"picked out the fabric and everyonething"

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:05 (eleven years ago)

My bf isn't that tall (5'10"?) but he does have a gigantic chest/torso circumference and I'm trying to think what he wears...he works in a woodshop so usu dresses p casual. He has a lot of colorful shirts and some nice sport jackets but they're all over the place bc he wears them so rarely.

I'm same height and also have a ginormous chest which actually has had an impact on my posture - I feel I have to stoop or else my shirt becomes untucked or I end up showing my midriff in t-shirts. sometimes suffer from a gaping button in the middle of my chest too, which makes me draw my shoulders in more. Very rarely can I find shirts/t-shirts with a little extra length or necessary chest width to accommodate it.

Ralph Lauren seems like they have five dozen different product lines and I can't keep straight which ones are high quality and which ones are outlet garbage.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 2 October 2014 17:15 (eleven years ago)

purple label and black label are the actual expensive stuff, polo ralph lauren is the midtier brand (and a good brand to bargain hunt), anything else (lauren, denim and supply) might have something good but approach with caution.

call all destroyer, Friday, 3 October 2014 12:18 (eleven years ago)

why is the model in that photo wearing jeans that are clearly too large for him?

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 3 October 2014 13:16 (eleven years ago)

lol do they still make polo sport? I used to have this shitty polo sport american flag long sleeve tee that I guess I thought was hip-hop or something

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 3 October 2014 13:52 (eleven years ago)

wore mad amounts of polo sport cologne in summer after 8th grade

marcos, Friday, 3 October 2014 13:54 (eleven years ago)

did it have a blue bottle?

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 3 October 2014 13:56 (eleven years ago)

i had a yellow terry cloth polo sport long sleeve tee type thing that i adored

lag∞n, Friday, 3 October 2014 13:59 (eleven years ago)

feel like terrycloth is underutilized

lag∞n, Friday, 3 October 2014 14:00 (eleven years ago)

lol yes it definitely had a blue bottle xp

marcos, Friday, 3 October 2014 14:01 (eleven years ago)

funny i don't know anybody in social circle who wears perfume or cologne anymore. people wore that shit like crazy in high school though. ck be was my favorite as a 16 year old.

marcos, Friday, 3 October 2014 14:03 (eleven years ago)

*my social circle

marcos, Friday, 3 October 2014 14:03 (eleven years ago)

Terrycloth is literally terrible, it's a "summer" fabric heavier than your average fall coat. Believe me, I've been trying to find more occasions to wear my terrycloth dress for years.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 3 October 2014 14:05 (eleven years ago)

And the bottle had like a raised flag indent in it, right? Totally picturing it now. xp

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 3 October 2014 14:06 (eleven years ago)

Yeah I feel like today I almost never smell cologne on anyone, to the point that when I do it's nauseating. I don't know if it went out of style or I'm just not 14 anymore.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 3 October 2014 14:06 (eleven years ago)

yea i think it was a round cylindrical thing with a silver cap xp

yes! i find totally find it nauseating, it's gross

marcos, Friday, 3 October 2014 14:07 (eleven years ago)

when i was changing today in the gym locker room i inhaled a great mouthful of some dude's cologne and it literally coated my fucking mouth. i was tasting it. it was like i had opened up and someone just blasted bugspray right on my tongue. so rude!

feeling it

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 16:51 (eleven years ago)

ties kinda remind me of sneakers in that their parameters are quite constrained allowing for all sorts wild design w/in that, also kinda comfort fashion for men in that theyre understandable and kinda quantifiable as opposed to the wider anything goes world of fashion

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 16:51 (eleven years ago)

99% of men's fashion is like that though

sweet lids of the stars (seandalai), Tuesday, 14 October 2014 16:56 (eleven years ago)

I'm wearing crazy socks today

sweet lids of the stars (seandalai), Tuesday, 14 October 2014 16:56 (eleven years ago)

Pretty sure I had a rugby shirt like that in one of my senior pictures circa fall of 1991.

nah like pants shirt suits etc basically everything have much less clearly defined forms, graphic tees you cld put in there tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 17:11 (eleven years ago)

so i pretty much do not wear "skinny" or "slim-fit" pants but i thought maybe i'd try them, thinking i might look a little more refined. i ordered some dark chinos and corduroys and i don't know, i feel like they really did not look good on me at all. i'm really skinny, pretty much as a skinny as a 5'7" dude comes, and i feel like they just looked really fucking weird on me. maybe i'm used to more relaxed or loose fitting pants (not necessarily baggy but definitely not slim) and they just seemed like a shock, but couldn't bring myself to keep them.

marcos, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 18:12 (eleven years ago)

every single pair of pants in the world is cut differently so i mean don't give up on slim fit as a concept

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 14 October 2014 18:21 (eleven years ago)

ties come in different widths and lengths and fabrics and tippings

sweet lids of the stars (seandalai), Tuesday, 14 October 2014 19:09 (eleven years ago)

I kinda half suspect that none of these shirts/sweaters are actually cool at all and elmo just looks cool in everything.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 14 October 2014 19:23 (eleven years ago)

marcos ime there's usually a difference between "slim" and "skinny" -- "slim" often just means "fits nicely, not baggy, more tailored look" whereas skinny = clings to your legs. This will vary some -- slim in a major brand like Levi's is probably going to be less slim than slim from some fashion brand that already makes tailored-looking stuff to begin with.

C/D -- buying women's floral pants because they're a lot more abundant and less expensive?

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 21 October 2014 20:56 (eleven years ago)

yeah, not sure if it's just where i live but rugby sweaters would be counted as EXTREMELY norm (not even normcore) in my neck of the woods. Still looks cool on him though.

give me some ideas on how to blow a couple hundred in Nordstrom gift cards y'all

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Monday, 27 October 2014 02:04 (eleven years ago)

i'm not a huge fan of a lot of what nordstrom sells. put a dent in the price of a samuelsohn suit maybe?
