xpost like to me it is p inconvenient for a 20 quid pair of trousers. if they make 32 leg i'll prob just roll it a little, but 34 is just messy.

asos tends to do more comprehensive range of lengths off the peg, recently realised this and it makes me buy a lot more, 31-inch leg fits so well.

uniqlo is the only place i know that does the hemming. never had it done in the UK, and it's stupid, but it does works fine. i don't think they have a rush service, but they charge more for a different kind of hem (the hem you need on jeans maybe?) i like their "vintage" chino.

also like their oxfords, socks, plain linen shirts, and cotton/linen madrases. quite often i will have to wear clothes i don't particularly like because i don't want to go there dressed in all uniqlo.

never bought any of their knitwear (except a scarf once). any thoughts on that?

when i say "charge more for jean hem" i mean "more than zero". they don't charge at all for the standard one.

it's the dress slack hem that requires more skill

knitwear feels a little cheap I think. gets pilly fast.

if yr jeans are too long you just need to grow more leg, end of story

i'm gonna need some more background on this rule that you can't shorten jeans. the 3 sixteens i bought over the summer had like a 38" inseam.

you're supposed to cuff them so everybody knows you only wear raw selvedge denim from a factory in oklahoma

it was literally impossible to cuff that much fabric, believe me i tried.

for real tho, hemming denim is fine I guess but it needs to be stitched v strongly, ideally with a chain stitch machine, your basic blind trouser hem is gonna look real weird on denim

as someone who has had a lot of jeans hemmed in his day they just do it the same way as the original hem its not a big deal its fine

yeah all the tailors i've had hem my jeans just do it the same way that it's done at the factory afaict, none of the hems have gone unhemmed (unlike some slack hems i've had done)

not something i've done tbh, i don't wear jeans that often, when i do they're 501s and i can usually find the right length

Currently trying to find a pair of shoes that are a) smart enough for business, b) tough enough for winter in Russia and c) vegan-friendly. Not easy. Dr. Martens are the closest I've got but aren't ideal.

looks like they have a few other vegan boot & shoe styles but i'd definitely incline towards a dressier boot rather than a sturdier shoe, ya know?

I think lagoon mentioned upthread Steven Alan suits -- anyone have any experience with them? There's one on pretty good sale now that I'm thinking about just pulling the trigger and ordering online -- something I normally never do with a suit. It's a Fenton suit, if that matters.

i have a suit and a jacket from them that i like but they dont get like nearly daily wear so i cant really comment as to the durability, their clothes are def v handsome looking tho

I'm a little unsure about the slanty pockets, worry that they make it look kind of casual

OTOH the plaid shirt and winter cap are probably throwing me off on that count

I don't need to wear it every day either fwiw. I probably wear suits like 15-20 days out of the year.
