i mean he's wearing an overcoat too so i guess he's cold

Who M the best? (Will M.), Tuesday, 2 June 2015 20:24 (eleven years ago)

Old timey leather gloves had buttons which usually had to be buttoned using a button hook. I don't know if you carried a button hook with you or just never removed your gloves in the course of the day. The confusing thing is that that illustration seems to be from after those times.

#fail

you should have a prime number of buttons on your underpants between may day and august bank holiday (even the rest of the year)

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 3 June 2015 12:18 (eleven years ago)

i been wearing my pants loose lately

don't hate it

surm, Thursday, 4 June 2015 15:24 (eleven years ago)

I'm sick of carrying my phone, wallet, keys, rolling baccy in my pockets all the time. Dare I say it, I need a *ugh* 'man bag'. Not sure whether to go for a full-on satchel or something more discreet. I'm curious - how do you all deal with carrying day-to-day stuff around?

hongro strulkington (dog latin), Friday, 12 June 2015 11:50 (eleven years ago)

we have entire threads for bags iirc

Upright Mammal (mh), Friday, 12 June 2015 13:54 (eleven years ago)

dont carry a bag if u can avoid it imho

lag∞n, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:09 (eleven years ago)

it's not a choice so much as a convenience in this case.

hongro strulkington (dog latin), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:10 (eleven years ago)

...doing something out of convenience is a choice?

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:11 (eleven years ago)

one of each keys and phone in front pockets, wallet in back pocket, quit smoking

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:11 (eleven years ago)

quit smoking i heard its bad anyway

haha xp

lag∞n, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:12 (eleven years ago)

as soon as you get bag youll be all oh and i need these headphones of course and this book and a sweatshirt and some snacks and youll be carrying around a bunch of worthless garbage like a damn fool its not a good path

lag∞n, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:14 (eleven years ago)

i won't carry anything in my back pocket - first way to get back ache from sitting down irregularly. My phone has an additional battery which makes it very bulky. I seem to have a lot of keys, all of which I need. Yes, I thought about quitting smoking.

hongro strulkington (dog latin), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:14 (eleven years ago)

xp ziploc bag full of almonds that's been in the bag for three months...

call all destroyer, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

i already bring a commuter backpack to work anyway. handy for storing a waterproof/umbrella/jumper and reading material but sometimes I can't be arsed.

hongro strulkington (dog latin), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

i agree that ppl who carry things in their back pockets are likely completely insane

lag∞n, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

get a cool square backpack

doug ellin (Lamp), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

or a car and just put all yr garbage in the back seat

doug ellin (Lamp), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:16 (eleven years ago)

bring back those really tech-y cargo pants and put everything in the cargo pockets. first put them in ziplock bags though

doug ellin (Lamp), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:17 (eleven years ago)

much as i don't miss combat trousers, those extra pockets were always useful.

hongro strulkington (dog latin), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:18 (eleven years ago)

get a girlfriend, commute together, put everything in her purse

doug ellin (Lamp), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:18 (eleven years ago)

wear jesus style robes that have some nice big pockets discretely sewn in there

lag∞n, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:18 (eleven years ago)

If you want a bag get a backpack because if it's not a backpack you'll have to carry it in your hands and won't be able to roll your precious cigarettes.

Just look at your clothes and buy a backpack that is basically the same as your clothes, otherwise you'll look like a dork whose parent/grandparent got them a bag.

Blandford Forum, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:19 (eleven years ago)

you live in england right just have an 'anorak' with deep pockets, put everything in there

alternately dont carry any of that stuff except yr keys - great way to save money is never having any on you to pay for things, help you with quitting smoking, create a sense of suspense with friends and colleagues and family 'where is he? why does he never answer his phone? can he really be so busy?' &c &c

Our daughter turned 20 and we purchased the small for her and had it monogrammed as well. It was a perfect gift from Dad, she has grown into quite the fly fisherman! She was thrilled.

bizarro gazzara, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:27 (eleven years ago)

you can pay for shit and control home security from your phone now you really only need that. get a holster and you are entirely free from the tyranny of pockets

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:30 (eleven years ago)

urban mountaineer look big in 2k15 superfluous pocket the new superfluous zipper. mesh the new leather

this is me. like "of course i should bring the hundred thousand songs of milarepa w/ me i might have to wait in line somewhere!"

clouds, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:32 (eleven years ago)

you really do need to carry a jacket everywhere in chicago until like mid-summer

clouds, Friday, 12 June 2015 14:32 (eleven years ago)

always need a book for my commute, might have other paper documents, therefore need a bag. the point of a bag imo is having stuff in it that you might only need from time to time - ie tissues, hayfever medicine, paracetamol, umbrella. plus bags are cool.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:33 (eleven years ago)

I embarassingly was confronted with "Iowa, isn't that the state where you can have your drivers license on your phone now?" and I had to clarify that system is not in place yet and also I had to shake my head because wtf does everything have to be on my phone

Upright Mammal (mh), Friday, 12 June 2015 14:33 (eleven years ago)

xp yeah my work laptop bag permanently houses a very unread copy of slouching towards bethlehem "just in case"
