Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 17 September 2015 17:45 (ten years ago)

tailoring question: how much would you expect to pay in nyc for the following alterations:

suit: let out jacket, let out waist, hem pants
wool pants: let out waist, hem pants
jeans: take in waist, hem pants

?

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 17 September 2015 20:42 (ten years ago)

suit: $80?
pants: $40?
jeans: $50 if selvedge?

ish

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 17 September 2015 21:31 (ten years ago)

Ok, I paid more than that, feel like it was too expensive, but I was sort of in a pinch. He may have charged more for the rush suit order.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 17 September 2015 21:40 (ten years ago)

suit guess on the low side in hindsight

tailor near my office called Peppi's Tailor, little one-man shop. Had some very positive reviews on google and yelp (though not a lot of reviews), and when I talked to the guy on the phone I just liked him for some reason, sounded confident that he knew what he was doing or something.

But he didn't really give me a full breakdown of the itemized charges, just the total, and I was so panicked about making sure the suit is going to be ready (for a wedding) and since he could get it done fast I just said ok. So I feel like he probably overcharged me a little on purpose, but IDK.

hello, it me (clouds), Friday, 18 September 2015 14:12 (ten years ago)

what is the sock choice with white sneaks? white seems weird, black seems too stark. i guess i'd go with grey or maybe any color besides black/white with pants, then no-show with shorts?

rip van wanko, Friday, 18 September 2015 14:27 (ten years ago)

White sneakers for me will always be associated with doughy guys on their way to synagogue on Yom Kippur, just can't do it.

i like gray socks with white sneakers, especially since a lot of white sneakers are actually off-white

adam, Friday, 18 September 2015 15:29 (ten years ago)

no being tall is considered a good thing in our culture

lag∞n, Friday, 18 September 2015 15:30 (ten years ago)

yes but then i worry i am making all the other less tall ppl feel bad when i rock xtra high profile sneaks

adam, Friday, 18 September 2015 15:32 (ten years ago)

what is up with like male models buttoning the top button of a shirt

marcos, Wednesday, 23 September 2015 21:26 (ten years ago)

i don't really see that many people w/ shirts buttoned to the top

but when i look at shirts online to buy the models always have them buttoned

marcos, Wednesday, 23 September 2015 23:20 (ten years ago)

lately I've been feeling like I need a whole new wardrobe

like I have some jeans and a couple shirts that I like but nothing else that is really working

favorite tees are falling apart past being wearable

favorite hoodie all of a sudden starts to feel like it fits very weirdly, maybe it is just too old at this point
