ils thread for general menswear and men's clothing ish

two nights ago i was at a bodega and the dude behind the counter was quoting the entire scene about bending a spoon with your mind to the person at the front of the line. he claimed, and i quote, that it took him 'two years' to fully grasp the complexity of that scene. so it can take a while for that stuff to sink in

i have no opinions about kanye west or his clothes but i think we should all agree that dressing like an extra from one of the unpopular movies directed by the wachowski siblings is really, really cool.

the other day (more anecdotes) a friend and i were describing stuff that was cool and i said 'a long-ass black t-shirt with some word or phrase in block letters on it and like, zippers that dont serve any purpose. it should also have pockets'. my friend had a lot of good ideas but i wont repeat them here.

haha like two days after that lunch i saw this handsome korean guy in a thigh-length black t-shirt with a zipper running up the side for like 10 inches. we also brainstormed pants that have snaps on them for no reason if you're looking for #trends

We just call that stuff "postapocalyptic knitwear" now. You've got the whole film/tv trope of desaturating everything to remind viewers that the world has ended, so the only thing for the costumers to play with is texture, and nothing can look shiny, and ta-da, the yeezy line.

It feels a little disappointing when film and TV costuming is informing high fashion and not the other way around. Doesn't it?

FYI that thing in his hand is the little autographed container of hershey's kisses they give out when you take the WH tour.

secret service guy: good shirt collar, nice lapel roll on the suit, shoulder looks good, love the length on the pants, brown shoes are a nice casual touch.

it's no baby pope but guy can wear a suit.

I see nothing remarkable about that suit or the way he wears it, and that shade of brown doesn't look good with the suit.

jacket also looks a hair too long on him but it's hard to tell with his posture

Brown sweater plus black jeans plus dark grey oxford shirt is not too bad imo, something I wouldn't have thought of that sort of works for him. He is definitely all about the DC dadwear.

cheap shoes rule if you make them work. for that dude, in that context, they work very well. offsets basically everything else (that isn't a baby in an awesome costume).
