Real McCoys make the best sweatshirts I've ever owned. Really expensive but last for ages. Sunspel make good ones and you can pick them up in their sales quite cheap. Champion are good for cheap plain sweatshirts and t shirts that fit nicely.

personally despise those items but i guess someone who isnt me could make them work

the bureau's styling is always good for a lol, like they get all this mindnumbingly pricey #menswear in just to make it look like 'former madchester impresario turned hairdresser is off to the pub'

haha - i've always thought this - it's insane - that fat bloke dressed in ten statement pieces all at once and linen hanging off his beer gut. does nobody there realise it's bad for business? engineered garments does exclusive stuff for them - they probably have more eg stuff than most other shops - it's like a monkey who's found a piece of glass.

vaguely reminded of this convo i saw on tumblr last week (between humanalien and love-less) (look idk i follow mindlessly) about atelier ny website. been deleted since for some reason but i pulled it from rss

"It’s really wild just how poorly-made this is. I’m wondering what happened to the firm they were paying $16,000 for social media/web presence. They literally could not be in a better position and they’re doing everything they can to run the franchise and its legacy straight into the ground. I don’t know what’s worse - this or the blogspot they considered to be an actual web presence."

"I completely disagree. Karlo-era Atelier blogspot was the absolute pinnacle of the NY luxury retail scene. I actually have brought it up in 3 - 4 interviews, and talked about it for probably 25 min. in the interview that got me my current position. Gratuitous, indulgent, so tasteless, occasionally genuinely upsetting, mostly superfluous to moving any actual product online or in-store. I actually had at one point saved all the “Client Style” images because I was so concerned some hotshot new hire was going to try to scrub the internet of any traces of it:

This is the real shit. It got worse after they gave it to James Baik to run. I’d still take this any day over, say, Opening Ceremony’s “Look at all the unpaid labor we conned out of New School kids from Alabama” blog."

i mean i get that engineered garments is p difficult to style, and sometimes just like second hand clothes someone's dad wore in goa - but the pics and the model are just so clueless.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 19 April 2015 13:09 (eleven years ago)

the flowery shirt looks like norse projects X paul smith ca. 2002

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 19 April 2015 13:10 (eleven years ago)

heh, is that a criticism or just a general comparison?

the swagger of oasis (LocalGarda), Sunday, 19 April 2015 13:19 (eleven years ago)

i think it's a criticism but i don't know any more

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 19 April 2015 14:47 (eleven years ago)

it's considerably more restrained than paul smith imo, and less restrained than norse - but to each his own

the swagger of oasis (LocalGarda), Sunday, 19 April 2015 20:48 (eleven years ago)

that just looks terrible. no two ways about it.

but then again, who really cares? I don’t. (dog latin), Monday, 20 April 2015 10:00 (eleven years ago)

that's p much exactly how i dress when i walk go to buy eggs and bread from the shop next door on a sunday morning.

but then again, who really cares? I don’t. (dog latin), Monday, 20 April 2015 10:01 (eleven years ago)

right, i want some black jeans now. lots of talk of raw denim and selvedge upthread which is a bit confusing. kind of like the idea of slim, if not skinny (i've never taken the skinny plunge, but maybe something close to that?) and possibly a slightly cropped leg for the summer. Any nice retailers out there in the UK that won't charge me a small forch?

but then again, who really cares? I don’t. (dog latin), Wednesday, 22 April 2015 15:15 (eleven years ago)
