Carabiners feel Portland, chain wallets feel more like Spokane dudes who always smell like cigarettes

joygoat, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 22:41 (eleven years ago)

I just got a Crabby wallet, I really like it

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 March 2015 01:24 (eleven years ago)

Hey I saw a dude with a wallet chain on the bus today! He was wearing black jeans, carrying a brown leather briefcase, and wearing black vans. #nofear

y'all are quite anti a black suit i seem to recall?

got a couple of weddings this year and am considering getting a black blazer cos i wear a lot of black and would prob wear it separately afterwards, therefore justifying the purchase. i feel like it can be quite a good look but is it too formal or something?

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)

The traditional gripe is that black is for funerals and tuxes idk

, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

Also caek might ask u to refill his glass

, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

I wld probably wear just a black jacket tho. I don't care

, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:43 (eleven years ago)

theres something culturally abt the black suit thats pretty douche and "gq list of 10 menswear must haves" but i dont think it necessarily looks bad and prob no ones going to judge u for it, if u like it and feel comfortable in it then imo do you, cld also go for a darker near black navy tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:44 (eleven years ago)

yeah maybe the weird thing about it is it does look pretty formal but ppl dont wear it that way like they often wear them casually like w/o a tie like its just a suit m8, which i mean fair enough

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:45 (eleven years ago)

i bought a very dark charcoal suit that might as well have been black but i returned it, not cause of the color cause it didnt fit

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:46 (eleven years ago)

will take a stand on this message board against the black suit/white shirt/black tie worn as just a normal suit nbd, youve gone too far this time

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:49 (eleven years ago)

feel like that was a huge look w celebrities for a while? like it was a conspiracy of the stylists cabal

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:50 (eleven years ago)

black suits got pretty popular fast and therefor are maybe going out of style fast too? worth considering

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:50 (eleven years ago)

i wld get a nice charcoal suit personally instead

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:51 (eleven years ago)

a dark one but not like too dark

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)

bit bored of navy or blue suits and i already have a grey blazer, but it's very heavy. prob will just go for it

lol at gq list of 10 must haves - the denim jacket, classic and timeless

xpost was thinking black suit, white or blue shirt, red or burgundy tie for the full funeral director chic

i really don't like the idea of a black tie.

xxxpost thanks for this specific advice

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)

shit i just bought one that's too dark before seeing that last post

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:53 (eleven years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:53 (eleven years ago)

btw i just got invited to a wedding and i was just thinking abt getting a new suit so i was primed

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:54 (eleven years ago)

really like dont need one was thinking tho maybe just a cheap light nice cotton one, i have a cotton summer suit already but its higher qual/looks just like a regular suit but its weather appropriate for summer, but i like a nice unstructured super casual summer cotton suit i like those, had one once and it was good

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:56 (eleven years ago)

would you ever go for a more bold colour? i saw a nice red/burgundy suit but it's prob a bit try hard.

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 16:59 (eleven years ago)

imo better to go conservative, then u can have fun w the accessories if u want

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:01 (eleven years ago)

yeah i agree - it's quite fun going a bit bold with the tie or whatever

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:06 (eleven years ago)

especially a wedding being a festive event and all

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:07 (eleven years ago)

I've gotten out of the habit of wearing suits to weddings unless I know it's going to be a formal/conservative affair. Bright-coloured chinos + fun shirt + sensible jacket is m/l my festive uniform.

kriss akabusi cleaner (seandalai), Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:36 (eleven years ago)

+ tie and/or pocket square

kriss akabusi cleaner (seandalai), Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:36 (eleven years ago)

thats cool personally i love to wear a suit tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:42 (eleven years ago)

frankly i feel like u r attacking me and suit wearers everywhere MODS

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:43 (eleven years ago)

Not attacking - ppl in suits make me look cool.

kriss akabusi cleaner (seandalai), Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:46 (eleven years ago)

ha no was jk re my initial passive agressive "seeming" reply

lag∞n, Saturday, 7 March 2015 17:49 (eleven years ago)

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 22:07 (eleven years ago)

Junior Dictionary (LocalGarda), Saturday, 7 March 2015 23:31 (eleven years ago)

black suits are awful

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Saturday, 7 March 2015 23:52 (eleven years ago)

buy a charcoal suit, it will go with your black stuff

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Saturday, 7 March 2015 23:52 (eleven years ago)

what do h8 abt the black suit so much plz expound

rational_skull_collector_69 (lag∞n), Saturday, 7 March 2015 23:55 (eleven years ago)

going back here but my theory is someone decided black suit/white shirt/black tie was a way to look casual/dressed down at formal events. it's so bad tho.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 7 March 2015 23:55 (eleven years ago)

i just checked and i own literally no black clothing fwiw, so i am clearly an extremist but...

1) black fabric looks cheap unless it's really really not, whereas, e.g. charcoal does not

2) black doesn't really go with anything except white or more black

3) black suits had a moment and look v dated rn

4) historically black suits are for waiters, doormen, etc. or to be worn at funerals. the rule is bs of course, but it is a real thing, and so 99% of the time a black suit signals "i don't know what i'm doing, this is my first suit, i thought black was the default colour", not "i am an iconoclast"
