i am reading some trend pieces and wow

did you guys realize that apparently camouflage is gonna be one of the major trends for fall

also military inspired things

I have the same instinctive bias against Barbour, also RL/Gant/etc - not that e.g. APC is unamenable to a similar analysis, the baggage there is just quite distant from my experience. xps

yeah i *think* i get the class thing but basically i just wanted a jacket that i would own for 20 years that was not made of gross swishy nylon.

btw according to j. crew's fall looks the camo is in for ladies too.

if you don't *feel* the class thing it's not something you should care about imo

Otm and I do have friends I feel can pull this off. I have one friend who can even make red trousers work but he's clearly opened them since lower 6th at Winchester.

Yeah for me it's about not wanting to feel my clothes are imposing an identity on myself that I'm not happy with. With some items/brands I can't shake the associations I have. I have two pairs of red trousers though.

Camo has been back for a few seasons now I notice, lol, sentences I thought I'd never say.

Still just makes me think of DJs, tho the odd more abstract camo print or accessory has almost tempted me.

On the barbour thing, definitely ubiquitous in east London but there are a lot of styles. I basically find that on a day when I'm not dressing more formally with mac or pea coat, they are really nice casual jackets.

true, though some things have longevity. shoes in particular but some formal wear too.

i have a tshirt that says bermuda in sweet embroidering that i found in a free box 15 years ago but besides that i dont think theres much in my wardrobe that gets any sort of regular play that ive had for more than like five years

all points granted but i am talking about a fall jacket and i live in new england so i feel like that is something i should not really plan on needing to rebuy to respond to changing styles or w/e.
