gym clothes can look great anything can look great, pull over hoodie just generally looks greater than the zip hoodie, also considering the zip hoodie the foundational hoodie when really its a variant is silicon valley propaganda

lmao

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:54 (ten years ago)

Bajas for life.

how's life, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:55 (ten years ago)

also i googled "zip vs pullover hoodie debate" and this thread comes up w/ basically the exact same argument verbatim about 7 months ago including zuckerberg = zip hoodie reference

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:55 (ten years ago)

anyway complaining abt gym clothes in this day and age seems a lil

shaming ppl over zip hoodies is one of my hobbies xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:57 (ten years ago)

zip hoodies arent even warm the wind just whistles right through the teeth and into your ribcage and then you are just a cold zuck with a limp flapping hood

adam, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 15:37 (ten years ago)

i'm definitely not complaining abt gym clothes. i love a good hoodie of both varieties. altho lately it's been zips b/c all of the pullovers i have bought in the last 3-ish years have ended up being formless duds :( thats on me tho, getting lazy abt trying shit on (zips are easier to try on at a store no doubt)

and i definitely associate zip hoodies w/ early 2000s hardcore bands more than tech bros, i guess my associations are out of date in 2k15

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 17:32 (ten years ago)

lol in my day pullovers were the hardcore hoodie of choice

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 17:44 (ten years ago)

fwiw I had an old blue champion pullover hoodie that I rocked for a really long time and it held its structure for years before starting to look a little too schlubby.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 17:45 (ten years ago)

I always felt like such a punk poser because I had a zip hoodie instead of a pullover.

how's life, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 18:10 (ten years ago)

this is like... i can't remember the years but no earlier than 2000 and no later than 2004

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 18:30 (ten years ago)

yeah I totally associate the zip hoodie with jersey hardcore kids

nobody cares about zip v pullover hoodies apart from itt

guess that kind of thought would end ilx in a day

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:06 (ten years ago)

besides that you are totally wrong, zip vs pullover is an exhausting conversation i have heard so many times on the internet and in real life, not just ilx, it's the hot-dog-is-a-sandwich of men's fashion

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:08 (ten years ago)

the only difference is idgaf zip vs pullover, whereas i have very strong feelings about hot dog as a sandwich

side note, in saskatchewan they call pullover hoodies "bunny hugs," which is adorable and belongs itt

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:09 (ten years ago)

the difference is it doesnt matter if u call a hot dog a sandwich u will still eat the hot dog but with hoodies u will wear the wrong hoodie

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:14 (ten years ago)

xp nobody cares about zip v pullover hoodies apart from itt

iirc never worn a hoodie myself but find the debate rather fascinating

I have one hoodie. It's a woman's hoodie an old roommate gave me like fifteen years ago. It is a zip hoodie and it's red and I wear it when it's raining enough that I need protection but not enough that i would take an umbrella.

you are sincerely welcome for my contribution to this torrid debate.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:28 (ten years ago)

sometimes I wear a sports jacket over it and I feel like I'm in a c. 2002 emo band or something, please save me from myself

(extremely nerds voice) (Clay), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:30 (ten years ago)

after thinking this over awhile, all i can come up with is pullovers = chill, zip-ups = unchill

rip van wanko, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:42 (ten years ago)

think someone already said that

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:43 (ten years ago)

also tech bros co-opted the zip hoodie, it's been around for a long time. are you gonna shit on jeans or sneakers too because guess what tech bros wear jeans and sneakers

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 20:18 (ten years ago)

tech bros own the zip hoodie sry and theres a reason they chose it, its bad

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 20:30 (ten years ago)

never going to renounce my zip hoodies I guess I'm ok with being wrong

I mean fratty douches who wear huge mesh shorts have had the pullover hoodie for a long time so not really seeing your point

pullover is definitely the hoodie of choice for expressing college football fandom, for example

lol dying here

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 22:26 (ten years ago)

i have four hoodies, two pullover and two zip, both have their place imo but I do notice I tend to wear the zip ones mostly zipped up

one of the pullovers is a supreme hoody made by reigning champ and it is pretty much bulletproof

one of the zip hoodies is a polo ralph lauren basic model, it is also extremely well made and has lasted years and years

i have to disagree with the james perse recommendation -awhile back I was buying a ton of his stuff and all of it fell apart within a year

if you want to talk stupidly expensive try real mccoy's. i have a few of their sweatshirts (not hoodies) and they are pretty much the finest sweatshirts known to man. i have had them for like six years and they pretty much look brand new

the late great, Thursday, 1 October 2015 05:11 (ten years ago)

now i feel somewhat like a jackass for ripping mccoy's, getting into "craftsmanship, consumerism, virtue, privilege, and quality" territory here i fear

the late great, Thursday, 1 October 2015 05:17 (ten years ago)

i have a james perse white tee and i agree the quality isn't amazing. not really bad, and it definitely feels nicer to wear than other tees i have, but after a couple of washes parts of it lost the smoothness. i've yet to find a type of white t-shirt that i can just keep buying, safe in the knowledge it is good fit and quality.

ive been living out of a suitcase for the last few months and am excited to be reunited w the rest of my clothes :)

lag∞n, Thursday, 1 October 2015 16:09 (ten years ago)

i don't like hoodies, wear sweatshirts only. i like reigning champ a lot, though I've never bought any of their t-shrits etc. just the sweatshirts.

I'm pretty happy with the Gustin tees for the price btw, although they're a little on the long side for me.

I've been looking at some shops/labels that I usually like and I'm starting to think AW15 just isn't for me. Everything is grey and in some weird material.

pep ponk aliyev (seandalai), Friday, 9 October 2015 23:49 (ten years ago)

Pullover hoodies look OK but they're too much of a commitment. With zip-ups, you can moderate your temperature. In a pullover when I overhear I have to take the whole thing off.

I guess I could pull it up over my belly till I cool off.
