lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:12 (eleven years ago)

This is the hoody I'm wearing now. It's basically falling apart. It's like 8 years old.

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:17 (eleven years ago)

i wonder how i get one of those

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:17 (eleven years ago)

1 vote for zip hoodies, altho i used to always have a bunch and now i am down to one, so maybe i am moving on anyway

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:17 (eleven years ago)

I had this blue champion brand pullover hoodie that I used to rock a lot in a proto-normcore sort of way. Held up for a long time but eventually too many washes made it look kind of limp.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 26 September 2014 15:18 (eleven years ago)

i like that hoodie jeff. dark grey is a nice color for a hoodie. mine is kind of a charcoal-ish color, not completely black but darker than grey.

marcos, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:20 (eleven years ago)

i was looking at champion hoodies the other day i might get one, the hood is such an excessive shape tho idk

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:20 (eleven years ago)

lagoon i think maybe carhartt sells the super-thick hoodies with the waffle lining

marcos, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:20 (eleven years ago)

also all of them seem to just have the logo on the l breast but i wld like one w the whole name in script liek it used to be

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:22 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:22 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:30 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:32 (eleven years ago)

max, Friday, 26 September 2014 17:47 (eleven years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 17:50 (eleven years ago)

I refuse to say the word "hoodie" and always refer to them as hooded sweatshirts even if it makes me sound like a pedantic asshole. I only ever get $10 black ones and wear them when I walk the dog or whatever.

Also I'm kind of feeling markers here in tying to not feel like as much of a slob. I used to be way worse and have kind of started dressing nicer to some degree. For the last 15 years I've worked in the basement of an IT department, the basement of a university library, and in grad school for art and the fashion bar was set super low for all of these - wearing a shirt with buttons meant you were often the classiest person in the room.

I've lost like 80 pounds over the last 10 years (could stand to lose another 20) so I'm no longer a huge fatass but even if I was emaciated I'd still have a huge barrel chest and look like a football lineman. Are there places to look for clothing ideas that aren't super skinny models but also aren't shit like this?

lag∞n, Friday, 26 September 2014 18:40 (eleven years ago)

Ugh that guy is so obviously a "dad."

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 26 September 2014 18:40 (eleven years ago)

i'm really not a fan of shaped and sculpted beards like that

marcos, Friday, 26 September 2014 18:41 (eleven years ago)

My bf isn't that tall (5'10"?) but he does have a gigantic chest/torso circumference and I'm trying to think what he wears...he works in a woodshop so usu dresses p casual. He has a lot of colorful shirts and some nice sport jackets but they're all over the place bc he wears them so rarely.

I do think he has the issue of shirts being flappy around his upper arms when they're big enough for his chest/neck, I made him start getting more fitted tees bc the underwear brand ones assume your arms are giant apparently.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 26 September 2014 18:47 (eleven years ago)

yeah otr shirt arms are generally too big ime. i've had some shirt sleeves slimmed by my tailor but it's too expensive to do across the board.

call all destroyer, Friday, 26 September 2014 18:53 (eleven years ago)

apologies for dropping out for longer than i should've, especially when a lot of the discussion was about me

cad, we should probably talk about maybe getting together, i'm gonna need some help figuring this shit out b/c i'm just completely clueless

hurting, i'd have to look at that picture again, but i don't know how long it'd been before it was taken that i'd gotten a haircut. my problem is that i usually wait too long in between going

anyway, i haven't made any progress on this in the past week, but i am really intent on switching things up

markers, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 15:08 (eleven years ago)

yeah man get at me whenever

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:41 (eleven years ago)

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:48 (eleven years ago)

Which Taylor Swift song would be the soundtrack?

, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:48 (eleven years ago)

leave that up to mark dawg

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:49 (eleven years ago)

re: shirt sleeves i feel like so many shirts have sleeves that are too long for me. like 3-4 inches too long. not a problem during summer since i often roll up sleeves but rolled down every shirt looks too big for me even if the torso and neck fit fine. realized how many more shirts in my closet would be more wearable if the sleeves were shorter

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:50 (eleven years ago)

ya i have super dworfin short arms (and body) and i get my shirts tailored

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:55 (eleven years ago)

one time this lady just cut the button part short that extends down the sleeve so i couldnt roll them up really i was so mad, now i make sure tha theyre gonna take that whole thing off and reattach it, also m2m is worth it if youre willing to drop a lil $$

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:57 (eleven years ago)

i just got my first proper cloth shirt, i need to tweak the sleeve and cuff measurements for next time but it's pretty amazing.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 16:58 (eleven years ago)

xp ha, a few years ago i took a bunch of shirts to about 5 different places (no real-deal tailors though, mostly dry cleaners that advertised alterations) and nobody wanted to do the whole sleeve detachment thing. they all complained and said they would only cut the sleeve short at the bottom end. i declined and never got them fixed.

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:01 (eleven years ago)

lagoon how much did it run you for a single shirt

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:02 (eleven years ago)

its usually like $15 i feel like

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:03 (eleven years ago)

chinatown is a good bet if ur looking for cheap tailoring fwiw

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:04 (eleven years ago)

that's not too bad, i was thinking it would be more. i need to look into this.

xp yea cad, i have never done proper cloth but for my wedding five years ago my in-laws bought me a custom-made shirt from a local tailor, guy came and took my measurements and i picked out the fabric and everyone. it's pretty amazing. i rarely wear the shirt though since it's french cuffs and i only dress up that much for a wedding or something. even then i might not be THAT dressed up.

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:04 (eleven years ago)

"picked out the fabric and everyonething"

marcos, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 17:05 (eleven years ago)

I'm same height and also have a ginormous chest which actually has had an impact on my posture - I feel I have to stoop or else my shirt becomes untucked or I end up showing my midriff in t-shirts. sometimes suffer from a gaping button in the middle of my chest too, which makes me draw my shoulders in more. Very rarely can I find shirts/t-shirts with a little extra length or necessary chest width to accommodate it.

Ralph Lauren seems like they have five dozen different product lines and I can't keep straight which ones are high quality and which ones are outlet garbage.

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Thursday, 2 October 2014 17:15 (eleven years ago)

purple label and black label are the actual expensive stuff, polo ralph lauren is the midtier brand (and a good brand to bargain hunt), anything else (lauren, denim and supply) might have something good but approach with caution.

call all destroyer, Friday, 3 October 2014 12:18 (eleven years ago)

why is the model in that photo wearing jeans that are clearly too large for him?

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 3 October 2014 13:16 (eleven years ago)

lol do they still make polo sport? I used to have this shitty polo sport american flag long sleeve tee that I guess I thought was hip-hop or something

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 3 October 2014 13:52 (eleven years ago)

wore mad amounts of polo sport cologne in summer after 8th grade
