saw an emo looking guy, maybe 22 yrs old very casually wearing a black and white dress over his skinny jeans today. i was more into the audacity than the look, but it didn't look bad

ogmor, Thursday, 9 July 2015 18:15 (eleven years ago)

so hot

surm, Monday, 13 July 2015 17:04 (ten years ago)

I definitely needed shorts over the weekend (like hell am I going to wear pants at an outdoor music festival when it's 90 degrees out) and I wasn't feeling into any I had so I took a knife to some of my yardwork jeans

it's good :)

Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 14 July 2015 19:40 (ten years ago)

sometimes a knife is all a man has

surm, Wednesday, 15 July 2015 13:20 (ten years ago)

bought some AA pocket tees in what i was hoping were a nice olive green, but instead they looked like this weird combo of army green and forest green that looked weird super weird? i don't know maybe it is me that is weird. forest green is a weird color on me. anyways we were on the north carolina coast last week so i left them out in the sun all week and they are now all faded and exactly the color i was looking for, i am very pleased

marcos, Friday, 17 July 2015 15:29 (ten years ago)

Steven Alan sample sale again. I picked up a black collegiate shirt for 58 and a pair of classic blue new balances for like 45.

five six and (man alive), Friday, 17 July 2015 15:34 (ten years ago)

BTW ordered a few things from bonobos recently and even at sale prices it seems questionable whether the quality is worth it. I do like the cuts though.

five six and (man alive), Friday, 17 July 2015 15:39 (ten years ago)

Steven Alan can suck my cock. i'm sorry, that was uncalled for. actually my favorite button down is from Steven Alan. it's just his NAME. Steven. ALAN. drives me crazy. sounds like a computer nerd who like one day went to fashion school, sewed a couple of good button-ups, and changed his last name

surm, Friday, 17 July 2015 15:42 (ten years ago)

what is this "vivobarefoot" shoe brand and why is zappos convinced they are good to advertise to me?

surm, Friday, 17 July 2015 21:54 (ten years ago)

generally the sales this year seemed p great - i mean my apparently exorbitant jorts notwithstanding

for the health goth crew: http://www.mrporter.com/mens/nike/qt-s-premium-essentials-dri-fit-jersey-t-shirt/576320

and i guess this also goes back to people who don't hate longline t-shirt. got that this week, really nice fit.

flopson, Monday, 20 July 2015 01:43 (ten years ago)

Where are you and what industry is the job interview in? In my field you'd rarely wear anything less than a suit and tie to an interview.

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:07 (ten years ago)

Steve 'n' Alan sample sale is now in final mode where you get extra % off if you order enough stuff, I'm not gonna do it because I bought too much shit lately already, but you can wind up with some pretty good deals if you want to spend 2-300 total.

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:08 (ten years ago)

city in canada; job is doing stats stuff for an airline

flopson, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:10 (ten years ago)

I like but am not going to buy these jeans:
http://www.stevenalan.com/S15_1_MPT0065.html?dwvar_S15__1__MPT0065_color=G420#cgid=samplesalemens-viewall&prefn1=size&view=all&frmt=ajax&prefv1=M&start=0&hitcount=159

I have seen this coat on their site for a long time, and it's a pretty good price now, but I can't decide whether it'd actually work for me, just looks like one of those fabrics you have to see in person:

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:12 (ten years ago)

xp: is there any way you can ask someone? You could just call the receptionist and be like "hi I have an interview there, what kind of dress is preferred?"

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:12 (ten years ago)

jacket would prob be a good idea flopson, no clue if tie is needed but maybe not if the job is somewhat technical

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:12 (ten years ago)

job is corporate so a suit prob wldnt be held against u a the least, even if prob no one ever wears one in yr department, tho im feeling jacket no tie more, asking someone is prob best of all if possible, mostly just try to look compedent and charming

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:21 (ten years ago)

i like this agree re the fabric tho, i might be tempted to pull the trigger at that price

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:24 (ten years ago)

imo jacket no tie is always better than tie no jacket

marcos, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:24 (ten years ago)

tie no jacket is always a bad idea

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:25 (ten years ago)

k cool i will get a hold of a jacket, thx everybody

flopson, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:27 (ten years ago)

yea agree

marcos, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:27 (ten years ago)

tie no jacket = amateur hour, in any situation

marcos, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:28 (ten years ago)

I won't go that far, but it's very hard to pull off well

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:29 (ten years ago)

and even when done well it's more of an insouciant thing and not for job interviews

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:30 (ten years ago)

tie no jacket is for sure bad

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:31 (ten years ago)

yeah it can work as like a fashion look maybe sometimes but it's not a category of professional dress

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:36 (ten years ago)

feel like it is a thing college students do often i guess cause they dont own a jacket?

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:38 (ten years ago)

right, it's a lot easier to buy an unsized $20 tie than a jacket

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:39 (ten years ago)

basically the official look of bank tellers (who are fantastic people, but aim higher)

call all destroyer, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:41 (ten years ago)

Suit and tie is the best default, No one has ever failed an interview for being too smart, regardless of the type of job. Lots of people have failed for not being smart enough.

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:48 (ten years ago)

there r def companies who wld not hire u for wearing a suit, but like i said since this is corporate its not gonna be one

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:49 (ten years ago)

True enough I guess. You should be as smart as you possibly can be though on the whole.

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:53 (ten years ago)

Yeah, I wouldn't wear a suit to a lot of tech companies, startups etc. Also there's this one asshole large lawfirm who thinks it's some kind of fabulous perk that people wear jeans and t-shirts in office and they really like it when people don't come in a suit to the interview.

five six and (man alive), Monday, 20 July 2015 02:57 (ten years ago)

its a p good perk tbh u cn prob sleep more that way

lag∞n, Monday, 20 July 2015 02:58 (ten years ago)

i wore a tie on my first day in a job in tech (i hadn't formally interviewed but was in as a contractor) and literally the first thing i was told from the first guy i met was to lose the tie
