that link isn't working but this has been a disastrous year for almost every midrange mall/chain clothing retailer (delias, american eagle, bebe, pacsun etc)

yes wave (rip van wanko), Friday, 27 November 2015 16:54 (ten years ago)

oh no not bebe

cory artangel (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 27 November 2015 16:55 (ten years ago)

Yeah what took bebe so long? American Apparel trading @ $0.032 on the pink sheets

yes wave (rip van wanko), Friday, 27 November 2015 16:56 (ten years ago)

add the final hyphen for the link to work

call all destroyer, Friday, 27 November 2015 16:58 (ten years ago)

in the uk j crew is just converted straight from dollars to £ - you could buy a lot of far nicer stuff for the same price.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Friday, 27 November 2015 17:11 (ten years ago)

i went to a wedding on the bebe estate once, p nice

lag∞n, Friday, 27 November 2015 21:56 (ten years ago)

J Crew "discounts" look like the exact same discounts they've had p much every day (but "today only") for the past 2-3 years. Still looking forward to post-Christmas when I can hopefully get the topcoat I've been eyeing for under $300.

marcos, Monday, 30 November 2015 17:13 (ten years ago)

flopson, Monday, 30 November 2015 17:14 (ten years ago)

that bag marks the moment that ils has moved decisively into the realm of things my mum had in the 90s

gr8 i like that a lot. i remember coveting the pendleton weekender with similar look last xmas but i never pulled the trigger. i ended up wussing out and getting a porter overnighter instead #regrets

LEGIT (Lamp), Monday, 30 November 2015 18:19 (ten years ago)

the most 90s mom thing is streetwear shit that looks like this

LEGIT (Lamp), Monday, 30 November 2015 18:37 (ten years ago)

browsing the Frank & Oak website I got the feeling that maybe the "drycleaned outdoorsman" look is finally dying/dead?

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 30 November 2015 22:18 (ten years ago)

Suddenly so many non-plaid shirts available

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 30 November 2015 22:19 (ten years ago)

bought these seinfeldwave jeans today

feel like the whole workwear thing has faded away a lot.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Monday, 30 November 2015 23:06 (ten years ago)

Maybe it's always this way with massive fashion swings, but it felt to me like first it long overstayed what I thought was its played-outness and then suddenly it went away very quickly.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 30 November 2015 23:10 (ten years ago)

Now I feel like the looks are more unabashedly fussy, less ironically manly.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 30 November 2015 23:12 (ten years ago)

i still see the odd nice thing and i dunno, i think shirt jackets are kind of cool, or some of the japanese workwear is nice, but like wearing lots of plaid or brown or whatever, i dunno. lots of marketing of masculinity going on.

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Monday, 30 November 2015 23:14 (ten years ago)

My SO is very upset that pleated pants are back. They never left DC, and he has been almost single-handedly (-leggedly?) swimming upstream on that.

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Monday, 30 November 2015 23:28 (ten years ago)

pleated pants should never ever come back

cory artangel (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 04:32 (ten years ago)

I love pleats

, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 10:52 (ten years ago)

i quite like that floral zip up thing and i've seen people wear similar things like that that look good, but i don't reckon i could pull it off.

canoon fooder (dog latin), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 11:14 (ten years ago)

I'm on board with a pleated pants revival

chinavision!, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 13:49 (ten years ago)

Thread. Shark. Jumped.

Jeff, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 13:57 (ten years ago)

I've been on board w/pleats this whole time

chinavision!, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:17 (ten years ago)

i like that kilim bag quite a bit but not sure i'd carry it around myself

gwyneth anger (patron sailor), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:20 (ten years ago)

are you pleats defenders in IT

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:39 (ten years ago)

I'm in IT. I do not defend pleats.

Jeff, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:52 (ten years ago)

Fight the good fight. I'm guessing Chicago is about on the same fashion level as DC.

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:53 (ten years ago)

A skinny handsome model dude with perfect style can get away with pleats but everyone else should stay far away. Pleats will get SO abused in places like DC and Chicago if they come back.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:55 (ten years ago)

i'm sure i've said this before but there are good pleats, very few of them but they're out there.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:58 (ten years ago)

xp you don't need to be skinny to wear pleats, come on man

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 14:59 (ten years ago)

Not in IT. Just got my own thing to do.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:01 (ten years ago)

Suits with high waists and pleats can look good on a guy who can actually wear high-waisted pants, i.e. doesn't have a gut.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:02 (ten years ago)

the end of pleats was def good for most ppl but if u cn make them work then u cn make them work

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:03 (ten years ago)

the end of pleats was good for society

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:05 (ten years ago)

its kinda like writing when adopting an unadorned style can get you pretty far so thats why they teach ppl in school to take words out instead of add them

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:06 (ten years ago)

Pleats only work with a high waist. It's kind of how they're designed.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:06 (ten years ago)

i have a suit w pleated pants but its just a single pleat u cn barely tell

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:06 (ten years ago)

Oh also khaki pleats are terrible and are probably what we think of when we talk about IT workers. Dockers and all that.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:09 (ten years ago)

Dockers is such a funny name.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:10 (ten years ago)

https://nickshell1983.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/pleated_work_pants1.jpg

its just like how in german u cant display the swastika our nation needs to heal

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:11 (ten years ago)

yeah feel like suit trousers have a fairly light pleat quiet often - is the hatred more for those really pointy pleats?

i dunno, i wear jeans or sweatpants p much always.

xpost the pleat was originally a buddhist symbol

japanese mage (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:12 (ten years ago)

lol tru

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 December 2015 15:14 (ten years ago)

khaki pleats are so weird, like how did it even happen where you take a fabric that doesn't drape at all and give it something that relies entirely on drape
