sweat pea (La Lechera), Monday, 2 December 2013 18:41 (twelve years ago)

sweat pea (La Lechera), Monday, 2 December 2013 18:41 (twelve years ago)

They're well-proportioned, they're simple and not showy, the heel is perfect...so great!

But then again I don't know what's happening to me because I really want these:

http://a1.zassets.com/images/z/2/3/0/8/9/0/2308903-p-MULTIVIEW.jpg

Should I buy them if I don't know whether my unemployment will be cut off at the end of December even though I have another 2 months allowed?

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 13 December 2013 15:26 (twelve years ago)

Shit.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 13 December 2013 15:26 (twelve years ago)

i didn't buy the boots i wanted
(yet)

mambo jumbo (La Lechera), Friday, 13 December 2013 15:29 (twelve years ago)

Welp, I just confirmed that my unemployment will be cut off as of end Dec thanks to the lack of legislation to continue supporting it. No winter boots for me.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 13 December 2013 15:44 (twelve years ago)

Let's hope for not too much snow this year, shall we?

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 13 December 2013 15:45 (twelve years ago)

Someone will hire me to do something, eventually, won't they? I'm talented and I have a lot of experience at things. And I really want those boots.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 13 December 2013 21:49 (twelve years ago)

absolutely for sure 100%
but if you need boots in the meantime, the ones i got at target have been ok for a couple of years. not sure why or how, but they're just fine after 1.5 chicago winters. nothing special, but cheap boot technology has improved a lot since the last time i bought some.

"WILL WORK FOR BOOTS"

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 13 December 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)

I ordered them. Fuck it. I haven't owned winter boots since...never in my adult life. I bought some hiking boots in college but never replaced them once they went, and I've just been pulling up my wool socks ever since.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 13 December 2013 22:11 (twelve years ago)

Those are beautiful. I've had my eye on similar - hadn't seen those particular ones.

ljubljana, Tuesday, 17 December 2013 10:29 (twelve years ago)

And you've been working your ass off and will be hired.

ljubljana, Tuesday, 17 December 2013 10:29 (twelve years ago)

Well 2013 was the year of rounding out my shoe wardrobe with the functional things I don't usually own. Sensible flat oxfords (with spikes, naturally), then SNEAKERS (god love me), now rain boots (albeit with a little heel). Short of nuclear winter, I feel ready for whatever comes.

i'm ready to drop some $$$$ on some nice boots, probably frye, but i'm feeling a bit wary of the leather soles: i'm tough on my shoes, and these would be an everyday boot, wondering how often i'd have to resole them and how expensive that typically is.

just1n3, Monday, 6 January 2014 00:08 (twelve years ago)

ooh those are really nice
I need some flat ankle boots and have done for the past two years. I have some cheap crappy quality ones as placeholders until I find my dream ones but I'm wearing them all the time and wondering if I should buy a backup pair for when they inevitably break!

kinder, Monday, 6 January 2014 00:10 (twelve years ago)

yeah i have a great pair of dark brown ones from miz mooz that i've worn pretty much nonstop this fall/winter, and they're super comfy, rugged but not bulky. i've been looking for a black pair to alternate them with. i really like that shaft height a lot, it works perfectly on my short legs.

just1n3, Monday, 6 January 2014 00:13 (twelve years ago)

Re leather soles: Before you wear them, take them to the shoe place and have them apply a grooved rubber layer. Less slippery, wears better, can be easily taken off and replaced.

Horreur! What are this disassociated lumps of (in orbit), Monday, 6 January 2014 14:18 (twelve years ago)

excellent idea!!

just1n3, Monday, 6 January 2014 17:33 (twelve years ago)

I wore my Frye's with leather soles pretty lightly for 2 seasons and then really hard for another season. Now they need resoled.

the first ones are cool!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 19:54 (twelve years ago)

i should hope sandals would be pedestrian

ya the first ones also have a zipper in the back; I am pretty sure those are the ones I am keeping.

one month passes...

OK guys I am ISO a certain kind of Clarks that I don't think they make anymore (I went through the entire clarks site) or else I want to find a similar shoe.

They were brown soft-leather casual shoes, I guess you'd call them oxfords. They had a rounded toe and a visible rounded seam on top following the contours of the toe piece, if that makes sense. People used to say they were "old man shoes" or "sensible shoes." Anyway I really liked them and I can't find a similar shoe. This would have been around 2000 or so.

james franco tur(oll)ing test (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 March 2014 04:26 (twelve years ago)

actually the style was vaguely like this
http://www.orthoticshop.com/images/D/yhst-58036391854343_2054_671.

but less clunky/boxy looking

james franco tur(oll)ing test (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 March 2014 04:29 (twelve years ago)

these?

just1n3, Thursday, 6 March 2014 04:46 (twelve years ago)

Not quite. But that's the right idea. I don't think it had the Clark's logo on it.

its so weird seeing it not spelled Timbaland

phil-two, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 07:52 (twelve years ago)

I'm all about resoling shoes lately. The brown shoes I bought back in July got pretty worn because I wore them like every other day for eight months in the city, but a new sole and a little polish and they look like a new pair for less than half what I paid for the shoes.

james franco tur(oll)ing test (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 14:11 (twelve years ago)

do you have leather soles replaced, or do you have rubber applied? or both?

chinavision!, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 14:24 (twelve years ago)

On these shoes I actually forgot to ask and they just put leather soles on them. I would have preferred a little thin rubber on the bottom of thhe leather, because they're a little slick now. I like it when they do the thin rubber over just a section of the leather so you get the traction without making the sole look too bad.

james franco tur(oll)ing test (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 14:35 (twelve years ago)

I eBayed shoes recently that prob either need a resole or rubber layer. Guess I'll prob do rubber since I do so much walking? Won't be beautiful but...
