shirt #1 is WOOD WOOD Cy shirt. Twombly ref? it looks more like howard hodgkin

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Thursday, 23 July 2015 22:45 (ten years ago)

(no offence to people) (dog latin), Friday, 24 July 2015 08:58 (ten years ago)

w/r/t shirts, i have been switching it up btw oversize and like XS it's fun

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 15:37 (ten years ago)

i have a black longline t-shirt now and i like it because it means i can stand up straight without feeling like i'm gonna show people my midriff. that said i've only worn it out once or twice cos sometimes tbf it looks a bit like a dress. it's about pairing it with the right clothes and i haven't quite worked that out yet.

I got my first pair of Gustin jeans, which is really my first pair of anything remotely approaching *good* denim. They're blue-black (sort of a dark navy that winds up looking different in different lights), and I sort of wish I bought something more classic, but they have a really nice weight and feel, and get very comfy quickly even though they're slightly tight when I put them on.

I got the "straight fit" and I feel like there's something a little square about the cut, but I can't put my finger on it. I also got a Gustin oxford shirt (slim) and felt kind of the same way about the cut -- very square.

five six and (man alive), Friday, 24 July 2015 15:45 (ten years ago)

that's my favorite color denim

i don't think i ever told you guys about my recent epiphany. i wear my glasses when i get dressed for work now. i didn't used to. it has changed everything and i can't imagine what i looked like all these years.

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 15:47 (ten years ago)

xps i do typically like tshirts to be a little loose. i can't stand tight necks or short arms on my tees. i am a skinny dude and buy size small in button downs but in tees i always buy medium

marcos, Friday, 24 July 2015 15:58 (ten years ago)

xp i really need to buy new frames, like i have gone on way too long with the same black wire frames

marcos, Friday, 24 July 2015 15:59 (ten years ago)

i don't need to wear glasses all the time which is why i always put off picking out new ones but i am so tired of the black wire ones i have

marcos, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:00 (ten years ago)

mine are black buddy holly glasses, but i need new ones too, i look good in clear frames

yeah i'm really picky about tshirt sizing, it depends on the shirt but i have some XXL tanks that i like to wear in the summer

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:02 (ten years ago)

does anyone know anywhere in πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ right now that has plain white and office blue short sleeve linen shirts in stock? uniqlo is out.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 24 July 2015 16:30 (ten years ago)

have you tried H&M? i have a shortsleeved linen button down from them that i got years ago but maybe they still make them.

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:36 (ten years ago)

i have not. i should give them a shot! turns out july is a bad time to buy linen s/s shirts.

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 24 July 2015 16:40 (ten years ago)

H&M is worth a shot. I stocked up on linen pants when I was there last. feel like they've become sorta forgotten in uniqlo's shadow, and tbh aren't as consistent, stock some weird stuff, are kind of dumpy stores sometimes, but do sometimes have some basics that uniqlo runs out of.

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:47 (ten years ago)

which is the least bad h&m in nyc?

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 24 July 2015 16:48 (ten years ago)

not sure, it's a crap shoot. i just checked their site, their short sleeve linens seem to be mostly in prints.

but look at banana:
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=44873&departmentRedirect=true#style=1011319

i think they might have some

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:50 (ten years ago)

think there's one around 42 that's not bad - i'm pretty sure H&M does it intentionally where not all their stores carry all their lines, the one on 42 has a pretty complete MENSWEAR section iirc

龜, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:51 (ten years ago)

I went to the one by penn station. I don't know if it was bad or not, but it's probably not as crowded as say the ones in more central shopping locations

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:55 (ten years ago)

it's a little depressing inside though

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:55 (ten years ago)

and outside

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 16:56 (ten years ago)

Banana Republic (and Gap) clothing always miss the mark for me. I've occasionally gotten really good prices on workwear in their sales, but I feel like I can almost always get equivalent quality with better style in J. Crew sales.

five six and (man alive), Friday, 24 July 2015 17:01 (ten years ago)

i have heard that before and consistently have to rep for the fact that B.R. can still come out with some really good items. i'm not saying the whole store, but for instance their pants fit me - oddly JC pants never fit me. and they make a good belt. but yes i would agree with you on a general level, especially for shirts.

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:05 (ten years ago)

lol h&m stores are super depressing why is that

lol

lag∞n, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:14 (ten years ago)

h&m stores are more cluttered compared to uniqlo, and there is questionable art & furnishings, and they play loud obnoxious music

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:22 (ten years ago)

havent found anything in h&m so long just stopped trying

lag∞n, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:23 (ten years ago)

the whole enterprise feels cheap

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:23 (ten years ago)

I would just go for linen shirts & pants, maybe a polo. just really basic stuff if uniqlo is out

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:24 (ten years ago)

so there: H&M - for if uniqlo is out

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:24 (ten years ago)

I work in marketing

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:24 (ten years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:25 (ten years ago)

it's another place where you have to dig. i have some great pieces from them (a couple of shirts, a blazer, a vest) - but there is a lot of crap.

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 17:45 (ten years ago)

caek try Aigle

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Friday, 24 July 2015 18:09 (ten years ago)

feel like h&m has some reasonable stuff but yeah a lot of things that miss the mark for me and lots of fluff

uniqlo is like rows of obvious basics, and if you need that basic item, it will prob fit your needs

the H&M soundtrack is very curated

龜, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:20 (ten years ago)

i like uniqlo but i always feel like i expect better pants there. like i mostly just find jeans and cords that would suit me, and i don't even wear cords.

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:24 (ten years ago)

thanks tracer but i'm in usa now

π” π”žπ”’π”¨ (caek), Friday, 24 July 2015 18:30 (ten years ago)

I like the idea that when you're standing in uniqlo your general expectation of better pants in life rises, and when you walk out it's gone

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:48 (ten years ago)

that's exactly what happens. every time.

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:48 (ten years ago)

when I'm in uniqlo I expect improved political discourse

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:49 (ten years ago)

but greater coarseness in art

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:50 (ten years ago)

shoot I forgot to make an american aigle joke

chinavision!, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:51 (ten years ago)

when i'm in any mall or shop ever i feel like a real, American man

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 18:53 (ten years ago)

caek i thought maybe they had.. american.. ah fuck it yeah

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Friday, 24 July 2015 19:00 (ten years ago)

going to america tomorrow actually and am stoked for the cheap jeans scene

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Friday, 24 July 2015 19:01 (ten years ago)

i wanna get like 3 pairs of Lees for under $100

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Friday, 24 July 2015 19:13 (ten years ago)

i used to love Lees!

speaking of America my favorite "wake up in the morning" look these days is Tommy white boxer briefs and a white tee

i feel like Princess Di

surm, Friday, 24 July 2015 19:14 (ten years ago)

I am pretty much that in black tbh
