The Steven Alan brand stuff are the deals in that sale anyway

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 17:36 (eleven years ago)

what weekend bags do you all use - been looking for a while for a duffle with no real details to it - i had one from topman which lasted a surprisingly long time. it's always so hard to find this kind of thing.

Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Friday, 23 January 2015 17:37 (eleven years ago)

btw i have vowed many times to stop online buying things on final sale but i cant help myself, totally whiffed on my last steven alan order but managed to guilt trip them into taking the whole order back cause they neglected to remove a security tag from one of the items

i use ll bean tote w zipper and long handles 4 weekend bag, i have the xl but large is a fine size for weekend, u can custom make any colors too which is cool if ur not into the standard two tone, not sure if thats ur type of thing tho

lag∞n, Friday, 23 January 2015 17:39 (eleven years ago)

I'm the opposite, I've stopped myself so many times buying the final sale stuff from SA that I went a little overboard this time from "pent up demand" -- wound up adding two more things, some shorts and another shirt.

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 17:42 (eleven years ago)

got a pic?

i don't mind colours but figure for a big i just want grey or black or navy so it can age more gracefully. i don't intend to buy one again for as long as possible.

*for a bag

Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Friday, 23 January 2015 17:42 (eleven years ago)

FWIW I rocked one of the new Peter Millar "classic fit" suits yesterday and got a lot of complements. A classic fit a size down seems to fit me better than the trim fit suit I bought last year. I'm probably just not a trim enough dude to look good in a trim suit, and I had bought a jacket with shoulders a little too big to compensate. This one fits exactly the way I want a suit to fit. Color is great too, blue like a shade or two lighter than navy with a very faint plaid on it.

Kind of similar to this suit except the plaid is different:

this one doesnt have the zip top but u get the idea, mine is old and formless at this point which is nice, at first the canvas is pretty stiff tho as depicted

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 18:01 (eleven years ago)

also i use a small one for my computer bag, tho i dont carry all day, just like when im moving

lag∞n, Friday, 23 January 2015 18:02 (eleven years ago)

weekend bag do you mean like "taking a trip for the weekend" or "casual non-work bag that you carry around town"

marcos, Friday, 23 January 2015 18:07 (eleven years ago)

was assuming weekend trip fwiw

lag∞n, Friday, 23 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

that's my working definition of weekend bag. i have a herschel duffel bag which has an extremely useful shoe compartment so you can pack a second pair of shoes without worrying about them fucking up your clothes.

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 January 2015 19:15 (eleven years ago)

That is surely a step up from my throw the shoes into a plastic bag approach

, Friday, 23 January 2015 19:17 (eleven years ago)

thats what i do

yup

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 19:35 (eleven years ago)

the notion of having a stylish little bag that you casually toss a few things into for an impromptu weekend jaunt w/ some friends seems pretty foreign right now tbh. sounds amazing though!

marcos, Friday, 23 January 2015 19:42 (eleven years ago)

yeah I was actually scratching my head at the whole concept of a "weekend bag" tote, but I couldn't put my finger on why until you hit it

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 19:44 (eleven years ago)

i am all of a sudden noticing those canada goose jackets everywhere

marcos, Friday, 23 January 2015 21:58 (eleven years ago)

tbqf they are pretty ugly

marcos, Friday, 23 January 2015 21:58 (eleven years ago)

Me, too! Although I think they look pretty warm and great, but I'm intentionally trying to look past the "Canada Douche" stereotype for whatever reason.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Friday, 23 January 2015 21:59 (eleven years ago)

I really do not like them. They're like astronaut casualwear.

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 21:59 (eleven years ago)

the giant logo patch makes you look like you are in the coast guard or something

especially the red parkas

marcos, Friday, 23 January 2015 22:00 (eleven years ago)

haha yes or astronauts

marcos, Friday, 23 January 2015 22:00 (eleven years ago)

I think also it's the combination of conspicuous expensiveness and complete lack of imagination that bothers me. Like the douche I complained about in the other thread who wore prada sneakers with some bad fitting jeans and an drab zipper pullover to thanksgiving, trendiness without style

walid foster dulles (man alive), Friday, 23 January 2015 22:02 (eleven years ago)

appearance-wise it's just a parka with a big patch, idk.

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 January 2015 23:05 (eleven years ago)

trying to figure out if i can make "looking like you're in the coast guard" defensible somehow

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 January 2015 23:05 (eleven years ago)

i don't really like parkas generally. i kinda just got okay again with occasional hoods recently.

i did mean bags for weekend trips but prob would want a sealable bag - just for flying etc.

i've seen some i like -apc and norse projects and filson- but spending on a thing that sits unused for 80 per cent of the year is hard.

how bad an idea would this be. fully reversible but probably would want to wear that ludicrous wizard print at least once.

looks awes

seandalai, Saturday, 24 January 2015 12:29 (eleven years ago)

generally think that patterned linings are fun so long as you stay away from shiny Ted Baker paisleys and the like

seandalai, Saturday, 24 January 2015 12:33 (eleven years ago)

yeah i agree - that's true of floral generally really. it's a p good price for a dries van note coat - not sure i actually need a black mac tho.
