Christine!

carl agatha, Saturday, 3 May 2014 07:35 (twelve years ago)

Hello Christine!

I like the L'Oreal BB cream just as much as my Prescriptives light foundation, but no 'boom, wow!' effect.

ljubljana, Saturday, 3 May 2014 10:16 (twelve years ago)

Hi everyone!

(I have some tinted moisturizer from some time ago, see.)

Yes! I am!

YAY. :D

Wanna brainstorm some potential topics? Also, I as thinking we could branch out a little into wellness and things that have to do with beauty via that? Like, it doesn't all have to be tutorials or product reviews.

I could set up a lil wordpress installation for that (but only domain I own is my name = kinda lame for the blog to live on)

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 15:04 (eleven years ago)

lol i don't even know what that means?? Can you explain? The old one was on blogspot I think?

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 15:06 (eleven years ago)

Oh, well Wordpress would allow tags & search and customization in a way I think blogspot doesn't? But it needs to be installed on a web domain (="hosted"), not on free sites. Maybe once it gets busier!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 15:09 (eleven years ago)

I need this in my life. I'm trying to write a lil every day. a blog entry every week or couple weeks would be a good incentive.

I want to do this so badly but I can barely answer texts much less commit to blog posts. :(

four months pass...

Can we have a BB and/or CC cream roundup? Must have SPF. I burnt my face using the L'Oreal one this summer, because I forgot it doesn't have SPF and I was in the UK during a crazy uncharacteristic real summer heatwave.

Misscha BB cream? http://missha.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2238_2239_2265&products_id=4053&zenid=gvu2cgjjrok48b7nkoc5mdv791

Clinique CC cream? http://www.clinique.com/product/11480/29795/Makeup/Foundations/Multitaskers/Moisture-Surge-CC-Cream-Compact-Hydrating-Colour-Corrector-Broad-Spectrum-SPF-25

ljubljana, Sunday, 23 November 2014 04:49 (eleven years ago)

I swear by Peter Thomas Roth cc cream

Have used it for over a year now, would not use anything else even though it is kinda $$

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 23 November 2014 04:51 (eleven years ago)

I use a Revlon CC cream basically as a tinted moisturizer and I like it a lot.

carl agatha, Sunday, 23 November 2014 06:27 (eleven years ago)

I liked the Loreal Photoready, which reviews say is a little oily but in a dry climate it might work out fine--I was happy with it all summer. For winter coverage I actually prefer

Thanks! I'll be near a Sephora today so will check out the Peter Thomas Roth in there, and the other two in the drugstore.

two months pass...

I have been trying a lot of makeup stuff I used to be way afraid of. eg most of it. Fun & I like how it looks. Except there is a learning curve where somedays I realize I did my eyebrows way too dark/full and I feel like Joan Crawford.

pilate is my cogod (Crabbits), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 13:48 (eleven years ago)

ive been using a lot of stuff i used to be afraid of too!

ive been pencilling in my eyebrows too and get compliments on my brows all the time, something ive never experienced in my life! i use a med brown pencil so i don't look like bert

also: purple lipstick

jello my future biafriend (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 15:33 (eleven years ago)

I love purple lipstick.

tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 15:42 (eleven years ago)

I need to re-dye my eyebrows but the dye also settles into my pores and gives me blackheads so I have to go buy another one of those extraction tools first (I lost mine somehow) for the after-care. But yes, eyebrows make a HUGE DIFFERENCE on a face and I'm still kind of in awe of them! As someone whose brows are blonde and invisible in photos.

I do use a pencil for stage make-up and photos but I don't think I have the skills to get pencil to look natural close-up.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 15:45 (eleven years ago)

ive been on a really stringent skincare regimen for all of 2015
every day: wash my face with a jojoba/macadamia nut oil-based cleanser every night, then witch hazel as toner, and jojoba/vitamin E oil on my face and neck (and hair), also biotin supplement and 64+ oz water. weekly: pore clearing mask, brisk exfoliation

skin looks very bright and healthy tbh

jojoba is a miracle

jello my future biafriend (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 15:51 (eleven years ago)

hahaha the days when I never left the house without makeup
/new mum

kinder, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 16:05 (eleven years ago)

i have a medium brown/dark blond laura mercier eyebrow pencil that looks natural and i love it - it has a brush on one end to smooth out harsh lines - try it, laurel!
eyebrows and blush are my necessities now for make-up, whereas mascara and cover-up used to be. i guess i really am 40, ha

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 16:08 (eleven years ago)

haha yeah re: new mom, my skin has become better now that i don't have time to fuss with it in the mirror! i still use the clindoxyl (acne rosacea 4evah) and a basic moisturizer though.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 16:12 (eleven years ago)

I use a pencil and brow gel. Highly recommend it.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 16:15 (eleven years ago)

two friends of mine visited me right after getting their eyebrows threaded in my neighbourhood and they looked amazing. they both have naturally dark and bold eyebrows. i don't think i have enough eyebrow to warrant it but i kind of want to anyway just to see...

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 16:27 (eleven years ago)

Oh I like threading! I don't have dark, bold brows either and it works for me. I actually just discovered a place that is relatively convenient to my home that is $7 for brow threading!

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 16:30 (eleven years ago)

the anastasia brow whiz pencil is awesome - looks totally natural. i figured out something after watching a couple of lisa eldridge vids: she doesn't fill in the first quarter/widest part of her brows, so they don't end up looking overly penciled or fake.

just1n3, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 18:03 (eleven years ago)

i have a little brow box that has two brushes and a wax and a powder -- it works pretty well
i've tried pencils and powders and now i need double strength i guess

also i went to ulta to replace my eyeliner and they were all out my standard brown
a young man offered to help me and i was like "should i get the purple instead?" and he said "you've got glow in the dark eyes, yes absolutely" and i appreciated his quick and efficient salesmanship + compliment

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

i want to get my eyebrows threaded i think

mine are dark brooke shieldsian caterpillars that i've never done a thing to, kinda think some tidying is in order

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 19:47 (eleven years ago)

it makes a big difference, you're gonna love it!
i remember when i first started grooming my eyebrows -- it was like a total transformation, borderline new face

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 19:50 (eleven years ago)

what is eyebrow threading?

Mistah FAAB (sarahell), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 20:14 (eleven years ago)

it sounds painful, somewhere between bikini waxing and gum surgery

Mistah FAAB (sarahell), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 20:15 (eleven years ago)

ancient method of hair removal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threading_%28epilation%29

most people i see getting it done aren't screaming -- i think it's not that bad?

groundless round (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 20:16 (eleven years ago)

of course the first thing that really caught my eye was:

Verma, S. B. (2009). "Eyebrow threading: A popular hair-removal procedure and its seldom-discussed complications". Clinical and Experimental Dermatology 34 (3): 363–365

Mistah FAAB (sarahell), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 20:20 (eleven years ago)

I think I am just culturally embarrassed by paying people to do things like that for/to me.

Mistah FAAB (sarahell), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 20:23 (eleven years ago)

No, it's not that bad! It's on par with waxing, pain-wise, although it makes me sneeze like crazy. It's basically like high-speed plucking.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 20:23 (eleven years ago)

A bit of eye brow shaping and coloring can really make a face stand out. I remember the first time I saw my friend - red head with wiggly blonde eyebrows - the first time after she'd threaded them, and I figure out why she looked particularly stunning that day... It was all in the brows!

just1n3, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 21:08 (eleven years ago)

Even if I don't do any other make up, I do my brows - and imo it's esp effective if you wear heavy framed glasses

just1n3, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 21:10 (eleven years ago)

I tweezed my own eyebrows tonight!
I did not like it but more importantly I did not fuck it up yay. Not very styley but at least neater & a bit more shaped. Also bought a maybelline eyebrow gel spooly brush hoonja doonja, works p good!

Oh AND i think I have finally mastered my eyeshadow technique

Going to a semiformal do next week, hence the sudden beautifying

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 13 February 2015 04:26 (eleven years ago)

oh and can I add that my local ulta sucks baaaaaalllllls

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 13 February 2015 04:26 (eleven years ago)

my only advice for plucking is: do it after a hot shower (it hurts way less), go slow, and do it frequently so you don't have to do a painful marathon plucking session.

just1n3, Friday, 13 February 2015 05:06 (eleven years ago)

thx!!

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 13 February 2015 05:48 (eleven years ago)

i found a really good tutorial video for hooded eye smoky eyeshadow makeup. it's kind of commonsense but I found it v helpful for technique
plus I like she does the tutorial on a real girl rather than a model, and interacts with her

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 February 2015 07:26 (eleven years ago)

ugh LE makes it all look so effortless :/ but i have def picked up a few good tricks from her.

just1n3, Sunday, 22 February 2015 07:36 (eleven years ago)

That was great.

Wow, if I'd been a teenager in the age of YouTube my make-up would've been so much better! Maybe. I guess it was the 90s though so my liquid-lined nude top lid was de rigueur.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 22 February 2015 12:15 (eleven years ago)

I need that lady to come over and do my makeup for me because that looked amazing but I can't could never replicate it.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Sunday, 22 February 2015 15:01 (eleven years ago)

i think i have hooded eyes, idk. i cant see my eyeshadow when i open my eyes

jello my future biafriend (roxymuzak), Thursday, 26 February 2015 18:13 (eleven years ago)

I have the Anastasia brow pencil but I very rarely use it but I think I lucked out with my brows in that I don't really have to do much to them.

I've also been adhering to a pretty strict skincare regimen since Jan and I don't think my skin has looked this good since I was in college tbh. I'm so happy!

Things I've been loving recently:

This W&W is $5 and it's amazing. I don't wear foundation but I've been using this + concealer and I really really like it. http://thelittlewolf.net/2015/02/18/new-wet-n-wild-cover-all-primer-base-de-teint/

This is the best blush I've ever used and the cool pink color is AMAZING. http://www.makeupforever.com/us/en-us/make-up/face/blush/hd-blush

The Covergirl lip lava lipglosses are really bright and/or sparkly but a lot of fun.
