that jacket was meant to be red/black plaid, no use denying it

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2015 20:29 (ten years ago)

don't stick yourself with novelty outerwear, you have to wear it every day and you will reduce yourself to a one-joke walk-in character in the sitcom of somebody else's life

nerd shit (Will M.), Thursday, 12 November 2015 20:31 (ten years ago)

prob wouldn't wear camo garments, never have, but i do have a camo scarf, like a wool scarf in camo - it is p great imo esp when i mostly wear all black or all navy

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Thursday, 12 November 2015 20:32 (ten years ago)

xp on the other hand you could be part of a really good sitcom

mattresslessness, Thursday, 12 November 2015 20:33 (ten years ago)

adam, Thursday, 12 November 2015 20:48 (ten years ago)

the only ppl that i see wearing camo are like late 30s art dads that pair them with new balance 556s. like most military-inspired street fashion stuff it always seems kinda lame

dead (Lamp), Thursday, 12 November 2015 20:48 (ten years ago)

generally i associate camo with the mentally ill and actual military people but i do have a hot photo of me and my gf merging into one in matching camo tshirts that I wld never post here ofc

ogmor, Thursday, 12 November 2015 21:30 (ten years ago)

love local features with "real people" - the smaller the area the better.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Friday, 13 November 2015 13:56 (ten years ago)

lanyards are big in bristol it seems

canoon fooder (dog latin), Friday, 13 November 2015 13:57 (ten years ago)

i understand not wanting to wear camouflage but that covers a pretty broad swath of patterns and they're not all military flavored. there's a differences in signification between, say, digital camo or desert camo and woodland hunting camo. would never wear the former but i can fuck with the latter in moderation.

call all destroyer, Friday, 13 November 2015 14:23 (ten years ago)

xp I wear came from time to time and I don't care. I get a lot of compliments on my yellow came coat. But then I live on Gloucester Road, see above.

The only thing I don't completely like is the lines of the seams visible in the second pic -- they look a little too angular or boxy for me or something but it's not a huge deal and I need dress shoes. Overall the leather and construction is very nice.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 16 November 2015 20:56 (ten years ago)

i like those a lot i like a nice low key rounded toe

lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2015 21:11 (ten years ago)

yeah I'm all about the rounded toe, fuck a square or pointy toe

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 16 November 2015 21:14 (ten years ago)

i think they call that a quarter brouge when u just have the decorative border on the toe cap

lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2015 21:14 (ten years ago)

the pointier they are the dressier theyre considered traditionally iirc, square toe idk what that is

lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2015 21:15 (ten years ago)

i agree they look a little boxy--many oxfords have more shaping as they come around the ball of the foot. it's a little less dressy which can be good for wearing with more than a suit.

the laces need to go though.

call all destroyer, Monday, 16 November 2015 21:18 (ten years ago)

maybe so -- part of my problem is wide feet, so anything narrow/pointy I have to get a half size up and then they look like clown shoes

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 16 November 2015 21:21 (ten years ago)

they only look like clown shoes to you who are used to looking at yr feet to everyone else they just look like thats the size foot u have which is within a typical range

lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2015 21:38 (ten years ago)

Nice shoe - I like rounded toe mostly. Have one nice pair of chisel toe black suede boots that I love tho'. point of shoe pedantry tho' - are those not derbys/gibsons rather than oxfords?

I have wide foot problem too, and in longer shoes I start irregularly clipping pavement when walking. It's annoying.

woof, Monday, 16 November 2015 21:43 (ten years ago)

research does suggest you are correct that it's technically a derby

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Monday, 16 November 2015 21:49 (ten years ago)

apart from the quarter brouge those look exactly like my work shoes

square toe idk what that is

do people in the usa not commit this crime? in the uk it's prob the worst fashion abomination there is.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41LAJbF3ALL._SX395_.jpg

these aren't even the worst example. a lot of formally dressed men seem to go for these shoes, very weird.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 11:01 (ten years ago)

these were big but i think they've started to fade in the past couple years.

I have beautiful shoes now and I don't know how to look after them help help

Gravel Puzzleworth, Tuesday, 17 November 2015 14:03 (ten years ago)

square-toed shoes ('bicycle toe shoes' is the proper nomeclature iirc) are very popular shoes to hate on. you don't see them nearly as often as you would a decade ago but every men's style mag loves to make fun of them.

gwyneth anger (patron sailor), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 14:31 (ten years ago)

xp
what kind of beautiful shoes? Basic advice is use shoes trees & clean every month or two depending on how much you wear them - brush down, wipe down with a little soap and water, use wax polish (shiny) or cream (less shiny, maybe better for the leather, good at getting colour in), brush to get a sheen, buff a bit with a cloth. Saphir is a super nice brand if you want to feel like you are spending money on your shoes.

They'll look better as they age if they're good shoes, but yeah that period immediately after the PERFECT initial state can be a bit stressy.

woof, Tuesday, 17 November 2015 14:46 (ten years ago)

Sometimes I wonder if all style is arbitrary and any trend can eventually work its way into my heart, but square-toed shoes are one I hated at the outset, continued to hate, and still hate. Although by now they are really only worn by people who pretty much DGAF.
