your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:25 (twelve years ago)

i hate camo
you cant see people

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:26 (twelve years ago)

I have the same instinctive bias against Barbour, also RL/Gant/etc - not that e.g. APC is unamenable to a similar analysis, the baggage there is just quite distant from my experience. xps

"Also, there were lots of military-inspired features coming out of the European shows this year. From epaulets to double-breasted officer coats to interesting uses of camo, there’s a sense of masculinity and ruggedness in the pieces."

A SENSE OF MASCULINITY AND RUGGEDNESS

epaulets are vile

caek, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:30 (twelve years ago)

caek, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:30 (twelve years ago)

caek, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:31 (twelve years ago)

yea i just mean: stop trying to sell me the same old trends as new. also stop telling me that the military is fashionable.

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:35 (twelve years ago)

i was upper middle class back home so i'm definitely missing out here in your classless society : (

caek, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:39 (twelve years ago)

see i have no idea what that even means

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:45 (twelve years ago)

Barbour vs Belstaff boils down to "do you want to look like The Queen or Steve McQueen?".

Inte Regina Lund eller nån, mitt namn är (ShariVari), Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:52 (twelve years ago)

one of those things that i like in principle but has too much baggage for me to wear (via class war)

prevailing off-putting baggage is currently that of the hipster surely

r|t|c, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)

i would fully respect an actual rich young country person wearing a barbour if one was any longer to be found

r|t|c, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 21:58 (twelve years ago)

yeah i *think* i get the class thing but basically i just wanted a jacket that i would own for 20 years that was not made of gross swishy nylon.

btw according to j. crew's fall looks the camo is in for ladies too.

if you don't *feel* the class thing it's not something you should care about imo

Otm and I do have friends I feel can pull this off. I have one friend who can even make red trousers work but he's clearly opened them since lower 6th at Winchester.

caek, Thursday, 5 September 2013 00:32 (twelve years ago)

Yeah for me it's about not wanting to feel my clothes are imposing an identity on myself that I'm not happy with. With some items/brands I can't shake the associations I have. I have two pairs of red trousers though.

lol at "I have two pairs of red trousers though."

Camo has been back for a few seasons now I notice, lol, sentences I thought I'd never say.

Still just makes me think of DJs, tho the odd more abstract camo print or accessory has almost tempted me.

Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Thursday, 5 September 2013 05:54 (twelve years ago)

On the barbour thing, definitely ubiquitous in east London but there are a lot of styles. I basically find that on a day when I'm not dressing more formally with mac or pea coat, they are really nice casual jackets.

Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Thursday, 5 September 2013 05:57 (twelve years ago)

Camo never left my rural southern family

Jeff, Thursday, 5 September 2013 11:29 (twelve years ago)

it just got progressively more realisitic

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 September 2013 12:15 (twelve years ago)

check your menswear privilege bro

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:25 (twelve years ago)

j/k but i have never really signed on to the idea that as a man you build a wardrobe and that's pretty much that for the rest of your life

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:27 (twelve years ago)

just talkin' but afaik nobody expects women to wear the same things when she's 25 as when she's 45

your authentic guitar playing self (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:31 (twelve years ago)

ya the problem w that whole concept is changing styles

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:32 (twelve years ago)

like imagine wearing some lol hueg three button suit from the 90s now be srs

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:32 (twelve years ago)

true, though some things have longevity. shoes in particular but some formal wear too.

Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:37 (twelve years ago)

i have a tshirt that says bermuda in sweet embroidering that i found in a free box 15 years ago but besides that i dont think theres much in my wardrobe that gets any sort of regular play that ive had for more than like five years

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:42 (twelve years ago)

all points granted but i am talking about a fall jacket and i live in new england so i feel like that is something i should not really plan on needing to rebuy to respond to changing styles or w/e.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:43 (twelve years ago)

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 September 2013 13:44 (twelve years ago)

foil clothing adapts to suit any season and never goes out of style

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 5 September 2013 14:01 (twelve years ago)

what, none of you guys grow a thick layer of down for the winter?

乒乓, Thursday, 5 September 2013 14:03 (twelve years ago)

Your search - "reversible foil pants" - did not match any documents.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 5 September 2013 14:05 (twelve years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 5 September 2013 14:05 (twelve years ago)

lol at searching both trousers and pants

caek, Thursday, 5 September 2013 14:06 (twelve years ago)

i am doubting my native spelling of 'reversable'... go back before it's too late caek.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 5 September 2013 14:08 (twelve years ago)
