Thick black plastic frames have been out for a while now imo, Warby Parker not withstanding

I saw an older lawyer rockin' the thick black frames recently and making it work really well, but old lawyer style is its own separate thing.

yea on older folks i think black frames can look very good

there is this lawyer at the university i work at who has a totally shaved head and wears HUGE black frames, he's probably 40 or something

I recently bought a vintage pendleton B&W herringbone pattern coat that has very not-contemporary lapels and I'm kind of liking it. It has slightly odd pockets too, and also those big black old-man buttons which I have always loved. And the shape is a little straighter and more "sack" like than the super-tapered coats you see around now. Just kind of liking having a coat with some features that are not standard right now although the pattern looks very much in line with a lot of coats I see.

ohh a colleague had a coat yesterday that totally had that "sack" look and it looked great! it was wool and had a green tweed kind of fabric, i totally dug it

i went to the j press sample sale today and tried on a $2400 coat

reduced to $400 but it was too big

and it made me look like a FIFA board member

thing is i actually like overalls! huge doubts whether i could pull them off though. but yea those are dumb. basically i think overalls only work if:

-you are in a bluegrass band
-you work or live on a farm
-you are doing some kind of work that requires the coverage of overalls, e.g. woodworking, carpentry, construction, etc.

-you are in Color Me Badd

think if i lived on at least a half-acre, preferably more, of land in western MA i could wear overalls around the house and yard.

I can't find a picture of it, but the Brioni store window in midtown has this kimono-suit right now, it's like a charcoal wool business suit only the jacket is a wool kimono. IDK if that's cool or dumb, but I thought it was kind of funny. I do kind of covet Brioni suits tho. I have a Brioni tie that is my bigshot power tie.

Yes, I was going through am old yearbook recently and was surprised at all the overalls. I don't think I noticed anyone who didn't wear docs at the time.

also made me think of "open the kimono" xp. Now picturing a movie scene in a boardroom where guy at the head stands up and says "I think we ought to open the kimono on this one" *opens kimono suit jacket, pulls out machine gun, guns down entire board*

yeah it's definitely a little kickstartery/pomplamoussian but if it legitimately means getting good jeans at a lower price would give it a shot. The problem for me is that $99+ is still a pretty high price point for jeans in my book so they'd have to be damn good.

just buy yrself some nice jeans from an established denim provider {calculate jeans math}

i have a pair coming in a couple weeks. finally saw a fabric i really dug after a few months of keeping an eye on their stuff.

I can't buy nice pants because my waist size goes up and down too much. I'd have to get like 5 different sizes.
