For sure wasteful, not going to argue with that one. And kind of a pain in the ass. It can suck carrying a big box with 5 pairs of shoes in it on the train, but I manage. To ship them back I just put them in my work outbox and the mail room takes care of it.

I do this primarily with running shoes, since going to a running shoe store with limited stock and a pushy salesman is the worst.

shopping on the line is the best and worst of times

like u can do it at ur leisure, think things over, comparison shop - but u cant try things on and u have to deal w the shipping stitch, i prefer it tho

companies (llbean, zappos) that include free return shipping labels in the box are god

amazon prime has em too but u have to print out yrself

also i live in the sticks so for a lot of stuff on the line is my only option

I know, and it's kind of shocking when you have to buy from a site that doesn't have a good return policy or fast free shipping with free return. I forget that everywhere doesn't work like Amazon/Zappos/Running Warehouse.

I've only returned things to Amazon twice but both times it let me request UPS come and pick up the box from our house, which was pretty amazing. That may not work out in the sticks.

yah even in my major-ish city there's no more than a handful of brick and mortar retailers for mens clothes that are worth a damn.

Also even in a major city if you're big and tall, you're generally SOL.

ok what is the best underwear that can transition from workaday to running/sports? i have been experimenting with low-end (walmart etc) boxer briefs, but I can't seem to find anything that doesn't end up chafing or bunching somewhere. I think I need something that is more snug in the most private of areas, or made of higher quality materials, or both. i am now willing to spend maybe $10 a pair (as opposed to $3) but I can't do much more than that. thanks.

Highly recommend Kirkland boxer-briefs from Costco -- just snug enough imo.

The gap ones also weren't bad iirc, maybe slightly more snug but they lost their fit faster in the wash.

i'd look for undies labeled as 'activewear' -- they have the snugness required iirc
do not put them in the dryer tho

get compression shorts just for running or wear briefs imho

two different kinds of underwear is way too complicated for me, only recently started stocking different types of non-athletic socks.

ya i use the build in underwears in shorts but then when its colder i wear pants no tights so

thanks bros, yeah I may go the compression shorts route. last pair of those I had were some electric blue Hinds in the 8th grade tbh. felt like a superhero.
