i bought this covergirl gold slightly shimmery eye shadow cream -- it's actually quite nice if you use it subtly

surm, Wednesday, 13 May 2015 16:09 (eleven years ago)

i feel like crying. 2 days of wearing this jane iredale & now my face is hot and prickly and. want to claw it off

back to the drawing board fffffuuu

Boo. Jane Iredale is an asshole.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Thursday, 14 May 2015 00:13 (eleven years ago)

mineral makeup just doesnt like me :/

the worst part i had to buy it from a beauty boutique that doesnt take returns on cosmetics and this shit was $$$

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 14 May 2015 00:56 (eleven years ago)

such a scam

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 14 May 2015 00:57 (eleven years ago)

argh. You could prob sell it as "used twice, bad reaction" on eBay or whatever to someone who is a Jane Iredale makeup lover

I use some other mineral makeup (Mineral Hygienics) that I've probably talked about before and it doesn't bother my skin. I really just use their translucent powder (it has enough colour to even my skin tone out) and their super pigmented blush these days, but have tinted powder and eye makeup too. I guess I read about them on a rosacea forum years ago because otherwise I'm not sure how I would have come across them. Also their logo is awesomely 80s.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 14 May 2015 02:54 (eleven years ago)

I tried a sample of bare minerals and the escentuals (?) one once and my face itched and burned, so obv not all mineral makeup is alike... :/

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 14 May 2015 02:55 (eleven years ago)

I should be wearing more than spf 15 tinted moisturizer but what would I use? Everything seems to be a skin destroyer for me. I can only use non-chemical sunscreens, yet even so their formulations are usually full of crap. Summer face veil it is...

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 14 May 2015 02:58 (eleven years ago)

bare mineraks made me itch too, like really tiny little allergic bumps

bizmuth i think can cause some reactions, or so i hear

the ebay idea is good, i might try that

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 14 May 2015 02:59 (eleven years ago)

xpost - the peter thomas roth line has good non chemical sunscreen spf 25, and hasnt given me a reaction yet

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 14 May 2015 03:01 (eleven years ago)

I was out walking in a sunny day the other day with a friend and she was like Oh I should put sunblock on, and proceeded to pull out a small tube of that la Roche posay Helios sunblock from her bag and rub it on to her face. I thought she'd been wearing makeup but no. People with amazing skin, my god, so lucky.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 14 May 2015 03:02 (eleven years ago)

Yeah I got those little tiny bumps too and redness bleah

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 14 May 2015 03:03 (eleven years ago)

I will go to sephora and check out the Peter Thomas Roth sunblock!

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 14 May 2015 03:04 (eleven years ago)

that mineral hygenics looks intrresting! no bizmuth, no micah, 4 ingredients?

maybe i'll give that a shot next time i get some spare face cash :)

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 14 May 2015 03:26 (eleven years ago)

sometimes i look at my skin when i wake up and i think, do i really need makeup? and then i look at a photo of myself with flash and i realize that yes, i do.

surm, Thursday, 14 May 2015 12:49 (eleven years ago)

two weeks pass...

Speaking of BALM STAIN, Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Color is pretty good stuff. IIRC the last BALM STAIN I tried failed as both BALM and STAIN but this one manages to do a good job at both. Also: cheap. The lid will come off if you look at it funny, though, so watch your purse if you carry it around.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Friday, 29 May 2015 15:28 (eleven years ago)

i just love brushes can i be honest

surm, Friday, 29 May 2015 16:22 (eleven years ago)

i haven't tried ww balm stains, but i got one for makeup stash i'm giving my mum.

surm have you tried real techniques brushes? they're my FAV - cheap, excellent quality.

just1n3, Friday, 29 May 2015 16:28 (eleven years ago)

cosign real techniques...new fave

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 29 May 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)

i already have both core collections (eyes and face) + the powder brush + the expert face brush and i still want more!

OT but i recently got a sample of the new laneige cushion bb cream - it's pretty nice! very sheer, and i like the cushion/puff application.

just1n3, Friday, 29 May 2015 17:41 (eleven years ago)

i have been using clinique redness solutions foundation for the past 2 weeks & I am pretty happy with the results! coverage with dermalogica green primer is A+

starts to look a bit ragged at the end of an 8 hr day but rice powder keeps the shine to a minmum

no breakouts, and I barely notice it's on which is like yaaaay

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 29 May 2015 17:47 (eleven years ago)

i don't know if i'm just noticing it more or if has actually gotten worse, but the redness on my cheeks has become quite a bit of eyesore to me. combined with sunspots/freckles/whatever the f they are, it just makes my cheeks look darker than the rest of skin and really drags my face down.

just1n3, Friday, 29 May 2015 17:49 (eleven years ago)

real techniques! mental note made

Even sunscreens that use zinc and titanium make my skin peel and break out. :(

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Saturday, 30 May 2015 01:42 (eleven years ago)

i've been going full force at it with the benzoyl peroxide this summer, i just can't help it, i'm middle eastern

surm, Saturday, 30 May 2015 01:49 (eleven years ago)

that shit is like streganona's miracle cream

surm, Saturday, 30 May 2015 01:50 (eleven years ago)

I'll try the Peter Thomas Roth--maybe cutting out zinc will help? Please god because I'm biking to work a few days a week and I have to use SOMEthing.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Saturday, 30 May 2015 01:55 (eleven years ago)

i got one of those rimmel apocalips liquid lip things - the lasting power is really good but all the colors are really old-ladyish. i got the one that looked most like a nude pink but it's just nana-pink. it looks shit at full coverage but if i use it like a stain it comes out a nicer color.

just1n3, Saturday, 30 May 2015 04:36 (eleven years ago)

io, these are about as dorky as it gets but they DO keep the sun off

The shaving thing we talked about - holy shit make up looks SO much better now!

just1n3, Sunday, 31 May 2015 00:23 (eleven years ago)

i always think because i am middle eastern i won't burn in the sun - i am wrong.

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 01:25 (eleven years ago)

omg da brim hat thing, putting two extremely dorky yet very useful things together to create dork levels not see before, and yet, the functionality!

It reminds me that i do need to get a new brimmed hat/cap - also on the dork metre for me because most hats don't suit me well. Better that then a burnt nose though.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 31 May 2015 13:39 (eleven years ago)

No. No hats. And definitely not that hat.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Sunday, 31 May 2015 15:02 (eleven years ago)

I shaved off my mustache. My lip feels so cool! Haven't put on makeup yet, but I'm optimistic. It made a huge difference visually!

i am listening to pretty hurts by Beyonce. she's right.

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 15:23 (eleven years ago)

How are you all shaving? Dry shaving? Shaving cream? What kind of razor?

I'm in the same blond but bountiful camp as FFM, and I've been noticing my upper lip and chin hairs more and more recently (I'm 100% sure nobody else notices and I keep telling myself this but it's not working). I've been thinking about getting it waxed or threaded but now I'm intrigued by the idea of shaving it.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Sunday, 31 May 2015 16:07 (eleven years ago)

Plus although once when I was getting my brows waxed, the aesthetician made an unsolicited offer to wax the mustache that I don't think anybody else can see, I'm pretty sure if I ask the woman who does threading to thread my upper lip she will LOL at my fine blonde hair and tell me to GTFO.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Sunday, 31 May 2015 16:18 (eleven years ago)

Dry shave with a dollar store razor because I am basically the worst! If you look around online you will get suggestions that you should buy yourself a proper $100 barber's blade but.. fuck that! I was impressed with how easily it came off tbh.. so much better than working up the courage to pluck them all, which hurt so much!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 31 May 2015 16:47 (eleven years ago)

I read that shaving is a great exfoliator & is sometimes attributed to men's skin aging better? So I shaved my entire beard area, cheeks, under chin and all. Heh. But the upper lip was the real kicker.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Sunday, 31 May 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

i shaved yesterday (as a man) and can testify that shaving is the most rejuvenating thing a man can do for his face every once in a while.

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 16:57 (eleven years ago)

Carl, it depends how sensitive your skin is. You might need to use a new razor every time, do it wet/with a cream. I'd say patch test first.

I just do it in the shower on wet skin, using whatever razor is in there, and I haven't had any problems.

Like I said, my fuzz is not at all visible when my face is bare, it's just makeup that makes it look weird.

just1n3, Sunday, 31 May 2015 17:26 (eleven years ago)

lol xp

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 19:08 (eleven years ago)

I've got too many dark more whiskery hairs now to be satisfied with the results of shaving (though it is great for peach fuzz!) so I've been trying different waxing approaches. The Veet cold wax strips broke me out like crazy. The microwave hard wax is good, but sometimes a pain to get a grip on. Also tough to keep at exactly the right temperature to do my whole lower face and under chin. So I got a wax warmer and non-woven cloth strips and a can of honey wax with espresso in it that smells SO GOOD. It did a fine job, but made me crave Nutella all day.

Jaq, Sunday, 31 May 2015 19:14 (eleven years ago)

did i tell u guys about that one time i used an epillator (spl) to remove all of my chest hair?

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 19:15 (eleven years ago)

i wanted to go "twink"

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 19:15 (eleven years ago)

surm, Sunday, 31 May 2015 19:17 (eleven years ago)

OMG ow! I got one of those things back in the 80s, hurt so bad!

Jaq, Sunday, 31 May 2015 19:29 (eleven years ago)

let me tell you something. i have never hurt so bad in a bathroom. ever. i think the people across the street heard me screaming. on the plus side, i looked like an extra from Baywatch for about fifteen minutes.
