Re hoodies, look for a good deal at Nordstrom Rack on James Perse or Vince.

I know some Civil War re-enactors you might want to talk to (Eazy), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 04:28 (ten years ago)

I kind of covet some of those reigning champ hoodies but they're stupid expensive.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 04:48 (ten years ago)

american giant hoodies are v popular and purportedly well made, and less expensive, but reigning champs look better imo

pullover hoodies >>>>>>>>> zippered hoodies

Champion Hoody & Crewneck Splash

First off, Champion is owned by Hanes… thats already a good look.

You will not find one loose stitching on these joints, im telling you the quality is on point..

They are actually better made than some of these high designer brands.

VC, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 05:17 (ten years ago)

You need both zip and pullover, but zip is far superior. #teamzip

Jeff, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 09:47 (ten years ago)

yeah def maybe get a nice startup logo on there too lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 13:01 (ten years ago)

if u picture a zip hoodie when someone says hoodie u r a hoodie noob

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 13:01 (ten years ago)

yeah no need to have this debate again but for the record I only wear zips

thanks for the recommendations btw

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 13:02 (ten years ago)

let me tell you something - someone just gave me a black padded hooded winter coat for FREE

also get this - i went to my local 100 yr old pharmacy and i think i had taken a klonopin so i was like, what do you have for hair? i was like i don't like gel. so he goes well a lot of my male customers like this: GROOM CLEAN. it is basically BRYLCREAM buy by Suave. it has that smell of men in 1920s movies and like outdated sound production. it's kind of fucking awesome. "greasless" so i can still touch my hair (i play with my hair sometimes)

lets not have this debate again guys

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 13:40 (ten years ago)

hate to argue, live and let live, non-zipper hoodie ppl seem content to be the geocentrists of casual wear

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 13:55 (ten years ago)

haha xp, i fully admit there is something very tech bro about the zip hoodie but i still like it

part of the reason why i said i was thinking about getting one a few sizes up, just to have this big zip hoodie to swim in, hands in the pockets, like a big cardigan almost but less "old librarian". imo the tech bro zip hoodie is a very fitted hoodie

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:04 (ten years ago)

the thing abt the zip hoodie cultural implications aside is its just a very formless garment, i dont like how the hood lays totally flat and limp, rendered vestigial, where the true hoodie has some structural integrity and perk, zip hood is fine for lounging around the house but its basically just comfort wear, doesnt really look too good, no wonder its become a symbol for ppl who consider themselves above frivolities like dressing well

i mean im not saying its impossible to rock one with style but generally the effect is of a sandwich with soggy bread, which is a shame since theres a such a far superior sweatshirt with even the same name avlaible

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:25 (ten years ago)

ah to me the pullover is the more formless one, you are just wearing this big blanket imo, though I do agree about how the pullover avoids that limp hood thing. I just like too the extra aesthetic feature/detail/contrast that the zipper provides esp if it is a metal zipper

also zuck is awful but the black zip hoodie is pretty classic and untouchable imo

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:34 (ten years ago)

xp agree with that, an open zip hoodie has more scope for styling, or mb those off-centre zips with more structured hoods

really enjoying everyone's top button angst though I hope there's more to come

ogmor, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:34 (ten years ago)

hate to bring this up but seems like an appropriate time

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:38 (ten years ago)

wow this one is really bringing them out of the woodwork eh

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:38 (ten years ago)

just sayin

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:39 (ten years ago)

you really shdnt expect ppl to appreciate yr comfy garment the way you do, thats a category error of a two year old

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:40 (ten years ago)

unrelated but as i came into work today i still had my cleveland browns cap on w/ the flat brim and an attractive colleague saw me and said i "looked so cute like a ten year old" :( not what i was going for lol

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:45 (ten years ago)

arguing over whether pullover or zip is a better look is like... come on, they both look _at best_ "not sloppy." you're wearing it because you're cold and it's p comfortable, don't get on a high horse here. You're wearing gym clothes.

xxpost yeah lags nailed it

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:48 (ten years ago)

gym clothes can look great anything can look great, pull over hoodie just generally looks greater than the zip hoodie, also considering the zip hoodie the foundational hoodie when really its a variant is silicon valley propaganda

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:53 (ten years ago)

lmao

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:54 (ten years ago)

Bajas for life.

how's life, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:55 (ten years ago)

also i googled "zip vs pullover hoodie debate" and this thread comes up w/ basically the exact same argument verbatim about 7 months ago including zuckerberg = zip hoodie reference

marcos, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:55 (ten years ago)

anyway complaining abt gym clothes in this day and age seems a lil

http://i.imgur.com/8o1t5ZP.png

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:56 (ten years ago)

shaming ppl over zip hoodies is one of my hobbies xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 14:57 (ten years ago)

zip hoodies arent even warm the wind just whistles right through the teeth and into your ribcage and then you are just a cold zuck with a limp flapping hood

adam, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 15:37 (ten years ago)

i'm definitely not complaining abt gym clothes. i love a good hoodie of both varieties. altho lately it's been zips b/c all of the pullovers i have bought in the last 3-ish years have ended up being formless duds :( thats on me tho, getting lazy abt trying shit on (zips are easier to try on at a store no doubt)

and i definitely associate zip hoodies w/ early 2000s hardcore bands more than tech bros, i guess my associations are out of date in 2k15

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 17:32 (ten years ago)

lol in my day pullovers were the hardcore hoodie of choice

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 17:44 (ten years ago)

fwiw I had an old blue champion pullover hoodie that I rocked for a really long time and it held its structure for years before starting to look a little too schlubby.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 17:45 (ten years ago)

I always felt like such a punk poser because I had a zip hoodie instead of a pullover.

how's life, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 18:10 (ten years ago)

this is like... i can't remember the years but no earlier than 2000 and no later than 2004

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 18:30 (ten years ago)

yeah I totally associate the zip hoodie with jersey hardcore kids

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 18:46 (ten years ago)

nobody cares about zip v pullover hoodies apart from itt

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:05 (ten years ago)

guess that kind of thought would end ilx in a day

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:06 (ten years ago)

besides that you are totally wrong, zip vs pullover is an exhausting conversation i have heard so many times on the internet and in real life, not just ilx, it's the hot-dog-is-a-sandwich of men's fashion

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:08 (ten years ago)

the only difference is idgaf zip vs pullover, whereas i have very strong feelings about hot dog as a sandwich

side note, in saskatchewan they call pullover hoodies "bunny hugs," which is adorable and belongs itt

nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:09 (ten years ago)

the difference is it doesnt matter if u call a hot dog a sandwich u will still eat the hot dog but with hoodies u will wear the wrong hoodie

lag∞n, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 19:14 (ten years ago)

xp nobody cares about zip v pullover hoodies apart from itt

iirc never worn a hoodie myself but find the debate rather fascinating
