of my look but idk. I'm in love with them.

Treeship, Tuesday, 15 August 2017 21:54 (eight years ago)

im p sure we have some huarache wearers on here.

i hadn't worn a big brand pair of sneakers in absolutely years but i got a pair of adidas nmd r2s and i feel like I'm walking on damn air

-_- (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 15 August 2017 22:00 (eight years ago)

Yeah similar experience with the huraches. They are so comfortable. Idk why i spend all fall and winter in heavy red wing boots. I don't think I pull off ruggedness anyway.

Treeship, Tuesday, 15 August 2017 22:02 (eight years ago)

<3 huaraches never owned any tho

the late great, Tuesday, 15 August 2017 22:05 (eight years ago)
