oh yeah

乒乓, Sunday, 20 October 2013 13:38 (twelve years ago)

my sweaters are all really boring--gray, maroon, navy wool. i think i need something in light brown or oatmeal or one of those colors.

― call all destroyer, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 2:50 PM (5 days ago)

if you're worried about boring then try less neutral colors? i mean oatmeal & lt brown aren't exactly thrilling additions to your color palette, be real

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Sunday, 20 October 2013 18:03 (twelve years ago)

I love that burgundy statement jumper!

boxedjoy, Sunday, 20 October 2013 18:57 (twelve years ago)

xp oh i didnt really mean boring in a pejorative way! mostly i'm good w/solid sweaters in complimentary colors.

call all destroyer, Monday, 21 October 2013 00:44 (twelve years ago)

what winter jumpers are you all wearing?

If you can find Vince sweaters priced well at Nordstrom Rack, Marshall's, etc., they're terrific. Pricey at full price, but I've gotten mine for $50-ish.

so my takeaway is that this is an elaborate scheme on behalf of Arden Reed to take Yalie dick pics

Bitch Fantastic (DJP), Tuesday, 22 October 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

wouldn't be the first time that that has happened

Does anyone else have to plan ahead for uniqlo visits to make sure they're not wearing the 80% of yr wardrobe you bought at uniqlo?

caek, Friday, 1 November 2013 21:38 (twelve years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Friday, 1 November 2013 21:43 (twelve years ago)

I have like 8 uniqlo shirts and 2 uniqlo shopping shirts

caek, Friday, 1 November 2013 21:44 (twelve years ago)

i dont own that much uniqlo aside from my extensive underwear and sock collection but i did realize i was wearing a uniqlo jacket over a uniqlo sweater the other day and stopped to wonder how that made me feel

lag∞n, Friday, 1 November 2013 21:47 (twelve years ago)

definitely not unique--low? ;-)

max, Saturday, 2 November 2013 00:33 (twelve years ago)

i used to have that issue but not so much anymore, i was just thinking the other day how each item was from a diff brand and this made me happy.

what bags do you all use? been looking for a good day-to-day bag for ages, feels like something worth spending a bit on as you can have it for years, but the options don't seem great.

filson ones seem decent but they are a pricey meatball - http://www.filson.com/products/twill-and-tweed-original-briefcase.70066.html?fromCat=true&fvalsProduct=luggage/briefcases-and-laptop-bags&fmetaProduct=1019

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 November 2013 12:54 (twelve years ago)

hate fun but i'd happily wear that twice a year

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 November 2013 12:58 (twelve years ago)

what does the fox say?

乒乓, Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:00 (twelve years ago)

yeah that's kind of my feeling. i think it has something that makes it not just "lol@yourjumper" - sort of weird as well as lol.

looks less assuming (not sure if that's better?) in these pix

yeah i think ur right, it's perversely just boring enough but also idk maybe kinda verging on ralph laurenish faux-country prep humour too? not capital-f fun in other words

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:05 (twelve years ago)

quality doesn't look as nice in those pics. i guess it isn't wildly expensive.

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:06 (twelve years ago)

i do feel a little like menswear arsene wenger talking to u guys sometimes tbh, like you can really do a lot with 80 quid second hand! not overnight granted but still

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:16 (twelve years ago)

do you use ebay? or actual shops? i always mean to find out what second-hand shops are good in london, cos all the east end ones are shit.

have picked up a few good blazers on ebay, got a kenzo one for 60 quid earlier this year.

also just got this, earlier this weel: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321209485389

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:19 (twelve years ago)

ebay mostly... i've lost track with actual shops (esp since old hat closed down) but london prices have rarely been forgiving anyway. kinda miss the house clearance shop in my ex's home town more than i do her tbh :/

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:24 (twelve years ago)

ah i didn't know that it closed, old hat was one of the few good ones. only made the pilgrimage over there once, tho i work in hammersmith these days and often thought i should go back.

ebay is a bit of a trawl but i feel like i'm getting better at digging on it.

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:28 (twelve years ago)

must say i've only heard it closed rather than checked myself (i too rarely had any reason to be round there although the bookshop down from putney bridge station was really good and cheap and there's that ale pub down the alley). possibly they might be appointment only now or something idk

ebay is def a dispiritingly uphill schlep to begin with but you certainly do get what you put in. (bags you were asking about yesterday are a particularly rich seam i'd suggest btw)

r|t|c, Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:47 (twelve years ago)

lovin those quoddys fwiw folks

meant to ask, any weirdness with the size on these? or did you just get your normal size and were good?

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 November 2013 13:59 (twelve years ago)

normal size, leather is quite supple and also sumptuous so theyll def stretch 2 fit too

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 November 2013 15:15 (twelve years ago)

supple andsumptuous!

call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 November 2013 15:24 (twelve years ago)

lag∞n, Sunday, 3 November 2013 15:26 (twelve years ago)

got a tweed jacket thrifting in philly this weekend. fits pretty well, but still gonna get it tailored this week sometime.

HOOS it because...of steen???? (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Monday, 4 November 2013 16:15 (twelve years ago)

I have a buffalo sweater, like with a giant buffalo in the middle of it, that I got from my grandfather. It's a pretty nice sweater, but it's exactly the kind of thing you want to wear once in a while to a party, like a few times a year. I also have a v-neck sweater/sweatshirt with this sort of duck-hunting landscape across the shoulders and chest, same idea.

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Monday, 4 November 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)

I almost like that fox sweater. Something about the leaves bothers me.

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Monday, 4 November 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)

still haven't had a chance to wear the tie in the opening post :/

call all destroyer, Monday, 4 November 2013 21:02 (twelve years ago)

the leaves kind of make it for me, and the jaunty way the fox is walking.

Legitimate space tale (LocalGarda), Monday, 4 November 2013 22:58 (twelve years ago)

three weeks pass...

uniqlo lambswool sweaters are $20 and pill like crazy on my belly after 3 wears. i guess i rub my belly a lot. should i:

1) buy one of those absurd sweater shavers
2) just buy loads of uniqlo lambswool sweaters
3) buy a new fancy shetland sweater that allegedly doesn't pill via longer threads
4) thrift store urrrrgh

caek, Monday, 25 November 2013 22:37 (twelve years ago)

if you have an electric razor and are careful you can just trim the sweater w/ that ime

ok (Lamp), Monday, 25 November 2013 22:38 (twelve years ago)

the electric shaver things but for heads work well

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 22:48 (twelve years ago)

5) learn to love the pill

乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 22:48 (twelve years ago)

yah by 'electric razor' i too meant the thing for heads which isn't really a 'razor' idk i was confused

ok (Lamp), Monday, 25 November 2013 22:50 (twelve years ago)

otm then

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 22:52 (twelve years ago)

clippers

caek, Monday, 25 November 2013 23:03 (twelve years ago)

i just gave my sweater a #1

caek, Monday, 25 November 2013 23:03 (twelve years ago)

it looks exactly like my head now!

caek, Monday, 25 November 2013 23:03 (twelve years ago)
