hey what are everyone's thoughts on cuffing jeans in general? i have never cuffed my pants but sometimes i admire cuffs on others.

marcos, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:41 (eleven years ago)

also i had no luck finding jeans at uniqlo. EVERYTHING except one style (which i didn't like) were skinny fit or slim fit. i didn't like the stretchy kind either, they felt super weird.

i think i am going to just try to find a pair of levi's, though all the numbers are a little overwhelming.

marcos, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:43 (eleven years ago)

also if you cuff your jeans do you buy them slightly longer to accommodate the cuffing?

marcos, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:43 (eleven years ago)

i dont cuff but that is my understanding yes

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:52 (eleven years ago)

maybe has something to do with that a lot of fancy jeans only come in one length

lag∞n, Saturday, 3 January 2015 18:01 (eleven years ago)

my one pair of raw denim jeans is cuffed b/c i had them hemmed long in anticipation of shrinkage. i do really like the way a cuff holds up w/raw denim, and you can tweak the cuff depending on shoes which is nice.

too much cuff, like totally unhemmed jeans that have like a 36 or 38-inch inseam, looks ridiculous.

cuffing non-raw jeans just makes you look like you didn't know what inseam to buy imo.

feel it's plausible i may never have worn jeans uncuffed tbh

^^^ sweet parka

I wore a pair of (yes, raw denim) jeans yesterday and mostly I felt like it made me look short, I don't really know what I'm doing with jeans though.

eh I wore the jeans *cuffed*

ticket to rmde (seandalai), Saturday, 3 January 2015 22:50 (eleven years ago)

that's a great looking parka. what's the hood made of?

Sounds like you just need a pair of 501s

, Saturday, 3 January 2015 23:06 (eleven years ago)

Most uniqlos I been to have 'straight' and 'relaxed' cuts idk

, Saturday, 3 January 2015 23:10 (eleven years ago)

Buy one of these bad boys what have you got to lose

, Saturday, 3 January 2015 23:41 (eleven years ago)

they are out of stock dude.

but yea I think levis it is. Maybe the raw denim 501s? A little freaked out about figuring out sizing and maintenance

marcos, Sunday, 4 January 2015 01:43 (eleven years ago)

black 501s are a staple for me im wearing a worn out pair right now have new ones ready to go

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 01:46 (eleven years ago)

hood on parka is either fake wool or really stiff real wool. I don't know what kind of fur tech they had back then. another cool but somewhat useless detail is that it has a chinstrap that buttons under the hood.

breakfast josiah (los blue jeans), Sunday, 4 January 2015 02:31 (eleven years ago)

they are out of stock dude.

That's just what they want you to think

, Sunday, 4 January 2015 02:51 (eleven years ago)

rip van wanko, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:00 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:19 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:19 (eleven years ago)

i'm projecting my own failure. i guess they only ever look good to me worn super skinny by crustpunks.

rip van wanko, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:21 (eleven years ago)

u can do it man!

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:23 (eleven years ago)

Clay, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:35 (eleven years ago)

how i break it down to an extent

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:36 (eleven years ago)

i stand in awe

rip van wanko, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:36 (eleven years ago)

No you're supposed to walk in them

, Sunday, 4 January 2015 03:38 (eleven years ago)

I have a dark blue "raw" pair of uniqlo jeans and a light grey pair, they're alright for everyday use but they're slightly too soft and floppy for my preferences. I still haven't invested in a high-end pair of jeans. Almost ordered some APC new standards when they were on sale for $130 at Steven Alan, kind of regret not doing it.

man alive, Sunday, 4 January 2015 04:48 (eleven years ago)

There's definitely something weirdly soft about uniqlo denim, they make it a selling point but I don't love it.

man alive, Sunday, 4 January 2015 04:48 (eleven years ago)

but yea I think levis it is. Maybe the raw denim 501s? A little freaked out about figuring out sizing and maintenance

Ignore Levi's suggestions on sizing up on the waist unless you want retro farmer look.

one solution - two waist sizes down from normal vanity sizing, inseam 2-4 inches longer. Quick tub soak, hang dry. Wear cuffed or not until too nasty and then tub soak again with woolite dark, or replace.

another solution - normal waist size, longer inseam. Machine wash and dry as normal but avoid spin cycle if you can.

Zachary Taylor, Sunday, 4 January 2015 07:49 (eleven years ago)

tell me more about this retro farmer look ZT

But yea I am more worried about fucking up the waist size because if it's too small then I can't wear them. Length is easier to be flexible around, if thy are too long then I can cuff them

marcos, Sunday, 4 January 2015 14:36 (eleven years ago)

btw I am definitely getting black. Seems somehow bizarre to me to wear blue pants even though blue jeans are like the most common thing people wear

i've never fuxed w/ 501's but i am a p skinny dude w/ p skinny legs so i feel like this will be a bit nagl for me vs. a slimmer cut

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 17:29 (eleven years ago)

the leg openings of 501s are a little big imo but with the black color and they way they treat them to be soft/floppy u dont notice as much where itd prob be the opposite crispy blue ones

lag∞n, Sunday, 4 January 2015 17:30 (eleven years ago)

levis def has some nice slim cuts that my thighs/ass are too big to fit in

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 4 January 2015 17:37 (eleven years ago)

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 4 January 2015 17:38 (eleven years ago)

i don't cuff them though, as the man in the pictures does, because for once i got a pair of jeans with legs the right length (i know!)

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 4 January 2015 17:42 (eleven years ago)

lol, honestly if you're not into 3 dimensional jeans shrinking chess and button flys you can just buy regular 505s in a decent color that fit okay off the rack. you can just tell people you're normcore, it'll be cool.

circles, Sunday, 4 January 2015 17:47 (eleven years ago)

511s are not that slim, really. I think they are the best jeans ever created.
