i've been just walking in and going with whoever is available but they started offering appointments and that seems to be the way to go now

even bald though you still have to make some decisions, e.g. grow the sides long, short buzz cut on the sides, totally shaved, beard or no beard, etc. there is a big variety of bald hairstyles out there, it's only the top that's bald after all

yea davis is a little far. there is a cloth diaper shop in davis that i go to every couple of months, which i could time together with hair cuts!

i got my hair restyled into a kind of undercut-pompadour and i love it... but... it's so different from my last cut and the stylist kept a lot of length (like 4-5inches) at the front which feels too long and difficult to maintain. Plus my hair gets wavy at a certain length so I end up with two big loose curls at the front that look like a cross between a flower and a ducks arse, so I've decided to go back in and get it calmed down a bit. shame really because i like the idea of having an idiosyncratic hairstyle, but my job is just a little corporate for me to pull it off.

I'm sporting an undercut-pompadour-New Republic Real Face of Rap style these days, too, and am having similar problems. I'm not good at styling my hair every day and the top is very full and the wig hair is going to be unstoppable once summer gets here if that ever actually happens.

I hit a new low today and put some goop in wet hair, pinned it in place with bobby pins, and stuck a hat on while I commuted to work. It looks... well, like I bobby pinned wet goopy hair under a hat and rode the train to work.

Sometimes I call that second look The Craig Kilborn.

I found some p good barbers but the past 6 months I have just been buzzing my head with a #2 every other week or so, so I have few good advices to give

yeah the guy who cuts my hair (feel funny calling him a stylist or a hairdresser as that's what he does, but he's a mate so...) said to try mousse and not hair drying it but I don't think he knows that my hair when left to dry NEVER looks good. struggled with it for years and years until I finally caved and bought a hairdryer. never looked back. I found that a bit of wax worked almost better than mousse too.

yea the efficiency and savings of this can be hard to pass up. i've done everything from a #2 to a #8, i dig the longer buzz cuts more for my head but i love #2 on other people.

I've had the same barber for almost 10 years and around 2011 we started using 3 formulas (guard #s and hair lengths) that I keep in my notes app. I now have over 3 years of haircut data saved on my phone. It's awesome to have these cuts as pre-sets that I can order up.

someone tell me where to get my head shaved for like $5 near flatiron or fort greene. i don't want to do it myself, the cleanup is a drag. everywhere i see is like $20 it's madness. also what is the deal with tipping?

can you not just stand on a towel, say the towel you showered in that morning, and empty it - then shake and wash the towel

Shave it on the subway platform. Or over the bathtub before showering which works for me.

the thing about shaving yr own head too is u are not gonna be able to get the edges nice

i often go to rando barbers and it usually turn out good, i mean if im somewhere where i have a guy i like then fine, my hair is maybe easy to cut and i get an easy haircut idk

i just try to read the vibes of the barber shop mostly

there was a guy i liked in new hampshire who open carried and had three beautiful husky dogs

yeah my current shop is v. unpretentious, no bs, diverse clientele. feel like i see more and more attempts to do upscale barber shops, it's gross.

i go to a gross hipster barber shop but my guy is just good, he can cut a freakin head of hair

he and my gf used to work at cb2 and ppl used to come up to him in the store when he was selling furniture like "miles man you gotta go back to cutting hair... not the same without you"

The thing is the idea of going to an unhip old mannish barber is nice and everything but sometimes you get an old man haircut. And I don't mean "stylishly reminiscent of an old man when he was young therefore extra authentic."

I have an old lady at a great clips

Tho she's getting old, she keeps breaking her shoulder and last time she wasn't paying attention and gave me a soccer mom haircut

I have almost never found someone who consistently cut my hair well. I usually just go to the russian barbers near work -- it's hit-or-miss but it never looks too bad after a week. I have odd consistency thinning jewfro hair that not many people cut well.
