jean shorts (usually cuffed, often black) have been the summer pant of choice for every dirtbag dude in toronto and la for like half a decade? if anything i would say there were less ubiquitous in ldn the summers ive been there than in north america, but ive not spent lots of time in east ldn realness

feel like the 'trend' shorts this summer are starkly patterned (often b&w) tailored shorts and v loose 'athletic' shorts. i actually picked up a pair of these - there basically like short sweat pants - from philip lim last wknd. also seeing more early 00s referencing patchwork shorts but i think thats probably too fashion to every really catch on

fwiw personally wld not pay fifty five pounds for jorts

doug ellin (Lamp), Thursday, 25 June 2015 02:14 (eleven years ago)

what wld you pay for fifty five pound jorts tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 03:41 (eleven years ago)

How much were the Philip Lim sweatshorts?

my feeling is that shorts cost maybe 30 or 35 in fast fashion or whatever, so 55 for a pair in a simple style I'll wear again is a good deal. I like the sweat shorts a lot but I'd be slower to spend on something that is such a simple material, and maybe more tied to a current trend for sportswear.

I dunno tho, caveat all my posts here with the fact I am working in a ludicrous freelance job that pays me a rate I never thought I'd be able to earn in the career I do.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 June 2015 07:56 (eleven years ago)

Who knew jort modelling could be so lucrative

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 June 2015 08:05 (eleven years ago)

make sure you're putting aside for tax. hmrc will take your jorts.

woof, Thursday, 25 June 2015 08:46 (eleven years ago)

Ah yeah I am setting up a limited company at the moment, used an umbrella comp until now.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 June 2015 08:52 (eleven years ago)

I'd like some jorts but I don't have any jeans that I think would make some good ones. and I don't have $50.

Jeff, Thursday, 25 June 2015 11:01 (eleven years ago)

i would wear jorts but dont current own any, mostly switching btween simple aa shorts and some norse projects sweat shorts i got on sale, but i never wear shorts to the office so my shorts window per week is p small

max, Thursday, 25 June 2015 11:40 (eleven years ago)

I know, I have two pairs that I like. Which is fine until I have a 3 day weekend.

Jeff, Thursday, 25 June 2015 12:23 (eleven years ago)

Yeah I prob will stick to one pair.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 June 2015 12:54 (eleven years ago)

the reason jorts are cuffed is because they're meant to give the appearance of jeans that have been cut off, even if they weren't

if they're not cuffed, the hem looks kind of weird mid-leg

Upright Mammal (mh), Thursday, 25 June 2015 13:34 (eleven years ago)

feel like a flaw in jorts is u wear shorts because its hot out but denim is no good in the heat

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 13:55 (eleven years ago)

That's why they're good in the UK.

cod latin (dog latin), Thursday, 25 June 2015 13:57 (eleven years ago)

but if its not too hot then why wear shorts do people want to wear shorts

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 13:58 (eleven years ago)

I work in a more suburban-y part of Brooklyn now which means I see a lot more mantoddlers wearing oversized shirts and dad jorts and/or over-long khaki cargo shorts (do those have a name? abomination is thy name).

Help.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:04 (eleven years ago)

i like the jorts with the raw edges and that are stringy

, Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:07 (eleven years ago)

of course you do, that is when they are good

i can even get with cuffed shorts because as MH says it suggests they were cut off in the first place

what i cannot abide is a HEM on JORTS it is UNCONSCIONABLE. BAN this SICK FILTH. if i see with with these you cannot stay my friend anymore, i am sorry, and i will be sorry to lose you as a friend

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:13 (eleven years ago)

plus like... surely the destiny of all jeans is to end up as awesomely broken-in jorts that you get FOR FREE

transparent play for gifs (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:14 (eleven years ago)

I cringed really hard seeing that image Tracer just linked

Upright Mammal (mh), Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:20 (eleven years ago)

they are skinny fit jorts

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:22 (eleven years ago)

who cares if they have a hem, who can even look at them long enough to notice?

I've never worn jorts in my life to be honest, I was just trying to boost this thread's numbers

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 June 2015 14:56 (eleven years ago)

pls nobody get me started on cargos again

surm, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:39 (eleven years ago)

feel like our long national cargomare is finally over

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:42 (eleven years ago)

cargos are alive and well in many places throughout the US

marcos, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:48 (eleven years ago)

I still have cargos, but they are my backup shorts.

Jeff, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:49 (eleven years ago)

i dont think they will ever truly die but they have been knocked back to the point where theyre manageable

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:50 (eleven years ago)

like the pants are rare these days its mostly only shorts

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:50 (eleven years ago)

my god if i saw the pants...

surm, Thursday, 25 June 2015 15:56 (eleven years ago)

one thing that annoys me abt the 'net is as it grows in volume it becomes harder to find infos of yesteryear since the vast majority of content is new like i just tried to find what is imo the definitive cargo look, its from the early 00s and i like to think of it as "the jamie foxx" cargo pants paired with a ribbed mock tneck, the wearer was saying to themselves i am funky cool and also a lil bit classy this outfit is the bomb

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:01 (eleven years ago)

im trying to picture what shoes when with it

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:05 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:09 (eleven years ago)

I've seen kinda slim cargo pants a bit in the last few years.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:12 (eleven years ago)

Somebody is trying hard to get cargo pants to make a comeback in women's fashion. I've almost bought them a couple of times - all those glorious pockets!

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:16 (eleven years ago)

feel like i've seen pants with a 'iphone 6+ / hueg samsung galaxy' special pocket in the front but i don't really recall

, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:17 (eleven years ago)

during the height of cargo pants i wld ask ppl if they were gonna put some stuff in there and they wld always claim that sometimes they put stuff in there and it was very handy actually but they never seem to have any stuff there at the time

lag∞n, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:19 (eleven years ago)

safari pants on the other hand are sweet

surm, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:35 (eleven years ago)

I put a lot of stuff in my cargo pants in the 90s and I would put a lot of stuff in my cargo pants now. Sorry, I can't meet you out for happy hour, I'm too busy putting stuff in my cargo pockets. Sorry, I can't make that filing deadline; too much stuff to put in my cargo pockets.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:36 (eleven years ago)

is there anyone so love/hate as kevin smith?

rip van wanko, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

as a high school stoner during the peak of cargo pants in late 90s early 00s i definitely appreciated the pockets, you had to carry a lot of shit around -- lighter, glass piece, baggie, eye drops, altoids, water, the baggy look and big pockets concealed all this

marcos, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

They were really good for shoplifting, too.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:43 (eleven years ago)

i asked my grandma to put in a pocket on the bottom inside seam of my cords when i was in HS, i used it for w33d

surm, Thursday, 25 June 2015 16:44 (eleven years ago)

i smoked weed and shoplifted (<<cool guy) w/o cargo pants its time to come to grips w the fact that you were building a narrative to fit yr ridiculous pants
