lol "DISRUPTING MONOGAMY" of course it has to be disrupted that is what silicon valley does is disrupt

marcos, Thursday, 26 February 2015 17:33 (eleven years ago)

it was seriously one of the worst things i've read in months, the condescending tone, complete lack of substance, the tech-will-solve-everything utopian vision, the venn diagrams, it was very bad. (btw i very much support anyone who wants to live in any kind of romantic arrangement that suits them, it was just a very bad article)

marcos, Thursday, 26 February 2015 17:35 (eleven years ago)

any way i don't mean to clog up this thread with that, back to style and clothes

marcos, Thursday, 26 February 2015 17:35 (eleven years ago)

It's amazing how so much that comes out of silicon valley bears the clear mark of The World As Conceived By Self-Important Twenty-Somethings

Like as though the world of immediate post-college relationships of the affluent is a blueprint for how relationships in general could/should work.

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:25 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:31 (eleven years ago)

Would like to see the reaction if I showed up at the office with one

five six and (man alive), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:32 (eleven years ago)

I mean though are they fedora/e-cig level? or are there certain contexts in which they can be stylishly worn by certain kinds of ppl? I mean Nick Wooster, for one, he would look p fly w/ one right?

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:34 (eleven years ago)

ultimately thats true of anything?

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:40 (eleven years ago)

what abt jncos

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

basically i need a new wallet and sometimes i think chain wallets look p cool and maybe they'd ~resonate~ with my ~personal aesthetic~ but idk would i just look like a total wiener?

gybe horses (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:41 (eleven years ago)

i wear jncos as a jumper m8

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:44 (eleven years ago)

xp what's your personal aesthetic?

i dunno, i don't think anyone's really worn a chain wallet since '98 but maybe it's time for a revival?

Unheimlich Manouevre (dog latin), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:44 (eleven years ago)

feel like artisanal mixologists have revived chain wallets at some point

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:45 (eleven years ago)

I had one in high school.

Jeff, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

i have seen some chain wallets except with a leather strap of late

adam, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:49 (eleven years ago)

hand-twisted artisinal leather strap wallet

five six and (man alive), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:49 (eleven years ago)

I had a chain wallet as a teenager =D

, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:49 (eleven years ago)

Nah they weren't really a fashion statement bro, it was about making sure no one ganked your shit when you went into the pit.

five six and (man alive), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:50 (eleven years ago)

smdh at these fuckin posers

five six and (man alive), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:50 (eleven years ago)

i think chain wallets can totally work if you have kind of a punk aesthetic going on. but if you have sideburns that go down to your jawline and you wear a fedora then no they are nagl imo

marcos, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:51 (eleven years ago)

but what is, really

five six and (man alive), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:51 (eleven years ago)

(btw i had one as a young teenage and i wore them with jncos, talking like age 13-14 here)

marcos, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:51 (eleven years ago)

I took the chain off Jeff's high school chain wallet and used it as a wallet for like five years.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:52 (eleven years ago)

you used the chain as a wallet?

five six and (man alive), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:53 (eleven years ago)

I used the wallet as a wallet. I don't think I used the chain for anything.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 16:56 (eleven years ago)

stevie i think you should hop on the jnco revival and get those like plastic raver wallet chains

no (Lamp), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 17:13 (eleven years ago)

just anything thats raver is the new look... bucket hats... w/e seth green was wearing... drugs

no (Lamp), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 17:14 (eleven years ago)

most of my understanding of raves comes from tv shows in the early 2000s i think. p sure they went to a rave on dawsons creek once but dawson was wearing mom jeans and an ill-fitting sweater with a horizontal stripe

no (Lamp), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)

'whats my age again?'core

can can cancan? can can cancan (Will M.), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 17:22 (eleven years ago)

the chain wallet works best in conjunction with chain sleeves and socks that chain to your shoes

future glown (crüt), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 17:57 (eleven years ago)

I've had a wallet chain for like twenty years now (it's totally visible in a pic from 1994 I posted in the old photos thread the other day). I don't hang it out (anymore at least) but I clip my keys to the chain and keep them in my front pocket, so there's just a small piece of thin chain that runs from my right hip pocket to the front one.

It lets me always keep my keys and wallet tied together and attached to me and I can easily fish my keys out of my pocket with it.

joygoat, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

has the carabiner w/ keys replaced the wallet chain?

marcos, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

That's exclusively like college kids

, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 18:42 (eleven years ago)

no i was thinking the chunky carabiner with a million keys that you see on bike messengers

marcos, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 18:44 (eleven years ago)

lol I have a chunky carabiner w/ a million keys and commute on a single-speed
