I think caek is comparing the euro licensed brand to the U.S. workwear brand, not euro carhartt then vs now

mh, Saturday, 11 April 2015 03:05 (eleven years ago)

Carhartt was always a skate brand to me. very popular in the late 90s. what is it in the us?

but then again, who really cares? I don’t. (dog latin), Saturday, 11 April 2015 08:48 (eleven years ago)

workwear. for builders. like Dickies:

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 11 April 2015 10:04 (eleven years ago)

Carhartt as skateboard wear is mind boggling to me as it is very much a blue collar / cold weather work wear thing in the U.S. and the style of dress I would associate with the people most likely to pick on skaters when I was in high school.

so now it's sunny again i need to decide what hat i hate the least to prevent head burning.

anyone taken the bucket hat plunge? i just think they represent dickheads at music festivals in my youth - not sure i can go there. then if you go the other way into formal hats you're basically fedora guy.

last year i wore a baseball cap when travelling a bit - first photo and my friend said "didn't know you were into odd future" : /

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 11 April 2015 11:42 (eleven years ago)

to be fair, hardcore kids and skater kids were wearing Carhartt as a fashion thing at least as early as 1992.

xpost Ronan you can borrow my Clinton-Gore '92 nylon mesh adjustable baseball cap.

Dickies is p much considered a streetwear brand in the UK too.

but then again, who really cares? I don’t. (dog latin), Saturday, 11 April 2015 14:15 (eleven years ago)

these are probably carhartt's most-sold items as far as US workwear goes
http://www.carhartt.com/category/carhartt-men-bibs-coveralls-overalls
http://www.carhartt.com/products/carhartt-men-outerwear/Duck-Traditional-Coat-Arctic-Quilt-Lined-C003

the brown color was all they used to have. looks like they really diversified lately

mh, Saturday, 11 April 2015 15:35 (eleven years ago)

wtf UK

Dickies def. has been a staple of punk/skate culture forever in the U.S., Carhartt less so. Always been farmer and construction wear to me. Occasionally see, like, crust punk kids wearing it tho.

circa1916, Saturday, 11 April 2015 15:49 (eleven years ago)

basically everybody in Vermont probably has at least one thing made by carhartt

Real McCoys make the best sweatshirts I've ever owned. Really expensive but last for ages. Sunspel make good ones and you can pick them up in their sales quite cheap. Champion are good for cheap plain sweatshirts and t shirts that fit nicely.

the bureau's styling is always good for a lol, like they get all this mindnumbingly pricey #menswear in just to make it look like 'former madchester impresario turned hairdresser is off to the pub'

the late great, Saturday, 18 April 2015 23:52 (eleven years ago)

haha - i've always thought this - it's insane - that fat bloke dressed in ten statement pieces all at once and linen hanging off his beer gut. does nobody there realise it's bad for business? engineered garments does exclusive stuff for them - they probably have more eg stuff than most other shops - it's like a monkey who's found a piece of glass.
