I read that one fairly regularly. It's great.

I love the green! Now that is depth. Gorgeous.

I used the Electric Palette for the first time today. Did you look at any tutorials online? I did my eyes based on one I saw.
― tokyo rosemary, Sunday, 20 April 2014 04:26 (twelve years ago)
yeah I used this one: http://www.keikolynn.com/2014/04/makeup-monday-urban-decay-electric.html
I would have had no idea where to start otherwise

excellent job vg! i like bold eyeshadow -- I feel like it challenges the person who looks at your face more than it challenges the person wearing it. Like, "deal with my mermaid eyes, onlooker"
i like using one single color -- i bought some bright orange from a brand called makeup forever? it's supposed to be waterproof, and it's a nice bright highly pigmented orange, not shimmery just orange. it makes me look kinda alien bc my eyes are green. orange and purple are my colors of choice.

Tell more! What is it doing that is magical???

well it comes out of the tube white and feels like it has little beads in it but when you put it on your face it somehow transforms to a perfect foundation. Perfect in color, coverage, lightness. It seems to blend itself. It doesn't look like heavy makeup at all but all imperfections just disappear. so freakin' crazy!

seriously
it took me a while to figure this stuff out but while taking selfies of me and my dog i realized my skin looked waaaay better than normal - it def does some blurring shit. but it also doesn't really look like there's anything on your skin, unlike foundation. probably useless for covering up serious scarring or blemishes, but i have really splotchy uneven large-freckled skin from excessive sun damage in my childhood, also a lot of broken capillaries across my cheeks, and this stuff evens it all out. and the color matching thing really is magical, which is a nice change from annoying foundation colors. oh and it def seems to brighten my skin quite a bit.
― just1n3, Monday, 28 April 2014 05:31 (twelve years ago)
ditto exactly. i smeared some on once just bc i didnt have sunscreen handy, for its SPF, and so many people complimented my skin that day. all i had on was BB cream! i realized that it was doing something even if i didnt understand exactly what

So I bought some "nude" lipstick yesterday, for some reason and 1) that was the wrong shade, I am pretty sure; and 2) how does a normal mortal human wear a nude lipstick and not look bizarre? Is that even possible?
I was prompted to by it because a local news anchor was wearing a nude lipstick and she looked amazing, and I am really cool and cutting edge and learn about make up trends from the local news personnel.
― carl agatha, Monday, 28 April 2014 16:55 (twelve years ago)
nude as in Caucasian skin-colour or as in lip-colour?
― kinder, Monday, 28 April 2014 17:11 (twelve years ago)
Skin color. Im white but the lipsticks came in a decent range of shades.
I'm good at matching my lip color. Just not the rest of my face.
― carl agatha, Monday, 28 April 2014 17:25 (twelve years ago)
The news anchor was a light skinned black woman. Her lipstick didn't match her face exactly but it was definitely what someone would call a "nude lip."
― carl agatha, Monday, 28 April 2014 17:26 (twelve years ago)
i've tried the nude lip and every time i've wound up looking like a corpse or a mannequini don't mind weird looks, but it was unflattering. i figure maybe it only works if one has beautifully shaped lips, which i do not. lately i have been into my gold eyeliner - it's pearly but not glittery
― Mayor Manuel (La Lechera), Monday, 28 April 2014 17:37 (twelve years ago)
I like the shape of my lips, but their actual color comes through around the inner and outer edges of the lipstick. It just looks really wrong.
― carl agatha, Monday, 28 April 2014 17:54 (twelve years ago)
you have nicely shaped lips, i agree -- maybe they're just too rosy for the nude look!
― Mayor Manuel (La Lechera), Monday, 28 April 2014 17:58 (twelve years ago)
I have a hunch "nude" lip color isn't supposed to actually match your skin OR your natural lip colors...it's probably supposed to mimic something ineffable, like the light hitting moist lip skin in a certain way. I don't know, I just use sticky gloss and call it done.
There's probably also a "best" way to do the rest of your face to go with that nude lip, I'm guessing.
― Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 28 April 2014 18:05 (twelve years ago)
I think you're right about the ineffable goal of the nude lip. Oh well $7.99 down the drain.
― carl agatha, Monday, 28 April 2014 18:39 (twelve years ago)
since you're fair you might be better with a rose or peach shade on yr lips to give the same 'nude' effect but matching yr tones a bit more
i can def see how a beigey lip is gonna be kinda weird to pull off
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 28 April 2014 18:43 (twelve years ago)
Yeah I just looked at what I bought and it would be okay as concealer LOL.
― carl agatha, Monday, 28 April 2014 18:47 (twelve years ago)
yeah i'm never sure if nude lip means a beige-y shade or going with a color that is close to your natural lip color. i've seen models and makeup artists rocking the beige lip, but i can't imagine in a million years that it would look remotely ok on my lips. also: i think it only works with a face full of perfect makeup - it's not really a minimal-makeup look.
― just1n3, Monday, 28 April 2014 19:42 (twelve years ago)
I used to put foundation on my lips at the edges (don't try this at home, it looked terrible, obviously) because I thought it made my face look less square and more oval. Maybe I could achieve that with nude lipstick. Maybe not. Wearing any other lipstick makes my naso-whateverthey're called lines look terrible and my eye circles look bad.
― ljubljana, Monday, 28 April 2014 22:11 (twelve years ago)
i like a nude lip with a priscilla presley eye
― homosexual II, Monday, 28 April 2014 23:01 (twelve years ago)
Me too. My nude lipstick is taupe-ish and very matte. It's really close to my natural lip color tbh
― 1 P.3. Eternal (roxymuzak), Monday, 28 April 2014 23:49 (twelve years ago)
yeah a big fancy eye is so awesome with nude lip
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 02:53 (twelve years ago)
My lips are pretty pink so anything like beige or flesh colored makes me look dead.
CAn you guys link to the BB cream? Thanks!

yeah i think that's it. i got fair, and i'm pretty pale. it looks like you're oompaloompa when you first put it on though, so don't freak out.
― just1n3, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:12 (twelve years ago)
i like TheBalm bronzer, blush and luminizer, but i picked up a stainiac lip/cheek stain in 'beauty queen' and it's not that good. the color is really pretty and close to my natural lip color but it has zero staining power, even doing two coats and dusting in btw with translucent powder. the worst part is that i paid full price at their store in SF but could've gotten it for half price on amazon :[
― just1n3, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:14 (twelve years ago)
I caved and bought that BB cream yesterday. I have it on today but haven't looked in the mirror all day!
― ljubljana, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:40 (twelve years ago)
I bought it too, just for kicks. I like the cc cream I'm already using but it cost $50 smackers so kinda curious if this could do something similar. if not, no biggie.
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 01:51 (twelve years ago)
i was so stoked with it i thought about investigating a higher-end bb cream like bobbi brown, but the reality is that i hardly ever actually put on a full face of makeup, so it's probably an extravagance i can live without it.
― just1n3, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 03:40 (twelve years ago)
i'm curious about this Loreal BB cream! I've been using the Aveda tinted moisturizer and it's so nice! (i use moisturizer underneath it though because my skin is too dry for the Aveda alone). The main things about it are: it doesn't look like make-up, and, more importantly, it doesn't make my skin itch or break out in cystic pimples - win! And not tested on animals. (I have fears about what might be in the Loreal BB cream and how my skin might hate it...)
I have a Clinique chubby stick lipstick/balm thing in a neutral/"nude" colour that I really like - it's almost the colour of my lips, but not?
Those bright eye shadow palettes are intriguing to me! all i have is browns and blacks and greys. and don't even use them that often, haha. i did get a new eyeshadow brush that i've discovered is really great for smudging eyeliner into smokey-eye drama.
oh i also got a new blush that looks too orange in the container but is nice and sun-kissed on. summer on my face, now, i say. and in general, the natural colour is coming back into my face after first-trimester constant nausea and anemia. the second trimester seems to be less brutal (if not totally without barfiness) - at least i don't look ashen and in thus in desperate need of blush and foundation! i can go without now and pass for healthy if not "glowing," haha.
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Friday, 2 May 2014 02:46 (twelve years ago)
Loreal BB cream feels nice & is v easy to apply but it doesn't give me enough coverage...with my rosacea i kindda knew it wouldnt anyway, so no loss. Worth a try! But I also think it made my cheeks redder so def no go:/
oh well!

Big ups to ENBB for pointing me towards the Dior Addict Lip Glow. I'd totally recommend to anyone looking for nude lipstick.

I'm a bit out of touch (as usual), but is there any difference between BB cream and tinted moisturizer? Any at all?
I've been using Blistex's Lip Vibrance as lip stuff--it's not too light and has more red in it than most naturals.

hi christine!!!
― just1n3, Saturday, 3 May 2014 04:58 (twelve years ago)
afaik the major difference is that bb cream has a primer? idk i haven't used tinted moisturizer in 20 years and it was not good when i did.

Christine!

Hello Christine!
I like the L'Oreal BB cream just as much as my Prescriptives light foundation, but no 'boom, wow!' effect.

― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Wednesday, 25 June 2014 15:06 (eleven years ago)
Oh, well Wordpress would allow tags & search and customization in a way I think blogspot doesn't? But it needs to be installed on a web domain (="hosted"), not on free sites. Maybe once it gets busier!
