marcos ime there's usually a difference between "slim" and "skinny" -- "slim" often just means "fits nicely, not baggy, more tailored look" whereas skinny = clings to your legs. This will vary some -- slim in a major brand like Levi's is probably going to be less slim than slim from some fashion brand that already makes tailored-looking stuff to begin with.

C/D -- buying women's floral pants because they're a lot more abundant and less expensive?

yeah, not sure if it's just where i live but rugby sweaters would be counted as EXTREMELY norm (not even normcore) in my neck of the woods. Still looks cool on him though.

give me some ideas on how to blow a couple hundred in Nordstrom gift cards y'all

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 27 October 2014 02:04 (eleven years ago)

i'm not a huge fan of a lot of what nordstrom sells. put a dent in the price of a samuelsohn suit maybe?

call all destroyer, Monday, 27 October 2014 02:14 (eleven years ago)

nordstrom's has a pretty good shoe selection iirc, if you need kicks or dress shoes

Clay, Monday, 27 October 2014 02:31 (eleven years ago)

Nordstrom's 'trim fit' dress shirt fits my body perfectly

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 27 October 2014 03:39 (eleven years ago)

man, they have one samuelsohn suit, it's really nice, but no short jacket size and it's $1100.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 27 October 2014 03:40 (eleven years ago)

i was just looking at the wedding photos of a fb friend and i feel like this isn't the first time i've seen this where the groom and groomsmen wear suits and then wear some kind of inappropriate shoe. in this case it was charcoal suits with chunky white boat shoes. here is another example of same from the net:

http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/6a/69/18/6a69181e6907105f94a96fb57fcb061e.jpg

idk where this look originated but it is so viscerally horrible that i want to kill somebody. what does it even suggest? "i am so unconfident in my ability to wear a suit that i need to accessorize with a reminder i do not dare to take myself seriously/have dignity?"

i'm sorry to sound upset, i just needed to let these feelings out.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 6 November 2014 04:28 (eleven years ago)

you can all wear the same boat shoes but that won't hide the progression of male pattern baldness on display in your family.

mattresslessness, Thursday, 6 November 2014 04:46 (eleven years ago)

those are especially bad boat shoes

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 14:21 (eleven years ago)

Even the kid's shoes are better

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 14:21 (eleven years ago)

yeah terrible. i understand the loafers + suit look that was big in the summer but those look like they're made of scaffolding foam.

joni mitchell jarre (dog latin), Thursday, 6 November 2014 14:27 (eleven years ago)

just some fun guys having a wedding nbd

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 14:33 (eleven years ago)

I think it's like a bad imitation of some kind of good-ole-boy rich southerner thing

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 14:35 (eleven years ago)

yeah it's def for people who listen to good-timey country pop

call all destroyer, Thursday, 6 November 2014 15:27 (eleven years ago)

you wear khaki suits btw May 15 and June 11 or some bullshit like that

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 15:31 (eleven years ago)

also, slaves

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 15:31 (eleven years ago)

How do you guys feel about the Henley shirt I feel like I've been seeing a lot of them

I don't have hair on my chest I should take advantage

, Thursday, 6 November 2014 18:12 (eleven years ago)

IMO they look very generic department store catalogish. I have seen them advertised a lot lately, is that because of normcore?

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 18:14 (eleven years ago)

may have said this upthread but I have a theory that normcore basically = the stuff that celebrities wear when they go to starbucks and are trying to "blend in"

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 18:15 (eleven years ago)

How do you guys feel about the Henley shirt I feel like I've been seeing a lot of them

It's an Eddie Bauer catalog from 1995 and we're all just living in it.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Thursday, 6 November 2014 18:17 (eleven years ago)

ive always wondered if they were named after don henley or vice versa

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 18:17 (eleven years ago)

yeah that's exactly the description I was looking for laurel

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 18:17 (eleven years ago)

BTW on what occasions does one wear a shirt w/ a french cuff

Do I need one is my question

, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:28 (eleven years ago)

IMO any time you wear a suit it's fine, looks funny without one. I'm not partial to them in general though.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:31 (eleven years ago)

No, you don't need any. Except maybe tuxedo shirts, if you're actually going to own a tux.

naw

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:42 (eleven years ago)

yes it's only *required* if you are wearing a tuxedo, and then you're getting a tuxedo shirt.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:48 (eleven years ago)

Also dudes who are into cufflinks are usually assholes

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 November 2014 19:50 (eleven years ago)

I had a colleague who used to wear french cuffs. Certainly no asshole. But he also wore cowboy boots. When you google that combo, you get a full page of results about Rick Perry.

how's life, Thursday, 6 November 2014 20:00 (eleven years ago)

i like french cuff shirts but i am also an asshole
