you're supposed to cuff them so everybody knows you only wear raw selvedge denim from a factory in oklahoma

乒乓, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:03 (twelve years ago)

it was literally impossible to cuff that much fabric, believe me i tried.

grow more leg

乒乓, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:05 (twelve years ago)

for real tho, hemming denim is fine I guess but it needs to be stitched v strongly, ideally with a chain stitch machine, your basic blind trouser hem is gonna look real weird on denim

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:10 (twelve years ago)

as someone who has had a lot of jeans hemmed in his day they just do it the same way as the original hem its not a big deal its fine

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:12 (twelve years ago)

yeah all the tailors i've had hem my jeans just do it the same way that it's done at the factory afaict, none of the hems have gone unhemmed (unlike some slack hems i've had done)

乒乓, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:13 (twelve years ago)

not something i've done tbh, i don't wear jeans that often, when i do they're 501s and i can usually find the right length

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 14:23 (twelve years ago)

wearing shorts today and it feels fabulous

乒乓, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 17:35 (twelve years ago)

teaching today and wearing a sports jacket ;_;

caek, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 17:36 (twelve years ago)

Currently trying to find a pair of shoes that are a) smart enough for business, b) tough enough for winter in Russia and c) vegan-friendly. Not easy. Dr. Martens are the closest I've got but aren't ideal.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:43 (twelve years ago)

jfc $300 for vegan shoes?

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:52 (twelve years ago)

that must be some high-grade TVP they are made out of hoo-wee

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:52 (twelve years ago)

looks like they have a few other vegan boot & shoe styles but i'd definitely incline towards a dressier boot rather than a sturdier shoe, ya know?

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:53 (twelve years ago)

thats not a bad lookin boot there, maybe slightly fussy, but not too shabby

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:57 (twelve years ago)

i dig it

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:01 (twelve years ago)

an expensive pair of leather shoes can last 20 years but if you're strict you're strict. some links here:

caek, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:07 (twelve years ago)

boots usually the sole is too chunky: a complaint

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:08 (twelve years ago)

also fatty contrasting stitching is a thing im not that into thats on many boots

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:09 (twelve years ago)

wait so i understand that some vegans don't like leather but there are ppl who have moral objections to WOOL?

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:10 (twelve years ago)

i mean if that's your thing, ok but dang

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:10 (twelve years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:12 (twelve years ago)

I guess it depends on the conditions in which the sheep are raised?

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 22:59 (twelve years ago)

I figured that but it's the thought that counts.

his LIPS !!! (darraghmac), Thursday, 12 September 2013 03:43 (twelve years ago)

I think lagoon mentioned upthread Steven Alan suits -- anyone have any experience with them? There's one on pretty good sale now that I'm thinking about just pulling the trigger and ordering online -- something I normally never do with a suit. It's a Fenton suit, if that matters.

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 September 2013 22:21 (twelve years ago)

i have a suit and a jacket from them that i like but they dont get like nearly daily wear so i cant really comment as to the durability, their clothes are def v handsome looking tho

lag∞n, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:24 (twelve years ago)

show us the suit

lag∞n, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:24 (twelve years ago)

would come to like $300, please try to ignore the douche in the photo

I'm a little unsure about the slanty pockets, worry that they make it look kind of casual

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 September 2013 22:26 (twelve years ago)

OTOH the plaid shirt and winter cap are probably throwing me off on that count

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 September 2013 22:26 (twelve years ago)

I don't need to wear it every day either fwiw. I probably wear suits like 15-20 days out of the year.

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 September 2013 22:27 (twelve years ago)

its p nice i worry maybe that youre going to end up regretting those skinny pants tho

lag∞n, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:28 (twelve years ago)

lmao that photo

call all destroyer, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:28 (twelve years ago)

i'm not a big fan of the pockets either, but as long as it's returnable there's no harm in giving it a shot

call all destroyer, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:29 (twelve years ago)

not returnable, unfortunately. I'm not sure the pants are really so skinny either, I think the dude in the photo is wearing it a little small

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 September 2013 22:31 (twelve years ago)

the pants look normal to me

my only concern would be the shade of gray is a tad light

but for $300 seems like you cant go wrong

乒乓, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:32 (twelve years ago)

yeah in the photo of the pants by themselves the cut looks pretty normal

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 September 2013 22:35 (twelve years ago)

fit's essential, and Steven Alan's web store can be a little light with the info, so i'd be careful since it's not returnable. images can be a little misleading by themselves.

Spectrum, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:37 (twelve years ago)

need really good navy chinos. suggestions?

the late great, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:39 (twelve years ago)

look at the leg opening on those pants they r v skinny at least at the bottom

lag∞n, Friday, 13 September 2013 22:43 (twelve years ago)

tbh i would not risk $300 on an unreturnable internet suit

call all destroyer, Saturday, 14 September 2013 02:18 (twelve years ago)

hurting just goto the store and try it on, you can find where its in stock on the site

lag∞n, Saturday, 14 September 2013 02:35 (twelve years ago)

oh word, tyty

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Saturday, 14 September 2013 03:14 (twelve years ago)

wait you sure? I can't figure out how

#fomo that's the motto (Hurting 2), Saturday, 14 September 2013 03:17 (twelve years ago)

you can call the Steven Alan stores to see if they have the size you want in stock; if not, email the e-com people for measurements. if none of that works, you're SOL unless you want to gamble $300 on it fitting or not
