do tell us of yr mastery of the hair gaem tho lol

lag∞n, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:41 (eleven years ago)

mh no, the woman who came over is a pretty accomplished stylist afaik, she does hair and makeup for photoshoots and does a marvelous job with my wife's hair and my son's hair (and cutting a autistic toddler's hair when he is squirming like crazy and have it come out looking fabulous is pretty serious craft) and she did a good job with mine, i'm just a nervous control freak and i wasn't used to the change so i impulsively buzzed it

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

I have no mastery, I just do the same thing all the time every day, it's my life

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 17:56 (eleven years ago)

but the thing that bothers me is that buzzing it is somehow ~not~ a huge change!

that seems bigger than having some hair you are kind of so-so on for a little bit until you need a trim

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 17:57 (eleven years ago)

I am Samson and my inner self will die if you completely remove my locks

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 17:57 (eleven years ago)

you are very wise

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:58 (eleven years ago)

I guess that you could see it as a neutral state, if you spent any time in your life w/your hair buzzed

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 18:00 (eleven years ago)

yea that was kind of my thinking, also since i've always buzzed my hair it's always just been one length all around, even if don't cut it for months it grows in at the same length, i think what weirded me out about the cut she gave me was the taper and having it longer on top, when you have puffy curly hair it made my face look super long. even though i knew intellectually that she gave me a good haircut it was just weird to have this taper, i wasn't used to it

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:08 (eleven years ago)

yeah those things that change the shape of yr face can really f w yr mind for a couples days it always freaks me out if ive had a big beard for a while and take it off, just need to give yr internal self image a min to adjust

lag∞n, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:10 (eleven years ago)

yes definitely

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:13 (eleven years ago)

when i've grown a huge beard and then shave it i think my face shrunk for a few days, like i have no chin or something

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:14 (eleven years ago)

exactly

lag∞n, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

freaked out at the first signs of my hair thinning so i grew it and i have long ass hippie hair now. it's pretty cool. need to get a lil trim cause its sprouting out in weird directions though

flopson, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

marcos, I've felt that way about glasses when I've bought some with a different shape. decided I liked them, got them and had second thoughts, but once I got past the self-reflection and friends saying "oh, new glasses" all I got was new acquaintances complimenting them so it must be a-ok

imo once you get past your own self-criticism and the questioning looks of people who are resistant to change, the real consensus opinion rolls around. it can take a while.

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 18:23 (eleven years ago)

u cant really trust ppls compliments tho they r liars

lag∞n, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

lol

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

i think too that after any cut i need to say "i am sticking with this for 2 weeks and if i still hate then i can cut it again" because pretty much after 2 weeks i am liking any haircut

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:26 (eleven years ago)

tbrr if you're married just do what your wife says

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 18:26 (eleven years ago)

lol i could do anything w/ my hair and she'd be like "i cant even tell the difference"

marcos, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

friends usually just compliment change anyway.

bureau belfast model (LocalGarda), Monday, 18 May 2015 18:37 (eleven years ago)

ppl see something and they want to comment is how i break it down

lag∞n, Monday, 18 May 2015 18:38 (eleven years ago)

I have friends who weren't into some changes, some people will voice that and then get used to it

ultimate american sock (mh), Monday, 18 May 2015 18:39 (eleven years ago)

certain yellows look atrocious on me, very unfortunate

my inner circle tend to be very honest with style takes, which i appreciate and try to reciprocate

flopson, Monday, 18 May 2015 20:00 (eleven years ago)

u think theyre being honest but really theyre just bulling u

lag∞n, Monday, 18 May 2015 20:01 (eleven years ago)

flopson, Monday, 18 May 2015 20:11 (eleven years ago)

i'm wearing purple socks with green vans today and got told by the DJ of a national breakfast radio programme that i'm "looking very joker"

Not sure if I should say this now, but short sides/big curls on top is a/g/l if you can pull it off AFAIC. Sorry, marco.

^ if I could pull it off, I'd do it. the guy who cuts my hair keeps trying to get me to go for a messier/wavier style but I get frustrated and just end up keeping it straight.

p:s nerds know (dog latin), Tuesday, 19 May 2015 10:34 (eleven years ago)

*apols for calling you marco upthread. that's my workmate's name.

p:s nerds know (dog latin), Tuesday, 19 May 2015 10:34 (eleven years ago)

great yellow striped tee.

i think the trick with hair (and scruff tbh) is different things @ different times. i like it super short and then letting it grow 4 a while.

it's weird how either look can age you though: v short or long/wavy. just depends.

yea i could've pulled it off, i just wasn't patient enough to let the cut settle in. next time!

marcos, Tuesday, 19 May 2015 17:04 (eleven years ago)

also, just curious, the stylist used thinning scissors to "reduce the bulk and bushiness" throughout my hair, seems like maybe not a good idea? i want my thicker, not thinned out

marcos, Tuesday, 19 May 2015 17:09 (eleven years ago)

could be just to accentuate the texture

do you really want it super-bushy or just textured?

ultimate american sock (mh), Tuesday, 19 May 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)

my girl Rose always uses thinning scissors, otherwise my hair grows out way too fast i think.
