i have to say, after years of make-up counter people wanting to put dark brown eyebrow pencil on me and me so not being into that, this soft-brunette laura mercier eyebrow pencil i bought a couple of weeks ago has changed my life in a highly satisfying if minor way
― obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 25 September 2013 18:15 (twelve years ago)
Oh rrrobyn I have missed you! I mean maybe you weren't gone from ilx, but it seemed like it to me.
Laura Mercier has been working some kind of brand magic on me. It's all just so. . . tasteful.
― quincie, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 19:39 (twelve years ago)
Filling in my eyebrows changed my life.
― homosexual II, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)
yes! Eyebrows are the true windows to the soul.
I have surely spoken about Keira Knightley in The Duchess and her fabulous amazing eyebrows? I saw that movie and had an eyebrow revelation, bought some Anatasia of Beverly Hills brow powder and never looked back.
― carl agatha, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 21:29 (twelve years ago)
I will go out with no makeup without thinking twice, except for my brows which I almost always put a little pencil/powder on.
― carl agatha, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 21:30 (twelve years ago)
YUPonly discovered powder a year or so ago, it's effortless and great
― kinder, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 21:38 (twelve years ago)
Brows are now my #1; can't leave the house without them done.

Finally bought Lineur Intense brush version in brown when recently in the US (couldn't find it here). Love it, but now need serious tutoring on liquid liner. Searched this thread, found many tutorials linked and am gonna try a different one every day. Well, on days I'm not running out the door.
― ljubljana, Sunday, 6 October 2013 21:03 (twelve years ago)
1. I don't have lineur intense, I have something called Infallible2. I don't know how far into the inner corner of my eye to start3. Q-tip technique, which I had high hopes for, did not work. Maybe it doesn't work on gel liner, which is what mine is?4. Hand-resting-on-cheek very counterintuitive! Sort of made it work but liner ended up too far above lashline and I had to go along and fill it in with dots.
― ljubljana, Monday, 7 October 2013 12:40 (twelve years ago)
My faaaaavorite!
xp Oh. Is that one like a pen?
― Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Monday, 7 October 2013 13:03 (twelve years ago)
One thing the brush tip makes you do is always hold the wand straight in relation to the line you're drawing. It's not a pencil--you can't push it, or hold it perpendicular to the surface and make a good line.
― Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Monday, 7 October 2013 13:06 (twelve years ago)
It's a practice thing, ime. Just keep at it and you will get the hang of it (and may never go back--I find liquid liner so much easier than pencil!).
― quincie, Monday, 7 October 2013 15:43 (twelve years ago)
orbit, it's a brush and gel pot, not the pen one. I love the v v dark brown colour, but not so keen on the 'bitty' texture of the gel. I think I was holding it perpendicular - maybe that's why I couldn't rest my wrist on my face comfortably? Will try again tomorrow...
― ljubljana, Monday, 7 October 2013 16:16 (twelve years ago)
I am still hopeless at making a straight/even line, but I have an easier time with the pen than I do with the gel. The gel on the brush clings to my eye skin and kind of drags it along. I think a clean black cat eye eyeliner is a young woman's game.
― carl agatha, Monday, 7 October 2013 17:11 (twelve years ago)
Or a game for an older woman with firmer eye skin.
Liquid, most definitely.
Lemme share a pro tip with you: grab some eye shadow of the very colour of your eyeliner, sweep it gently at the top edge of the eyeliner line and gently blur the first with a very slender brush. Works out every time (kind of a scientific fact). You´re welcome.

Watching cheap tv like Lost Girl and Nikita (omg Lost Girl <3 <3 <3) makes me crave the biggest, smokiest eyes. One day I need to learn how to do those giant panda bruises.
― Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 11 October 2013 12:48 (twelve years ago)
Ok so I got Eight Hour Cream cheap after reading about how great it was in every beauty magazine since I was 11 and feeling like I had to try it.
Omg. My skin is now so fucking soft & smooth! Would definitely buy again.
― gyac, Friday, 11 October 2013 14:13 (twelve years ago)
is that more of a night cream or day cream?
― 1 P.3. Eternal (roxymuzak), Friday, 11 October 2013 16:39 (twelve years ago)
You . . . you use it as a moisturizer? That shit's like vasoline! I know it's great for elbows and rough patches and lips and (weirdly) sunburn but I can't imagine putting it on my face ever.
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 18:24 (twelve years ago)
explain application pls gyac

I am gonna start up the blog again soon maybe if you ladies are still interested? I thought I had an email chain a bunch of us were all on but I can't find it dammit. Anyway, I am bored so I figured I'd tell you guys about some things I've been liking recently.
EOS Lip Balms- forever. I just some awesome flavors of handmade balm off etsy but nothing beats the texture of EOS imo. I just wish they'd make more flavors. Narciso Rodriguez For Her- Bought the roller ball of it recently and was reminded why it's my all-time fave perfume. So good! Loreal Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain- (in Rose On and On) - I don't know what this stuff is but it's kind of magical. It's a gloss and a stain in one and I love everything about it.Voluminous Waterproof Mascara - Stupidly tried some other stuff again only to be disappointed. Voluminous is hands down the best mascara for volume. Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil(in Dragon Girl) This is the best red ever but I still haven't work it out of the house yet because it's so bright and I'm only used to wearing neutral colors on my mouth but I really really love it and one day I will leave the house wearing it. Maybe. NYX eyeshadow singles(in Taupe - 4th from right on the top)The perfect neutral eye shadow imo. If I'm wearing eyeshadow I'd say that 9 out of 10 days it's probably this one.
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:15 (twelve years ago)
Oh and here is me in the NARS lip pencil for ref: http://web.stagram.com/p/539344548344876915_25922290

Ooo a new lip stain...
I want to see the pic but it says "Failed to load data. Please reload the page. Or this photo is already deleted.""
― carl agatha, Friday, 11 October 2013 19:23 (twelve years ago)
Huh! It's working for me. Here's the direct link: http://www.drugstore.com/loreal-colour-riche-caresse-wet-shine-stain-rose-on-and-on-184-rose/qxp461751?aid=333840&aparam=TnL5HPStwNw-H4QT.L02ngw_tNWCcZKrtQ
They're basically glosses that leave a stain behind. Very strange but neat at the same time.
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:24 (twelve years ago)
No I want to see the picture of you with in the lip pencil! Sorry, I am little scattered today.
― carl agatha, Friday, 11 October 2013 19:26 (twelve years ago)
life is too short to not leave the house however the fuck you want to leave the house.wear it!
― Untt (La Lechera), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:28 (twelve years ago)
Ahh! I would host it but I can't at work. If I remember I'll do it later. :)
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:29 (twelve years ago)
fyi the skin care obsessives at makeupalley are all over vaseline as a facial moisturizer these days! It's, like, some sort of extension of the oil-cleansing craze, I think.
― quincie, Friday, 11 October 2013 19:30 (twelve years ago)
it kind of makes sense if you have skin that doesnt really break out much
― No more kisses (sunny successor), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:31 (twelve years ago)
I guess it does it just seems so ahhh idk. I have dry skin and don't break out all that much normally and the idea of it just freaks me out a little. It's interesting though for sure.
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:33 (twelve years ago)
i use it around my eyes when when im dying my eyelashes. it doesnt feel as offensive as you would think
― No more kisses (sunny successor), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:35 (twelve years ago)
multiple xps - I use it once a week max on my face. My face tends towards oiliness with dry patches so it helps to smooth things out. I was already using Clarins oil on my face before I tried this. I use a thin coating, a little goes far.
― gyac, Friday, 11 October 2013 19:42 (twelve years ago)
interesting!
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:47 (twelve years ago)
i finally got on the bb cream bandwagon
― 1 P.3. Eternal (roxymuzak), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:43 (twelve years ago)
What kind are you using lady?
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:47 (twelve years ago)
just cheapo maybelline, the 8-in-1 stuff. it works really well tho! i'd like to try a fancier one and see if it works even better for me. ppl compliment my skin all the time when im wearing just this stuff.
― 1 P.3. Eternal (roxymuzak), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:52 (twelve years ago)
I got some samples of Philosophy Hope in a Jar and also this 'retexturising night cream'.HIAJ is a good light moisturiser for if you're greasy like me but the smell is pretty grim. The night cream stuff - never have I ever felt anything so heavy on my face! Also it made me break out in a really 'blocked pore' way. Maybe I used too much, idk, or maybe it's for a more senior lady.
― kinder, Friday, 11 October 2013 21:03 (twelve years ago)
If someone could hand me the right shade BB cream I'd be on it like a shot but it seems like another chore to find a good one. I like the samples I've tried even if they're the wrong shades.
i just discovered smashbox CC cream. its amazing.
― No more kisses (sunny successor), Friday, 11 October 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)
Oooh I finished my tube of Smashbox Camera Ready and scooped the last of it out with a Q-tip yesterday, but I must say, it worked really well.
― Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 11 October 2013 21:57 (twelve years ago)
i can't imagine wearing vaseline on my face. wtf
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 12 October 2013 01:46 (twelve years ago)
(many xposts)
not apropos of anything but I will go to the mat for Smashbox Eyelid primer. that shit WORKS. I have the greasiest greasepit eyelids and eyeshadow's usually long gone by lunchtime but my shit stays put all day, it's like magic! only downside is it's a bit chemical-feeling since my skin's kinda sensitive. has a very mild tingle to it which is a bit unsettling. I dunno that I'd wear it every day. I try to keep it for special going out occasions
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 12 October 2013 01:49 (twelve years ago)
I randomly bought a $4 wet and wild eye primer by Fergie (lol) and I like it better than the urban decay one!
― Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Saturday, 12 October 2013 02:17 (twelve years ago)
(also this is that lipstick I mentioned upthread: http://tinypic.com/r/xqhnye/5)

I've said this before but I adore it
