Everything I wanted in the Steven alan sale went in the first few hours.

Is it dumb to get jeans a waist size up ( one inch up) and get them tailored?

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 15:43 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:03 (eleven years ago)

Think you wanna size down with jeans because they'll stretch as you wear?

Otherwise you'll have floppy jeans

, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:08 (eleven years ago)

floppy jeans is so out

lag∞n, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:09 (eleven years ago)

thought they were coming back #normcore

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:10 (eleven years ago)

Relaxed fit. Because being relaxed never goes out of style.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:11 (eleven years ago)

I was wondering to myself on the subway today in what year drop-crotch pants will become workwear.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:11 (eleven years ago)

be relaxed... but never floppy --a handsome man

lag∞n, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:19 (eleven years ago)

annoying how pants become floppy after a year or two of wear

marcos, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:21 (eleven years ago)

line/flat drying helps some with that

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:23 (eleven years ago)

Goon do you understand those 1-6 t-shirt sizes on the Simon Miller shirts? No idea what that means.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:31 (eleven years ago)

naw u look at simon millers website

lag∞n, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:32 (eleven years ago)

There are still some alright button shirts left in my size but nothing I really want to pay $70 or $100 for even on sale.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:33 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:35 (eleven years ago)

i am wearing wide legged pants right now and i feel especially hip b/c i work downtown and all the young financial dirtbags have discovered too-small-suits and have fully embraced #menswear and i look at them with disdain and i sneer and i whisper get on my level

adam, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:35 (eleven years ago)

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:37 (eleven years ago)

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:37 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 17 November 2014 16:41 (eleven years ago)

I just bought my first Steven Alan item - a like-new sweater off ebay. It's great, my favorite sweater now.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 17 November 2014 16:47 (eleven years ago)

I got me some Surface to Air jeans last week on sale on Gilt.

A StA sweater I bought two years ago is one of my favorites. Like this one but blue, and got it at Nordstrom Rack for 90% off, like $35.

caek, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:17 (eleven years ago)

otm. pre-internet it took oblivious plebs like 10 years to catch on, now it's a more threatening ~5.

rip van wanko, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:23 (eleven years ago)

slim cut tailored look has prob been around for almost ten now

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:27 (eleven years ago)

tho w/in that there have obvs been diff shapes/styles

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:30 (eleven years ago)

actually tight t-shirts and highwater pants became cool mid-90s (thinking hardcore/emo scene), was that the influence? although you can trace any trend backwards endlessly if you want to I suppose.

rip van wanko, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:38 (eleven years ago)

yeah theres always someone out there wearing tite pants

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:39 (eleven years ago)

feel like tho yeah emo guys wearing girl jeans was def an influence on skinny jeans then from the more establishment fashion side came the little suits and fitted looks

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:49 (eleven years ago)

I always thought skinny suits were a bod thing

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:49 (eleven years ago)

uh I mean mod thing

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:49 (eleven years ago)

arent mods from like the 1960s tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:50 (eleven years ago)

followed by a mad men thing (even if their suits weren't actually that skinny)

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:51 (eleven years ago)

well yeah I just figured that's where the style always points

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:51 (eleven years ago)

tight suits, narrow lapels, skinny ties. just a little more exagerated each iteration

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:52 (eleven years ago)

skinny jeans was a retro thing too though right?

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:52 (eleven years ago)

feel like ultimately there are only so many shapes but i dont think any of those looks gained popularity out of people wearing vintage clothes or something, those obvs people take inspiration from days of yore

lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:56 (eleven years ago)

I like pleated pants. I think they are hated for their 80s incarnation. but with a high waist they're nice!

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:56 (eleven years ago)

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:57 (eleven years ago)

those pants look so good

chinavision!, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:58 (eleven years ago)

pleated pants imo are so much harder to get right, they need tailoring and cuffs and nice heavy fabric and all these things that are lost in the name of speed and convenience.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 18 November 2014 02:59 (eleven years ago)

pleats are just kinda an advanced look if u have some huge ill fitting chinos theyre obvs not gonna improve the situation which is what most people associate them with, i have a suit w pleated pants tho its just a single pleat
