Damnit the J Crew coat I wanted was down to $200 yesterday and I didn't pull the trigger because I had just bought shirts. Now it's completely sold out. @#$*@#%(*^(%^!!!

The Ludlow Wool-Cashmere topcoat in charcoal. It had been hovering between $300-350 for a while in their various "sales." (Retail was $450 but it was rarely at that price).

Hmm, they have the one with thinsulate for 270 in my size. I thought I read a review that said that the thinsulate interfered with the styling a little. OTOH, warmer.

i am tempted to fuck w/ some higher level jeans but i'm pretty content w/ the levis i have and none of them were very expensive

yeah i mostly wear topman jeans just cos of they fit well. cos (same site as those cuffed pants above) jeans are good too. i have a pair of acne studios that were expensive, they are more comfortable and less sweaty - not selvedge - but i've prob said before here how most slim fit jeans are like clown pants on me.

i love levis but yesterday i almost paid £90 for a pair of 510s and at the last second i was like wait, what am i doing, i can get the same cut in the united states for $30

(i think the quality of the fabric in better in europe? but in my dad years, when the knees wear out after 12 months, it is crazy to "invest" in jeans imo)

Anyone tried J Crew Crosby stuff vs Ludlow? They seem to have the Crosby ("athletic build") version of the same coat for cheaper and without the thinsulate that supposedly makes it hang less nicely. I was actually going to get a size up in the Ludlow coat based on what I tried on in the store, so maybe just the Crosby at my size would work.

thx for the tip on that, I wound up getting three pairs of work pants for a total of $93 -- never worn their stuff but their slim and straight fit pants look nice enough and they had good colors.

I got as a gift my first french cuff shirt, and I own no cufflinks. I really have no idea about cufflinks -- thoughts on good places to get them, what styles are appropriate for formal settings, etc.? E.g. it seems like a lot of people who would never wear *novelty* ties wear *novelty* cufflinks.

i have one french cuff shirt that i wore for my wedding, it was a custom made shirt which was pretty cool. my wife gave me some very simple silver cufflinks from jos a bank that are subtle and unobnoxious

i have silver/white mother of pearl cufflinks, they go with everything. monkey fists can be useful in a pinch but i think they make you look a bit toby esterhase.
