Just noticed the interview is Wed, so unless you already have a suit, you're not going to be able to get one fitted and altered by then (pretty hard to find a suit that fits off the rack). You could still do jacket slacks and tie though. Bring the pants and shirt to a dept store or something and just ask them to give you a jacket and tie that would work with them, if you don't have one.

Internet shopping has affected me strangely -- all my life I thought I hated clothes but I think I actually just hated going shopping.

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 14:21 (ten years ago)

xxp i like ties too! they're beautiful. i just wish they didn't piss me off so much.

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 15:25 (ten years ago)

a friend has a similar thing about ties and his neck - he won't even button up a collar, almost like a phobia.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:26 (ten years ago)

he's also afraid of balloons

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:26 (ten years ago)

I won't button up my top collar - very unpleasant and uncomfy.

(no offence to people) (dog latin), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:27 (ten years ago)

that means you're wearing shirts with a too-small neck

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 15:29 (ten years ago)

i only ever button up if wearing a tie, don't really like that modern trend for buttoning casual shirts up all the way - but yeah it shouldn't be painful.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:32 (ten years ago)

yeah hate that trend, you look like you forgot your tie

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 15:34 (ten years ago)

it is like bad asos model or mid-level radio 1 band

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:36 (ten years ago)

it's not so much that it's painful, but i just don't like the feeling of the collar rubbing on my adams apple brrrrr...!

(no offence to people) (dog latin), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:36 (ten years ago)

i see this constantly:

denim baseball cap
white canvas shoes
invisible socks
sunglasses
patterned shirt buttoned to the top
long dress shorts
stubble
rollie

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:47 (ten years ago)

invisible tie is an advanced look imo some ppl can pull it off but its tricky, i never do it cause itd be off brand

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 15:51 (ten years ago)

Know the exact look Tracer means, fuck that revenge of the nerds bullshit

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 15:55 (ten years ago)

i like that look but it def cn be a lil too on the nose

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 15:56 (ten years ago)

some shirts look better buttoned up esp under a jumper

ogmor, Monday, 20 July 2015 15:58 (ten years ago)

i usually don't button the top but the trend isn't going away just yet and i like it on occasion, with the right ensemble

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 17:59 (ten years ago)

it doesn't bother me that much but i have never even really attempted it, just would not work for me

marcos, Monday, 20 July 2015 18:01 (ten years ago)

i will sometimes pair a buttoned up to the top shirt with a smart pant if the shirt in question is too loose at the color and it makes for a good patrician effect

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 18:03 (ten years ago)

it's funny how there's this trend at the same time for bros to have two buttons down on their summer biz casual shirt with no undershirt, like I'm just a chill, chesty bro relaxin at my investment bank

i fuck wit this sometimes but you really have to pick your moments

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 18:30 (ten years ago)

Yeah it's not so bad tbh, I like the fact that over the last few years men's style in NYC has started to find ways to actually acknowledge that it's hot and gross out without going the cargo shorts and birks route.

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 18:40 (ten years ago)

^ yup exactly

i definitely wear what i want to wear

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 18:41 (ten years ago)

along those lines, i am hereby amending my comments on jean shorts and going on record as saying that they are indeed acceptable if cut at home and worn in only the right circumstances

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 18:55 (ten years ago)

these just arrived http://kicksdeals.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/new-balance-580-revlite-navy-grey-2.jpg -- great deal for $45, and I almost want to get a second pair to use as gym shoes because they're so comfy and flexible

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 18:57 (ten years ago)

great sneaks for sure

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 19:07 (ten years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 19:10 (ten years ago)

Couldn't find a pair of shorts in my house yesterday so I just cut off a pair of old grey jeans, FEELS SO GOOD RIGHT NOW

idgaf haters diy jorts are one of the most wonderful feelings in the world on a hot day. comfy like your old jeans, freedom like not wearing pants

Bouncy Castlevania (Will M.), Monday, 20 July 2015 19:17 (ten years ago)

AM I REHASHING A CONVERSATION FROM 3W AGO IN THIS VERY THREAD? MAYBE
DO I CARE? ACUTALLY KINDA, SORRY ABOUT THAT EVERYONE

Bouncy Castlevania (Will M.), Monday, 20 July 2015 19:25 (ten years ago)

don't think there were any diy jort haters, it was mainly me going ham on hemmed jorts iirc

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Monday, 20 July 2015 19:36 (ten years ago)

thts true everyone seemed ok on that

agreed on hem BUT i might get into hot water w/ ils because i am cuffing these jorts, kosher y/n?

Bouncy Castlevania (Will M.), Monday, 20 July 2015 19:46 (ten years ago)

cuffed cutoffs r the best jorts imo --a non jorts wearer

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 20:08 (ten years ago)

cuffs are OK because they imply the presence of a ragged cutoff or at least don't foreclose the possibility

tbh i have never strayed from new balance.

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 20:57 (ten years ago)

hemmed jorts are fine. i am loving my hemmed jorts. this is definitely a us thing.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Monday, 20 July 2015 20:59 (ten years ago)

it's also a YOU thing. if you can rock hemmed jean shorts, more power to you.

surm, Monday, 20 July 2015 21:02 (ten years ago)
