one of my most treasured summer tees is a tie dye w/ camo pattern & colors

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 11 September 2015 14:18 (ten years ago)

very much like this except with the big stupid word on it:

all the college students are back in boston and today was one of the first autumn-like days (breezy and high 60s w/ those fall-like spotty clouds) and there are ton of young people wearing scarves and shit. i noticed this trend in the spring a little but it was out of hand today -- women wearing these totally baggy, over-sized military jackets, it is very widespread but looks dope and i am not a woman but i really want one of these jackets tbh

I recommend dating a scooterist and keeping his parka when you dump him, that's what I did.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 14 September 2015 18:56 (ten years ago)

I would like to take some credit for the oversized parka thing tyvm since I've been wearing it out of satisfaction/spite for 5 years.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 14 September 2015 18:57 (ten years ago)

lol

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 14 September 2015 18:59 (ten years ago)

yes! they are all fishtails!

i had the opportunity to buy one last year but i didn't, i am regretting it

marcos, Monday, 14 September 2015 19:15 (ten years ago)

am i a dink if i really wanna buy one of the fjallraven winter parkas :/

also when the fuck are they going to release the 2015 ones. we even got a pop up store but i looked in the window and no winter parkas yet!!!

Bouncy Castlevania (Will M.), Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:40 (ten years ago)

feel like i need a parka too. i have not had a really satisfactory winter coat like ever. i always end up settling for something that is just okay and because they are bulky winter coats i tend not to buy multiple ones.

i really want a winter coat that is wool or something, maybe a herringbone pattern. my colleague has this amazing green herringbone wool coat and i have honestly thought about asking him to sell it to me. i have a "technical" winter coat that is okay and a peacoat that i've had for about 15 years but i am tired of both

marcos, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:49 (ten years ago)

i was gonna say i like the fishtail ones. i have a navy wool coat - it's not really formal but i prob would still wear a parka for certain kinds of weather.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:53 (ten years ago)

also something weird happened this summer, i became okay with wearing hats! like baseball caps. i have not worn a baseball cap in probably 20 years. a while ago my brother bought cleveland browns caps for me and my two other brothers (we grew up in cleveland) and i don't give a shit about the browns or football at all but i dig that it's a cleveland hat and tbh i think the browns colors (brown & orange) are great on me so i have been wearing this hat lately and i love it

marcos, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:53 (ten years ago)

Yeah I also have never had a winter coat I liked much -- I had this cheapy one for a few years, finally fell apart last year, wanted to spring for a Spiewak last winter but settled on a London Fog parka that turned out to have a shitty zipper that gets fucked up quickly and can't be fixed.

I also need some kind of nicer overcoat/coat to wear with a suit or work clothes. I bought this vintage pendleton herringbone coat last year and it just wound up looking a little TOO vintagey.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:54 (ten years ago)

i'm getting a trench this year it's like this big decision i'm making. well i already have a vintage one in black i should dryclean

surm, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:56 (ten years ago)

in the straight vs. curved brim debate i fall pretty strictly on the straight brim but i can't say why exactly

marcos, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 14:56 (ten years ago)

"flat" not "straight", rather

marcos, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 15:02 (ten years ago)

i am not nearly street enough to rock a flat brim, to my chagrin and dismay

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 15 September 2015 15:49 (ten years ago)

nah you can do it!!

marcos, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 15:51 (ten years ago)

I got a lovely czech army parka about 3 years ago. Really thick lining, the warmest coat I've ever owned, nice shade of green, & cut a bit shorter (fishtails don't look right on me).

woof, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 15:59 (ten years ago)

I can't get anything stylish with a winter coat, it must just be the warmest coat possible. Considered purchasing this one last year: http://featheredfriends.com/rock-ice-down-parka.html

And these pants: http://featheredfriends.com/40-below-down-pants.html

Or maybe I just just go all in and get the suit: http://featheredfriends.com/expedition-down-suit.html

Jeff, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 16:03 (ten years ago)

I get really cold.

Jeff, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 16:04 (ten years ago)

the black one is not bad i dont really like the two tone paneling of the rest tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 16:08 (ten years ago)

yea black one is pretty cool

i think i need a break from "technical" winter wear personally

marcos, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 16:23 (ten years ago)

ya my parka is non tech

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 September 2015 16:37 (ten years ago)

I'm going to start an ultra-warm parka company called Special Snowflake

marcos, Thursday, 17 September 2015 14:05 (ten years ago)

around the house when it is super hot i wear these retro climbing shorts from patagonia with no shirt and my browns snapback hat i'll admit that i dig this look and wish i could wear it out

marcos, Thursday, 17 September 2015 14:06 (ten years ago)

haven't worn boxers in maybe 10 years

apparently in thailand during the summer guys will wear boxers as shorts (with briefs underneath)

hello, it me (clouds), Thursday, 17 September 2015 14:20 (ten years ago)

^ in the small town i grew up in this was totally a style for 1-2 summers. we had some weird isolated styles sometimes

you should have bought a bigger size

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 17 September 2015 17:45 (ten years ago)

tailoring question: how much would you expect to pay in nyc for the following alterations:

suit: let out jacket, let out waist, hem pants
wool pants: let out waist, hem pants
jeans: take in waist, hem pants

?

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 17 September 2015 20:42 (ten years ago)

suit: $80?
pants: $40?
jeans: $50 if selvedge?

ish

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 17 September 2015 21:31 (ten years ago)

Ok, I paid more than that, feel like it was too expensive, but I was sort of in a pinch. He may have charged more for the rush suit order.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Thursday, 17 September 2015 21:40 (ten years ago)

suit guess on the low side in hindsight

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 17 September 2015 22:00 (ten years ago)

started my CORP job this week, bought some expensive italian shirts

flopson, Thursday, 17 September 2015 22:40 (ten years ago)

man alive, where did you go for tailoring?

chinavision!, Thursday, 17 September 2015 23:06 (ten years ago)

how long is...

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Thursday, 17 September 2015 23:13 (ten years ago)

tailor near my office called Peppi's Tailor, little one-man shop. Had some very positive reviews on google and yelp (though not a lot of reviews), and when I talked to the guy on the phone I just liked him for some reason, sounded confident that he knew what he was doing or something.

But he didn't really give me a full breakdown of the itemized charges, just the total, and I was so panicked about making sure the suit is going to be ready (for a wedding) and since he could get it done fast I just said ok. So I feel like he probably overcharged me a little on purpose, but IDK.
