rly feeling these pleated numbers, nonwithstanding the slightly smh implicit laboureur fetishism

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:20 (eleven years ago)

oh i like those

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:23 (eleven years ago)

im not ready for pleats and wide cuffs tbh. i am however really enjoying the expensive leisure pants trend

max, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:23 (eleven years ago)

not just because its nice to ditch the cuffed skinny jeans and pants for new stuff that has a very similar silhouette

max, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:24 (eleven years ago)

r u health goth now max

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:27 (eleven years ago)

"slightly"??

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:45 (eleven years ago)

oh come on laborer fetishism has been a fashion staple for decades

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:48 (eleven years ago)

btw there is this new fabric called "denim" that iirc was worn by some workers in the 19th century, it's very durable and i think it's gonna be the new thing

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:48 (eleven years ago)

personal fav is the brand unionmade whos clothes are not union made

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:49 (eleven years ago)

I generally like the fact that people wear more tailored and better fitting stuff now and I wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, I just feel like lapels and pants and ties and everything have gotten so slim as to look wispy.

a few weeks ago i saw a guy walking down cambridge heath road by himself. he had A Look that was arresting, it was like troo 70s, huge billowy flowing jeans with wide bellbottoms, a - yes - v-neck tee - and hair that looked like a bowl cut had been allowed to grow out for a couple of months. he was about 25 or so, just cutting through the world like a ship unmoored from time.

i hear u trace but come on those are positively discreet compared to most else you'll see

i like how they're sharp enough to fux with a tuff lieutenant-class military sass too (like not just hi these are green & maybe someone died in the trenches wearing them)

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:58 (eleven years ago)

My basic feeling is if you are tall and good looking and have good proportions you can wear anything and it will look good

Just my 0.02

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:59 (eleven years ago)

hey knock a zero off the price of those trousers and you could call them mao bizarre for all i cared, i'd have three pairs

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:03 (eleven years ago)

have seen tall good looking well proportioned men who do not look good in clothes before i think

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:03 (eleven years ago)

They were probably bad people

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:11 (eleven years ago)

are you short? because i am, and i have been fooled into thinking this before

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:21 (eleven years ago)

Am I short? I am the river that runs through the cavernous limescape

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:25 (eleven years ago)

i am very short and i know that wide leg & or pleated trousers are quite hard for shorties to pull off.

Nancy Whank (jed_), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:27 (eleven years ago)

not impossible though.

so like 5'7"?

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:29 (eleven years ago)

You're good

Very good

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:29 (eleven years ago)

i am 6'4" and (very) good looking and in decent shape and tiny suits and highwater pants and skinny ties look utterly and completely stupid on me. also none of the fancy fashiony brands make tall sizes so good luck like tucking in a band of outsiders or gant rugger or whatever shirt. ALSO there weren't all tall sizes of the steven alan suiting yesterday. IN CONCLUSION trust me it is very easy to be tall and look stupid even in expensive and thoughtfully assembled outfits.

adam, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:38 (eleven years ago)

Adam I think you and china vision should hang out and compare notes some time

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:40 (eleven years ago)

you might just be too tall try being like 6-1 instead

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 15:41 (eleven years ago)

i associate skinny suits w/ thom browne and uh wes anderson actually?

i did get there on thom browne upthread but wes anderson seems right too i remember a picture of him in like purple wearing this form-fitting linen suit that seems p prescient. also dude was about loafers a good 5 years before anyone else

one trend that i feel never really got its due is fun pants

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 22:57 (eleven years ago)

I'm not actually sure here if Hermes actually makes a winged sneaker or if they're just the generic name

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 22:59 (eleven years ago)

lol

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 23:01 (eleven years ago)

not the brand... the god

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 23:02 (eleven years ago)

Anyway I miss menswear out in East Asia

Dudes in HK and Korea and Japan and China have so much fun

There are all these little compact malls filled with fly by night brands that p much just copy all the latest name brand stuff out there

So it's super easy and cheap to throw together a fun look

In #the_west it seems people are very much into buying things 'that will last' and being into boutique Scandinavian brands that cost $200 for a pant

W/e

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 23:03 (eleven years ago)

love2spend $$$ for pant
