from the outside looking in turn of the century hipsters seem like the catalysts for the skinny pant thing althoug i feel like it didnt hit #menswear until like 2004/5 - actually the movie 'stay' with ewan mcgregor and naomi watts i remember watching that and thinking about how awesome mcgregors suits looked. he was rocking the very tailored suits cut short at the cuffs with bare ankles thing in that which is the first place i saw it

I remember my cool friends buying skinny jeans around 2001/2002. but I didn't buy jeans until like 2007.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:36 (eleven years ago)

my early adapter friend was also the one who loaned out his strokes cd to everyone to copy in early fall 2001.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:36 (eleven years ago)

oh wait that's early adopter isn't it? I just realized.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:37 (eleven years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:37 (eleven years ago)

there were no adaptations, just skinny jeans as purchased

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:38 (eleven years ago)

haha i wanted to mentioned the strokes in connection with skinny jeans. also that first dude you posted is super on point

ok it took me like ten minutes of googling but thom browne made the suits for the movie 'stay' and he is def the person that i associate with transporting the look into suiting

back to posting amazing pictures of david bowie plz

xp - white belts!!

≖_≖ (Lamp), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:42 (eleven years ago)

interesting the strokes songwriters are different than their pants innovators, then theres the poor bass player

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:45 (eleven years ago)

it's crazy how cool the strokes looked at the time and how much all of those elements became dated so quickly. even how the photograph looks too 'nice' and photoshooty to pass as terribly cool probably 5 years later.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:46 (eleven years ago)

there is a pretty fun shirt in that photo

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:46 (eleven years ago)

I'm not going to commit too stongly to my statement about the photo quality. kinda feel like I might have gone too far... sorry.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:49 (eleven years ago)

the leather jackets are just a few oddly placed zippers away from being very contemporary but man the deepness of those vees is like a journey into the distant past

≖_≖ (Lamp), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 04:51 (eleven years ago)

bros still wear vees like that!

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:02 (eleven years ago)

one thing i never really liked re super tailored jackets is the those sharp peaked shoulders like the guy with the dog has whole thing looks overly constrained and unchill

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:04 (eleven years ago)

bros still wear vees like that!

i didnt want this disturbing post to get lost in the flood of disturbing images that followed it - feels like you kinda unleashed the darkness here 'goon

≖_≖ (Lamp), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:05 (eleven years ago)

lol sry but its true like bros bros still rock the scoopneck vee

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:06 (eleven years ago)

it can look alright I think. maybe the contrast is making them look especially weird there. and the way he's standing. xxpost

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:07 (eleven years ago)

the scoopneck vee is the skinny suit of shirts. bros are wearing it but the people are getting tired.

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:08 (eleven years ago)

we're in 1982, and some of us are moving forward while the rest look like they're out of the last decade

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:10 (eleven years ago)

(I have a skinny suit that I will continue to wear until I can afford more suits fwiw)

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:10 (eleven years ago)

haha yeah most of my clothes are still pretty 'take ivy' i have some baggy trousers i bought at vintage stores but i spend too much on clothes to start throwing out my apcs with the deep v tees

≖_≖ (Lamp), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 05:16 (eleven years ago)

i associate skinny suits w/ thom browne and uh wes anderson actually?

max, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:41 (eleven years ago)

the first person i remember wearing really skinny jeans was in snr year of high school this artist dude was dating a friend of mine and she told me he bought girls jeans because he couldnt find boys jeans that were tight enough and the whole time she was dating him we just referred to him as 'girl jeans'

This super emo kid I knew 01/02 was definitely getting his girlfriend to buy him jeans

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:47 (eleven years ago)

God... was it even called emo back then..... .... .... ? .. ?

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:48 (eleven years ago)

I associate skinny jeans w/ pee wee herman -_-

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:48 (eleven years ago)

I mean uh skinny suits

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:48 (eleven years ago)

i have transitioned to higher waist and wider leg but i still find the break 2 norm 2 handle (or rather too tricky to get right) so i just tend to roll em up for an abrupt stop and go for the japanese chimney sweep look

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:54 (eleven years ago)

Ay I'd like to see you in a flowing linen button up set in a cool taupe

, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 11:57 (eleven years ago)

yea i'm getting there, have latterly obtained much flowing linens

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 12:00 (eleven years ago)

always baffled and upset when i see ppl not sharing my virulent distaste for all v tees deep or regular btw

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 12:01 (eleven years ago)

vees are key undershirts imo

i like tank tops best, theoretically, but no pits = no sweat moppage

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 13:24 (eleven years ago)

meant more for fash purposes than addressing medical conditions

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:17 (eleven years ago)

rly feeling these pleated numbers, nonwithstanding the slightly smh implicit laboureur fetishism

r|t|c, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:20 (eleven years ago)

oh i like those

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:23 (eleven years ago)

im not ready for pleats and wide cuffs tbh. i am however really enjoying the expensive leisure pants trend

max, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:23 (eleven years ago)

not just because its nice to ditch the cuffed skinny jeans and pants for new stuff that has a very similar silhouette

max, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:24 (eleven years ago)

r u health goth now max

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:27 (eleven years ago)

"slightly"??

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:45 (eleven years ago)

oh come on laborer fetishism has been a fashion staple for decades

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:48 (eleven years ago)

btw there is this new fabric called "denim" that iirc was worn by some workers in the 19th century, it's very durable and i think it's gonna be the new thing

marcos, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:48 (eleven years ago)

personal fav is the brand unionmade whos clothes are not union made
