When I was in Korea earlier this year square/structured ones like that first one were very popular, you couldn't find anything else in the store

xp seems a propos on this thread to mention that that little twist of Hitchcock's right shirt collar point was an intentional part of his look ... there's a story about him hating an oil portrait in which the artist straightened it out

thank you! i was looking for an article that explained the cg thing the other day. i still think it's just a fucking parka but good for them.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 11 January 2015 02:14 (eleven years ago)

I don't mind cg, and think they look nice and warm. But pretty sure I'd never pay that much. Unless I had a lot more money, then sure.

need the duck boot tho, those wont fight snow

lag∞n, Sunday, 11 January 2015 02:37 (eleven years ago)

i remember i had a canada goose jacket growing up. didn't realize they were a thing, always made me think of dorky 90s ware. speaking of which, it seems like the whole normcore thing has saturated the NYC suburbs pretty thoroughly, quickest i've ever seen a trend get picked up. everyone in my office is rockin' it right now, even the VP of my department.

Wound up with two full cut Peter Millar suits from Nordstrom today for about 750 total - realized the 38 in the full looked much better than the 40 in the trim cuts. Style forum dudes seem to think millar is a good value, non trendy but quality.

lag∞n, Sunday, 11 January 2015 15:52 (eleven years ago)

the maine hunting shoe is perhaps a little too old-timey like costume clothing almost. for my taste anyway.

The difference is in the type of rubber they use.
When they changed the name from "Maine Hunting Shoe" to "Bean Boot", they were catering to non-hunters who back during the eighties, found these boots fashionable for urban wear.
Trouble was, the soles wore out too quickly on asphalt pavement
so they needed to use a tougher rubber. Many outdoorsmen (myself included) didn't like the new version as they made it more difficult to feel what you were walking on and it was harder to walk quietly in the woods with them.
So they returned to the old style Maine Hunting Shoe for hunters
but still make the Bean Boot for scuffing around on concrete and asphalt.
